The arcane tree has two uses in the mages repertoire. At low levels of gear at level 70 the arcane tree can be used to artificially buff up another tree (either fire or frost) in which case you would use the increased spell damage and clearcasting bonuses from arcane but still cast primarily Fireballs or Frostbolts. At higher gear levels, especially with two pieces of tier 5 armor, using a spell rotation involving 3 arcane blasts, a round of arcane missiles and 1 filler spell can be very damaging... if your mana can survive it. Tier 1

Arcane Subtlety2Reduces the chance your helpful spells and damage over time effects will be dispelled by 15/30% and reduces the threat caused by your Arcane spells by 20/40%. Arcane Focus3Increases your chance to hit and reduces the mana cost of your Arcane spells by 1/2/3%. Arcane Stability5Reduces the pushback suffered from damaging attacks while casting Arcane Missiles and Arcane Blast by 20/40/60/80/100%.

Tier 2

Requires 5 point in the Arcane Tree

Arcane Fortitude3Increases your armor by an amount equal to 50/100/150% of your Intellect. Magic Absorption2Increases all resistances by .5/1 per level and causes all spells you fully resist to restore 1/2% of your total mana. 1 sec cooldown. Arcane Concentration5Gives you a 2/4/6/8/10% chance of entering a Clearcasting state after any damage spell hits the target. The Clearcasting state reduces the mana cost of your next damage spell by 100%.

Tier 3

Requires 10 point in the Arcane Tree

Magic Attunement2Increases the range of your arcane spell by 3/6 yards and the effects of your Amplify Magic and Dampen Magic spells by 25/50%. Spell Impact3Increases the damage of your Arcane Explosion, Arcane Blast, Blast Wave, Fire Blast, Scorch, Fireball, Ice Lance and Cone of Cold spells by an additional 6%. Student of the Mind3Increases your total Spirit by 4/7/10%. Focus Magic1Increases the target's chance to critically hit with all spells by 3%. When the target critically hits the caster's chance to critically hit with spells is increased by 3% for 10 seconds.

Tier 4

Requires 15 point in the Arcane Tree

Arcane Shielding2Decreases the mana lost per point of damage taken when Mana Shield is active by 17/33% and increases the resistances granted by Mage Armor by 25/50%. Improved Counterspell2Gives your Counterspell a 50/100% chance to silence your target for 4 sec. Arcane Meditation3Allows 17/33/50% of your mana regeneration to continue while casting. Torment the Weak3Your Frostbolt, Fireball, Frostfire Bolt, Arcane Missiles, and Arcane Barrage abilities deal 4/8/12% more damage to Snared targets.

Tier 5

Requires 20 point in the Arcane Tree

Improved Blink2Reduces the mana cost of Blink by 25/50% and for 4 seconds after casting your chance to be hit by all attacks and spells is reduced by 15/30%. Presence of Mind1When activated, your next Mage spell with a casting time less than 10 sec. becomes an instant cast spell. Arcane Mind5Increases your total Intellect by 3/6/9/12/15%.

Tier 6

Requires 25 point in the Arcane Tree

Prismatic Cloak3Reduces all damage taken by 2/4/6% and reduces the fade time of your Invisibility spell by 1/2/3 sec. Arcane Instability3(Requires 1 point in Presence of Mind). Increases your spell damage and critical strike chance by 1/2/3%. Arcane Potency2(Requires 1 point in Presence of Mind). Increases the critical strike chance of your next damaging spell by 15/30% after gaining Clearcasting or Presence of Mind.

Tier 7

Requires 30 point in the Arcane Tree

Arcane Empowerment3Increases the damage of your Arcane Missiles spell by an amount equal to 15/30/45% of your spell power and the damage of your Arcane Blast by 3/6/9% of your spell power. Arcane Power1(Requires 3 points in Arcane Instability). When activated, your spells deal 30% more damage, while costing 30% more mana to cast. This effect lasts 15 sec. Incanter's Absorption3When you absorb damage your spell damage is increased by 5/10/15% of the amount absorbed for 10 seconds.

Tier 8

Requires 35 point in the Arcane Tree

Arcane Flows2(Requires 1 point in Arcane Power). Reduces the cooldown of your Presence of Mind, Arcane Power and Invisibility spells by 30/60 secs Mind Mastery5Increases spell power by up to 3/6/9/12/15% of your total intellect.

Tier 9

Requires 40 point in the Arcane Tree

Slow1Reduces target's movement speed by 50%, increases the time between ranged attacks by 50%, and increases casting time by 50%. Lasts 15 sec. Slow can only affect one target at a time. Missile Barrage5Gives your Arcane Blast, Arcane Barrage, Fireball, Frostbolt and Frostfire Bolt spells a 4/8/12/16/20% chance to reduce the channeled duration of the next Arcane Missiles spell by 2.5 secs and missiles will fire every .5 secs.

Tier 10

Requires 45 point in the Arcane Tree

Netherwind Presence3Increases your spell haste by 2/4/6%. Spell Power2Increases critical strike damage bonus of all spells by 25/50%.

Tier 11

Requires 50 point in the Arcane Tree

Arcane Barrage1Launches several missiles at the enemy target, causing 936 to 1144 Arcane damage.
