ESO: Brian Wheeler PvP Interview Recap
We take a look at Brian Wheeler's recent PvP mechanics interview.
Emperor
The emperor skill tree contains only passive abilities which are heavily toned down when you stop being emperor or if you switch campaigns. They will remain useful and are not a waste of points.
The emperor armor is just a costume slot item that you can wear only when you’re emperor. You are not required to wear it.
There are progression goals even for players who do not want to fight for emperorship: the Assault and Support skill lines grant a lot of interesting abilities useful during small or large scale battles.
Cyrodiil Zone
The Imperial City cannot be entered at this time.
A place like “Darkness Falls” in DAoC is on the radar (it was a PvE space accessible only to a single alliance at a time).
There are five cities within Cyrodiil: Bruma, Cheydinhal, Chorrol, Cropsford and Vlastarus. There are PvE quests and repeatable quests within them and it’s a good place to find solo players to kill.
Miscellaneous
To breech a keep, you can break down the walls, the door and also the postern door, letting invaders attack the keep from various positions.
There are no stats specific to PvP so any gear can be used in PvE or PvP regardless of where it comes from. Some of the armor sets will have different passive effects in PvE vs. PvP
Currently, if you hit an enemy and you have the health bars showing, you’ll see a little flash on the bar. The team is working on a way to show more impact when you hit an enemy, especially in melee.
The scaling system currently puts player stats up to that of around level 45-50 in average green gear with points spread between Magicka, Stamina and Health evenly (regardless of players spending choices). They are working on it.
