Lilisette: Did... did we do it?
Atomos: GraAaAaaaAA..aAaaaAa!
Cait Sith Ceithir: ....C-curses.
Cait Sith Ceithir: It... it's gone and strained itself... Overexerted...
Cait Sith Ceithir: No... I refuse to accept... Won't end here... like this... Lilith...
Cait Sith: Ceithir! Don't you dare run away! Escape responsibility!
Lilisette: Wh-what should we do!?
Cait Sith: Follow me! You've nothing to fear! Won't come to harm!
Lilisette: A-all right. Come on, PLAYERNAME! Let's do this!
You allow yourself to be consumed by Atomos, and you appear in the realm of Atomos.
Lilisette: Hm? Where... are we? What is this place?
Lilisette: Portia!
Haudrale: More familiar faces... A merry day this is proving to be.
Cait Sith Ceithir: Li... Lilith... help...
Haudrale: Take not another step, cat.
Cait Sith Ceithir: A-Atomos... went out of control... I... I couldn't...
Portentous Woman: Awww, my sweet, pitiful kitten. Look what's happened to you. The colors have all but left your face.
Cait Sith Ceithir: Li... Lilith!
Portentous Woman: My heart aches to imagine all you've suffered. Come. Come and be comforted and freed from your pain.
The woman holds Ceither and wraps her wings around him.
Portentous Woman: Now tell me, if you will. How was it that you allowed Atomos to swallow her up? You ought to count your lucky stars she wasn't digested.
Portentous Woman: Still, I cannot overlook such a gross act of negligence, nor can I allow it to go unpunished.
Cait Sith Ceithir: ....!
The Cait disappears between Lilith's wings.
Portentous Woman: Hmph. Pathetic.
Portentous Woman: Such an end is fitting for a creature of the Goddess.
Aquila: Awww... the poor thing... ...
Portia, who is being held by Larzos, wakes up.
Portia: Lilisette! PLAYERNAME!
Lilisette: Oh, Portia! I'm so relieved to see you safe!'''
Portentous Woman: So, this is the PLAYERNAME of whom praise is so copiously lavished.
Portentous Woman: Tell me, Cait Sith. This PLAYERNAME here... he is one of the pieces you dug up?
Cait Sith: Th-that's right!
Portentous Woman: Ohohoho, you've done well for yourself. A passing glance is enough to reveal the intriguing man he is.
Cait Sith: PLAYERNAME! The winged woman who stands before you --
Haudrale: Stay your impudence, cat!
Haudrale: You speak in the hallowed presence of the most high Lady Lilith...
Haudrale: Vana'diel's great leader and custodian!
Lilisette: Vana'diel's great leader... and custodian? What's that supposed to mean?
Haudrale: That is exactly what it means.
Haudrale: The Vana'diel over which Lady Lilith presides, however, is not the decadent, stagnating realm whence you came, but a future where men and women of incomparable valor and courage take to battle still.
Cait Sith: An alternate Vana'diel where conflict rages on...
Lilisette: Huh? Is he being serious?
Lilisette: Look, I could care less for esteemed personages and the war-starved! I'm here to retrieve everyone's memory. Give it back now!
Lady Lilith: Give back...? How does one give back that which one did not take?
Lady Lilith: Might you be referring to... these?
Lady Lilith: These little orbs... They're memories taken from your dancer friends.
Lilisette: Ah!
Lady Lilith shatters an orb on a pillar.
Lilisette: !?
Lady Lilith: Sealed within were their memories of you.
Lady Lilith: Each orb was a seed that might have sprouted and bloomed myriad futures.
Lady Lilith: Alas, they were judged by Atomos to be dispensable, and thus, were devoured.
Lilisette: Dispensable... futures?
Lady Lilith: Correct. Atomos is more than a simple time portal. Since time immemorial, it has existed as the entity that devours time. A dreadful being devoid of all human consciousness.
