Divinity: Original Sin Launches
One year later, Larian Studios has spun its Kickstarter into RPG gold.
Let's admit it: games on Kickstarter don't always pan out. When they do, sometimes they’re a paragon for the platform. This is the case with Divinity: Original Sin, a $1+ million Kickstarter success with everything going for it.
Original Sin is a turn-based RPG, playable in singleplayer or co-op. You need to make "optimal use of skills, spells, equipment, weapons, item combinations and even the environment" to succeed. Spells cast in succession interact with each other in ways you've always expected them to. Combat is clever, tactical and satisfying. Crafting is a dash of luck and a handful of experimentation. The art style is polished and very, very pleasant.
As of writing, 94% of people on Steam recommend the game – with most reviews written months before the game was even finished. You can grab the game for $40 from Steam or the Larian Vault (once available).
