I was playing with the Hardwood as my monk... and noticed something odd... I have no GK skill and was hitting the mob every time !

I'm thinking it has a 95% hit rate hidden effect in it.....

So I was PTing in CNest last night... whipped out my hardwood, and hit the soldier crawler a few times before my Party yelled at me. XD

I think it's safe to say that I'm most likely/ 99% right. :p

Whoo-hoo! I was just playing tonight thinking: "Ok, I guess I'll go try to get the Hardwood Katana" So I go out, and see the Hume Armor with a tiny bit of health left, I start chasing it (darn thing, won't stop running!) and it finally stops, by now there are three other people chasing it with me, so we all catch up to it and start attacking it, I use Hundred Fists, start attacking rapidly and get the kill! Oh and by the way, this is only the second one I have fought =).

We are really posotive this is how it works. Tried it on many a mule.
You have to get the last hit to get the Hard Wooden Katana. So this part is fact.
How do you tell if you got it? You ask?
Ok when it says it falls to the ground, it will say it in 3 different colors. White is some one not in you party who killed it. A really faded yellow is someone in your party who killed it. A bright yellow text means you killed it. It's that simple ^.^ Have fun every one, And enjoy!
P.S. I killed everyone of the armors and didnt get nothing special for it. So there is nothing for doing that.

To get the hardwood katana you have to deal the killing blow to one of the samurais running around. I got mine just after killing one, and many other people have reported the same thing so that seems to be it. It's hard to tell whether you killed it or not, though, since it just gives a "Armor falls to the ground" message instead of saying who killed it. Just use Hundred Fists to up your chances. :P

Somehow I soloed that Tatenashi Armor Wednesday night. Took about 1.5 hours, got the Hardwood on the trade to Moogle.

Edge of Death and Atherael Call are great fun.
Edge of Death brings you down to 1 hp, Call = Dia.

Note that I had the Sweet Pumpkin Hat II on that added Enmity +1 lol.

As for the katanas a few friends and I tested. You get the Next Katana from landing a deathblow against one of the armors. Even if you just ran out there and one was badly hurt, killing the armor will give you the next level Katana.... I couldn't get mine cause the thing was at no health and someone ran up and smacked it before I could swing my katana again :(

Nice screenshots Pikko! Anyone up for doing a run on the armors just before the IGames in Aiea...lol!

I laughed for a good 5 minutes straight when my sexy mithra turned into a midget Galka. It interesting that they made the Armors hittable by anyone, you can't "claim" one. One person starts pummeling (or trying too) away and a mass of other PC's joins in the bash fest! Very fun. I was kinda hoping they'd make a mochi that turned a girl mithra into a little boy mithra, since they supposedly do exist...ah well
