Mr Scruffy don't give a damn.
Well, they're immune to Dominate Person, yes.
Lol! Yup. Something that Blackwing apparently isn't aware of (that's typical for him though). Then again, it's actually hard to tell if he's got his eyes opened or closed. Someone also mentioned that familiars at least, and maybe animal companions as well, are generally immune to mind affecting stuff anyway, regardless of what those spells affect in terms of creature type.
One of the amusing things about the last few strips is reading through the comments on the site itself. A ton of people keep mentioning how using circle of protection vs evil would be the perfect spell to have and use, and would have been much better than force cage, protect them from touch attacks, domination, still allow them to fight, etc, etc, etc. All seeming to forget that Belkar is evil. Poor guy would be pushed right out of the group and into the hungry arms of the vamps. And yes, "poor guy" is ironic, I suppose.
Speaking of protection vs evil though, I'm a bit out of touch with the current (or what passes for current in the strip) D&D rules, but the SRD description seems to clearly state that it prevents touch attacks, which would make it more or less the go-to solution in general (just not the circle option, for the reasons above). My understanding is that the level drain of the vamps is a touch attack, so shouldn't that make them immune to pretty much anything the vamps can do?
And yeah, in the latest strip, they do finally break out a couple of them, and while I get the whole mind blank lasting all day thing being a plus, wouldn't they also have stocked up on prot vs evil for this? Maybe that's not a spell V has in his/her spellbook? Dunno.
