I'm wondering if it finishes at 2 am PDT or 2pm PDT cause then on the east coast the maintenance will either end @ 3 am or pm.. pm if it ends at 2am PDT and 3am if it ends at 2pm PDT ^^

In responce to your statement about connection issues I suggest obtaining a dedicated high-speed internet connection for your computer or PS2. I had numerous problems with shi**y connections using a Wireless Router. So decided to get a modem for my PS2. Never have problems with conneciton always smooth since the upgrade. Unless in Lower Jeuno by the Auction House. Upgrading you Connection at the source. Will improve the performanceso much you will wonder how you delt without it. I hope this helps. It is not cheap but a dedicated gamer should be able to handle it.

Well, I guess everyone is a little ticked off, but hey, this gets you away from the keyboard or controller and carpal tunnel is a little bit farther away.

i'm sure i read somewhere about that during this maintenence they're upgrading the servers so maybe less lag or more people can get on each server, so if this is correct, we will have a better time playing.

looks out of real window and notices real garden is dead from lack of watering....
/em blames SE for not having more downtime ><
Perhaps I'll concrete garden over then no more worries about real garden.
jk guys have fun in the sunshine, dig out the ps2 or xbox, see if your family still survives (perhaps you got a divorce while playing, get down the job centre <------only kidding dont panic.
I'm going get out in garden and dream of being able to afford the gear I want and what it would like on my character!

No, there will be no updates to download after maintenance is over. However, right after it is over you might get problems trying to sign on, since everyone will be trying then.

They don't say because there is no am or pm. 00:00-24:00. It's a simple time scale used most often in military and computer purposes.

Aug. 8, 2005 8:00 - Aug. 9, 2005 2:00 (PDT) means that FFXI will be unavailable from 8:00am Monday morning until 2:00am Tuesday morning. This is California time however, so adjust for your time zone.

For instance, here on the east coast, I can't play FFXI from Monday Aug.9 @ 12:00pm until Tuesday Aug.10 @ 6:00am.

Honestly, ok, I can go out and do other things, but point in fact that I've made hundreds of times in the past, SE is taking another full day of gaming away from loyal members. (See my other arguements on update pages in the past for more info on that rant though).

Erm... actually, EST is 3 hours ahead of PST, which SE uses. So it would be Monday 11:00AM - Tuesday 5:00AM EST.

Unfortunately maintenance and updates have to be done and they take time. Nothing to be done about that.

As a player from England, I do, however, agree with the poster who pointed out that maintenance and updates always seem to take place during European prime time (evening). It's a shame that they can't spread the pain out a bit more evenly from our point of view but I suppose that the fewest people are affected that way.

I don't see, though, why SE caused downtime should result in people's plants dying - I can't believe that it would be too difficult to 'suspend time' for the period of an update or maintenance, thus avoiding this problem or to find another fairly straightforward solution. Come on SE, this would be a little update which would save quite a lot of grumbles!

We Are not saying this time it affects only european, we are saying that everytime it affects eurropean prime time. when there is a maintenance of 3 or 4 hours it is always like 5 to 9pm european time. So learn to read the post before answering that way
