Big Update Today

We have a bunch of new features going in today. First off, we are installing three brand new Apple Xserve servers, bringing our total processing power to 10 servers. You should notice a significant increase in our site speed as these come on line. Second, we have added quite a few new searches and other features to the site, most of which are for our premium members. This is a good chance to check out our premium service. We are going to leave these new features open to everyone for a week or so so you can see how they work. We wish we could leave everything free, but this is a very expensive site to maintain, and ads still don't cover anything close to our costs. Thus, we rely upon the small fee paid by our members to keep all of this going for everyone. So what's it cost for a membership?
  • $9.99 for 3 months ($3.33 a month)
  • $17.99 for 6 months (less than $3.00 a month)
  • $29.99 for 12 months (less than $2.50 a month)
  • Cheap! And here's what you get for that.
  • NEW The Advanced Item Search
  • NEW The Advanced Quest Search
  • NEW The Advanced Bestiary Search
  • NEW The Skill Chain Database. (Skill lists will be available to everyone, but the skill chains are premium only).
  • NEW Advanced Forum and Comment Search. Now you can search through every forum post and/or comment on the site for specific information. This gives you access to over one million posts of gaming information
  • Your Own Personal Forum. Keep it private, or open it up to the public. Password protect it and use it for your link shell. How many sites give you a full forum for this small price?
  • Extra Posting Features. Premium members can add an avatar to their post, choose a title, and use smilies. We also provide space for you to upload images to use for an avatar not only here, but anywhere you post.
  • Extra Profile Tools. You can add images to your profile to personalize it and also can keep track of your quests and titles. Also, you get a maximum of 24 profiles instead of 6.
  • No more ads. Premium members do not get any banner or popup ads.
  • Exclusive discounts at EBGames.com. Only Allakhazam.com can offer you a 10% discount off all MMORPG's at EBgames.com. We also offer 20% off pre-owned games and 25% off all strategy guides. Buy $100 worth of games and your membership pays for itself.
  • Your personal @allakhazam.com e-mail address. A cool way to talk to your gaming friends.
  • We think that's a pretty nice list considering you get all of this for less each month than the price of a cup of fancy coffee. If you use the site a lot, this is really something you should consider. And consider that this covers all of our sites, so if you play now or plan on playing Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, EQOA, Star Wars Galaxies, Planetside, World of Warcraft, Lineage 2 or Everquest 2, your membership will already cover you for those games. Please use this link to sign up today. (If you have any problems with the new features we added or suggestions for changes or additions, please post on this thread, or e-mail danalog@allakhazam.com about them. Thanks)

Very nice to see the speed increase.
Perhaps if things slow down in the future, you can let us registered users get the good servers and leave the others on the slow stuff ;)

Click on User Account in the index to the left. Where it says enable Journal, change it to yes and fill in the other info there and hit save. There's a link near the bottom that takes you to the journal once it's activated.

    servers and the news

i'd just like to say grats on the new servers and also that was a very well written news posting.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 24 2004 at 1:35 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Not worth it at all. First of all, allakazham's information is mostly submited by others. So why should others work just so you can get paid? Second, the information is often wrong, updates are slow (in correcting) and theres alot of stupid translated information just ignored and left over on the website. Also, some of these "Features" are just simply not needed. Personally i'd pay maybe if the site was in better shape, but as of now.

Uhm i think it's kind of rude to say that staff of Allakhazam does almost nothing. They order everything, they put everthing in catagory and in the databases so we, the players, can find a quest or a item really fast. It's a good thing! And the updates aren't really that slow. I mean you can't asume that Allakzam's staff knows everthing every second. I wouldn't really know what i had to do without Allakazam.com :P (not trying to be ***-kisser, but it really helped me into getting experienced with FFXI and it's a good information source)

    So personaly i think you're wrong :)

edit: And i would like to say that mostly of the time the items will get Updated but the announcement will me made a bit later.

Yeah, but I'd rather pay a big discounted chunk now and then never have to bother again. But that is just me.
