Guild Wars 2: Feature Pack
Find out what is coming to Guild Wars 2 in the big feature patch on April 15th.
Megaserver System
- This system will make unified maps instead of having a different instance of a map for each world
- Will help fill the population of a map
- When there are multiple versions of a map, the system will take factors such as party, guild, language and home world to put the player in the most appropriate map
- This system will still separate regions (NA/EU)
- This system will roll out with lower population maps included with the patch, with higher population maps added later in the year
- The PvP Lobby will be included in this system with the April 15th patch
- WvW will not be affected by the megaserver system
- Cross-map state broadcast is being removed
- This means you will not be able to tell if a waypoint, dungeon or temple is contested unless you are on that map
- As such, any waypoint that can be contested will act like it is contested until you enter the map to see its current state
World Bosses
- World Bosses will be changed to a set schedule
- Any instance of a map at the set time will start up the boss event
- Temples of Orr, as well as some minor bosses, will not be included in the schedule
- Bosses on the schedule that previously did not have a failure condition will be updated to include one so that the schedule can be maintained
- Some bosses have been updated (difficulty scaling, lead-up events and boss abilities)
- Guild will now have the ability to start mega-boss encounters (Karka Queen, Tequatl and Great Jungle Wurm) at will
- Requires unlocking the Guild World Event upgrade (which require Guild Challenges to be previously unlocked)
- The Guild World Event consumable can then be built for influence and merits
- A guild cannot start an event if it would interfere with the scheduled instance of the event
Miscellaneous
- Guild Leaders will be able to see the last login date for guild members
- Looking For Group (LFG) system has been updated.
- Now useable in WvW with new categories for each of the WvW maps.
- A main language can be selected for the group
- WXP will be Account-Bound
- Players will need to log into each character to have their previous WXP be transferred to the account-wide WXP pool.
- World Ability Points will still be spent on each character
- World Ability Points will be reset with the patch for players to redistribute
- Legendary Weapons and Ascended Gear will become account-bound
- Legendary Weapons will still be unbound when acquired and will be Account-bound instead of Soul-bound when equipped
- Ascended Gear will always remain account-bound
- Previously soul-bound gear will become account-bound with the patch
- Repair Costs are being removed
- Players will still need to visit a Repair NPC or use an Instant Repair Canister to repair armor
- Event and Champion Loot Bags will give reduced gold
- Mystic Forge is being updated to give more variation in rare and exotic rewards
- Daily and Monthly Categories will no longer be split between PvP and PvE
- Daily and Monthly will still require 4 achievements each to complete
- All of the current PvE and PvP achievements will be under a single Daily or Monthly category
- Total Daily and Monthly Achievement points will be capped at 10,000 and 5,000 achievement points respectively
- Players can currently check how much toward each cap they are by hovering over the Achievement Points total in the achievement window
