Guild Wars 2 Goes First-Person
Today, ArenaNet revealed some major updates coming to the camera in Guild Wars 2.
Some big changes are coming to Guild Wars 2 with the upcoming Heart of Thorns release, but that isn't stopping ArenaNet from releasing some big things before then. March 10th will host a new patch that brings with it a handful of changes to the camera system in the game, including the much coveted ability to zoom into first-person.
The changes and new features for the camera include:
- First-person camera - Zoom in all the way to experience first-person view with no restrictions on when or where it can be used.
- Field of View - A new slider that will adjust how much of the world can be seen at once.
- Position Slider - Now split between a horizontal slider (to give an over-the-shoulder view) and a vertical slider to control how high the camera can go when fully zoomed out (but will adjust when zoomed in to always keep the player character on the screen).
- Character Height - The camera will now center on the character's head, giving Norn a lofty perspective over the other diminutive races. Can be toggled back to the old system if so desired.
- Collision Sensitivity - Allows objects such as trees and rocks to exist between the character and the camera to prevent snapping camera movements.
If you can't wait the almost two weeks before these features come to the game, you might some relief in the Ready Up livestream on the official GW2 Twitch channel tomorrow, Friday 27th at Noon Pacific. The livestream will give a first glimpse of how the new camera system works before a blog post on the GW2 site outlines everything.
