Heroes of the Storm: The Mayhem Begins
Blizzard's YouTube broadcasted event showcases Heroes of the Storm with an expansion.
The Heroes of the Storm event was, at first, an odd thing. Being in LA up in the mountains around non-descript buildings, sand-laden parking lots and boring landscapes was nothing to write a symphony about. The parking lot for YouTube was small, so I was directed to an overflow lot. Nothing lept out of me saying "This is YouTube, folks, we're kind of a big deal," so it was safe to say that anonymity was important. However, the next place I went was enough to include in this article.
Kohler flushing systems. Progressive bathroom stalls. Recycled water systems. Stall doors with human figures holding their "parts" in the universal symbol for "Where is the bathroom? Like NOW?!" The bathrooms at YouTube Space in LA were arguably the most progressive bathrooms I've ever seen, even down to the chuckle-worthy stall symbols with the desperate-to-go humanoid figures. I gave a slight nod to the woman next to me as I washed my hands. She didn't return the gesture. Probably taken, to my misfortune. But I digress—the bathroom for YouTube was reason enough to include in this article, because Blizzard Entertainment's Heroes of the Storm was taking off in a small space, but in a very big way.
Hosted by Nerdist and Ms. Anna Prosser Robinson, the event named Heroes of the Storm: The Mayhem Begins was livestreamed through YouTube and featured fabled eSports teams such as Cloud9 and the Heroes of the Dorm event winners of UC Berkeley. RocketJump, Game Grumps, and other YouTube personalities cheered on the contestants in the audience.
The biggest reveal of the afternoon came when Blizzard announced the Heroes of the Storm expansion titled Eternal Conflict. Once again satisfying the sweet tooth for the cold storm's audience, the expansion brings a truckload of new content to a game that has been headlining across the world. And yes, The Butcher from Diablo will be a playable hero.
Heroes has been fighting the fight for top spot against other MOBAs, and Blizzard has come out with pistols akimbo putting time and energy into their game. Bringing an all-star cast to such a fantastic game with support from YouTube and gamers around the world, there's no sign of stopping for this MOBA's success.
This expansion is turning the game's heat up to heroic proportions.
Who won the Heroes bout? We don't want to spoil stuff here, you'll have to see for yourself on YouTube.