Lady Lilith: No place in the world is safe from the voracious maw of this manipulator of dimensions. That which is deemed dispensable is devoured, digested.
Lady Lilith: ... And is finally deposited here at the wasteland of memories and time: the Walk of Echoes.
Lilisette: What... ?
Lilisette: Is this... the truth?
Lady Lilith: Mind you, your good companion Cait Sith knows of all this as well as I.
Lady Lilith: After all, it was none other than they who set events in motion.
Lilisette: ...?
Cait Sith: Hiss! Hodl your tongue!
Cait Sith: These young ones here are the Champions of the Dawn! Chosen by the Goddess herself, and scouted by us! Our discerning eyes!
Cait Sith: It is they who will set Vana'diel back on the path to its rightful future!
Lady Lilith: Rightful future? Chosen by Altana? Hah! No God or Goddess holds authority over the realm of mortals!
Lady Lilith: It is people, not some absent diety, who determine the fate of the world.
Lady Lilith: It is I who shall lead the people of Vana'diel to their rightful future!
Haudrale: Pray forgive my interruption, my lady. The time has come.
Lady Lilith: You wish to return home?
Lady Lilith: Then go. You have my leave to return to the reality whence you came.
Portia: ...
Lady Lilith: Of course, I needn't remind you what awaits you there.
Lady Lilith: Will you live and grow old with Sir Ragelise? Or grieve his untimely demise for as long as you shall live? The choice is yours to make.
Portia: ...
Lilisette: Portia, no! This isn't the way!
Portia: I... I'm sorry.
Portia: Please forgive me, Lilisette.
Portia: No matter what it takes... no matter what may become of me... I must save him.
Portia joins Lilith on the portal.
Lady Lilith: You have chosen wisely. Come, then. Let us walk hand in hand...
Lady Lilith: Mother.
Lilisette: Ugh!
Lilisette jumps for the portal, clinging to its edge.
Lady Lilith: PLAYERNAME. If ever you should have a change of heart, I will be waiting.
Lady Lilith: Know, though, that time is a precious commodity. I must have your answer before the comet kisses the horizon.
Lady Lilith: Remember this. The future will choose me.
Lady Lilith: I look forward to when next we meet.
Lilith steps on Lilisette's hand; Lilisette flies backwards and lands next to you as Lilith, Portia and the others disappear.
??? PLAYERNAME!
??? PLAYERNAME! Lilisette! Can you hear me!?
Vestillet: Thank the Goddess. I feared you might never open your eyes.
Lilisette: Wh-where are we?
Vestillet: The scene of the aftermath of our clash with the beastmen.
Noillurie: Though we slayed several score enemies and diverted an equal amount, still too many were able to flee to Castle Zvahl.
Vestillet: And, as if to mock us, scout reports of Zvahl-bound enemy battalions continue to swamp us without pause.
Noillurie: Make no mistake about it, 'tis here in snow-swept Valdeaunia that the decisive battle will be waged, and the outcome of the war, decided.
Vestillet: Pain me though it may to admit, we've fallen short of our objective.
Noillurie: I... I have failed Sir Ragelise. How can I ever face him again?
Vestillet: I've been meaning to ask of Portia.
Lilisette: She's still in the hands of the enemy...
Vestillet: Is that so...
Vestillet: Keep your chins up. We'll find a way to rescue her yet. For now, though, we must return to the Kingdom and regroup.
Cait Sith: Phew... We barely managed to escape with the fur on our backs.
Lilisette: :Live and grow old with Sir Ragelise," that self-professed custodian of Vana'diel said...
Lilisette: Cait Sith, tell me. What will become of Portia?
Cait Sith: Hrmmmm... What fiendish plot could that detestable wench possibly be concocting that involves Portia? What dastardly wiles?
Cait Sith: I'm afraid even I do not know. The knowledge eludes me.
Lilisette: ...
Cait Sith: PLAYERNAME. We, too, should return to San d'Oria. Our priority now is to report the unfortunate turn of events to Ragelise. Break the news.
