Fallen Earth Tour Stop Contest Under Way

We reported last month that the Fallen Earth team would be holding a contest to give prospective players the opportunity to choose the location for the May 2 stop on the game's national grassroots tour. Cities in the running span the United States, from New York City to Los Angeles and numerous possible stops in-between. The event will give players a chance to meet the development team, demo Fallen Earth, provide feedback and collect an exclusive in-game item.

The contest runs through April 16. The winning tour location will be announced on April 17. Fallen Earth is scheduled to launch later this year.

Contest Will Choose Last Stop of Fallen Earth Tour

The developers of Fallen Earth, a post-apolocalyptic MMO set in the Grand Canyon, are taking the time to tour the United States now before a lethal disease destroys most of mankind. They've already been to Raleigh, N.C., Baltimore, Md., and San Francisco to show off the game and meet fans, but now you'll have a chance to enter a contest to choose the final stop on May 2.

Contest rules will be posted on the official Web site on April 2. According to a press release, "the culminating fan event will give players a chance to meet the dev team, demo the game and collect a surprise in-game item." If that sounds like fun to you, consider entering the contest to try and bring the team to your neck of the woods.

Fallen Earth Begins US Tour

Fallen Earth, which is in closed beta testing and set to launch later this year, is currently in the process of being shown to fans as part of a U.S. tour. The tour kicked off last week at the Triangle International Game Developers Association (IGDA) meeting at Ess Lounge in Raleigh, N.C. and will continue in Baltimore, San Francisco and Houston.

The game’s development team gave the first public demonstration of its highly anticipated in-game tutorial to an audience of more than 300 game development professionals and students. ... They also conducted an in-depth question and answer session, giving audience members a glimpse into the complexities associated with developing an MMO that combines RPG and first-person shooter elements. All attendees had the opportunity to play Fallen Earth through several demo stations that were available at the event.

Fallen Earth Enters Closed Beta Testing

The developer of Fallen Earth announced today the game has transitioned from the alpha phase, which is the first rung of the testing ladder, to closed beta. If you'd like to participate, visit the post-apocalyptic game's Web site and sign up for the opportunity to receive a key and help the dev team work through any bugs and issues before launch.

Recent updates include the creation of a comprehensive user tutorial and continued enhancements to balance the in-game crafting system. With the move to closed beta, players will have the opportunity to piece together aspects of the storyline, play freely through all three sectors, and gain a better understanding of how the game will look and feel at launch. Closed beta testing also allows the development team to better observe overall game play, perform system stress tests, and ultimately perfect the Fallen Earth game experience.

Fallen Earth is set to be released sometime in the second quarter of 2009. You can read the full press release regarding the closed beta announcement below.
