Q. Is the Recruit-a-Friend client different from the one you buy?
A. Nope! The Recruit-a-Friend client is the same as the full version of the game client which is available in stores.
Q. I bought the game, installed, signed up and am playing it. My debit card info has been entered and everything. Under the account management it says I currently have no trials keys to hand out. Why?
A. Trial keys are rewarded to paying subscribers only. Once you have begun your payment cycle, you will receive your Recruit a Friend keys.
Q. I'm looking for a way to try out WAR without buying the game itself until I'm satisfied. Is there a free trial available?
A. Free trials are coming soon! Keep an eye here on the Herald and in our monthly newsletter for details.
Q. For Recruit-a-Friend, in Accounts Management, there are options for server and realm. Does it mean that my friend will only be able to play the particular server and realm that I select for him?
A. Your friend is welcome to play on any server or realm they choose. Those selection menus are provided as a service to you to make it easier for your friend to find you on your realm and server.
Q. Will the Recruit-a-Friend program be available in Europe, too?
A. Yes, GOA is working on instituting a similar program, so watch for news coming soon!
Q. After the trial period, does the person have to purchase the game (reg code)? Or can you immediately start subscribing?
A. The Recruit-a-Friend program provides a free game client during the trial period. Once the trial period is over and your friend is blown away by the Warhammer® world, he or she will have to pick up their own retail copy and subscribe to the game in order to continue playing.
Q. Were damage absorption shield spells changed? Currently they are not pre-mitigating damage from your gear, making them take full damage. This doesn't seem correct and is not how it worked in the past.
A. In version 1.1, damage shields were changed to absorb damage before mitigation from armor, resists, or toughness. This was changed to ensure that the effectiveness the damage shield offered was the same regardless of the target it was cast on. As always we are closely watching how this change affects game balance and will be tuning the absorb values of damage shields accordingly with future patches.
Q. How much gold per hour does it take to hold a claimed keep?
A. A guild pays 2 gold 40 silver an hour while holding a claimed keep.
Q. How much experience per hour does a guild earn while holding a keep?
A. Guild experience earned by holding a keep is run through a complicated equation that takes into account many factors such as your guild level. The result is awarded every 30 seconds for as long as you hold the keep.
Q. Does Weapon Skill have any impact on ranged damage?
A. Yes, Weapon Skill increases armor penetration for any physical attack (ranged or otherwise) against Defense. If a melee or ranged attack has a magic element to it, such as Festering Arrow (Corporeal damage), Weapon Skill does not apply.
Q. My guild leader has been inactive for a long time, and the rest of our guild members are all initiates. How does the guild Auto Promote function work? Does it promote initiates? When is my guild leader considered “inactive
A. The guild Auto Promote function finds the guild leader and checks his or her last played time. If the guild leader has been inactive for more than 30 days, the Auto Promoter demotes him or her to Initiate, and sets the alliance rank to the lowest level, then chooses the highest ranking currently active player and promotes that player to Guild Leader. There are no limits on who gets promoted through the Auto Promote feature, so initiates can be promoted if they are the highest ranking and most current active player in the guild.
Q. Is it true that only invaders can get into the Elysium? Is the Elysium a dungeon after Lost Vale for Destruction, or is it the order equivalent?
A. No. Destruction characters can also enter Elysium in the Inevitable City, but they won't be going there to fight. Elysium is designed as an instanced encounter for invading Order players, and it can only be accessed when the Inevitable City is rank five at the time of capture. Entry into Elysium is not hinged on success or failure in the Lost Vale. The two locations are completely separate entities. See the Bulletins section of this Grab Bag for links to our PvE Dungeon guides!
Q. Regarding the Screaming Cat Tavern: Does this possibly mean that Destro get to fight (and maybe *gasp* even kill) Felix and Gotrek?
A. Ambitious Destruction characters can sure as heck try to kill Felix and Gotrek, should they manage to lay a successful siege to Altdorf. Like Elysium, its counterpart in the Inevitable City, the Screaming Cat Tavern is an instanced encounter that can be entered freely by Order characters. Be aware that Felix and Gotrek will only be present in the tavern when Altdorf is at rank five.
Q. I'd like to know what the "Bloodweapon Shard" is for. It's found in the Bastion Stair yet I still have no idea what to make of it.
A. Bloodweapon Shards are for the Grydal Bloodshroud mini boss fight in the Bastion Stair. Using the Shards on the boss will distract Grydal, and prevent him from using his Mocking Cry ability. Q. A question about special attacks: if I have a weapon (axe, gun, dagger, anything) that does 15.0 dps, will my special attacks (anything except autoattacks) do more damage than a weapon that does 13.0 dps? Again, just talking specials here, not white (auto) attacks.
A. Attacks that use a weapon (Melee or Missile attacks) will always benefit from the DPS of your weapon. The amount of DPS you gain may vary from attack to attack but the average attack will gain 150% DPS damage added to the attack. So the difference between your 15 dps and 13 dps weapons would be 22 DMG and 19 DMG respectively. In addition, players Dual Wielding weapons gain additional bonus damage for their offhand weapon as well as their mainhand.
Q. I have a second computer and want to copy over my character settings so I don't have to redo it all from scratch. Besides the addon folder, What files/folders should be copied to retain all my stuff intact?
A. Copy over the entire user folder as well. That will give you all your settings, including key bindings as well as any customizations to the GUI you may have done. If your second computer has a smaller screen dimension than your first computer, you may have readjust your screen size settings.
The Keg End Event Heralds are still in place in Altdorf and The Inevitable City. If you haven't claimed your rewards yet, you have until 8:00 AM EST on Monday, January 12th to do so!
