The January Version Update Storms In!
The wait is over! The January version update for Final Fantasy XI has officially arrived, bringing about new and revamped content for players both old and new! New Records of Eminence trials have been implemented, including ones tasking you to do battle with some memorable old Notorious Monsters. Speaking of battling familiar faces, high-level versions of the Kam'lanaut and Eald'narche battles from the Rise of the Zilart expansion have also been implemented, testing players mettle to their max.
Several job adjustments have also been added, including many adjustments to pet jobs to increase their damage outputs!

Records of Eminence has undergone the following additions and adjustments.

Each mission battlefield is divided into five levels of difficulty. Boss strength, number and drop rate of spoils, and content level increase in line with difficulty.

Spoils are rewarded both for vanquishing the boss and clearing the battlefield. A designated amount of spoils will be distributed to all adventurers clearing the battlefield.
Among the available rewards are items needed to reforge artifact armor to item level 119 as well as relic, mythic, and empyrean weapons.

- The colonization rate increase from successful lair and colonization reives is now larger than before.

Resolved Issues
- The issue with wherein Savage Hound Condottiere would not display on the map after using Wide Scan during Campaign battles.
- The issue wherein familiars would not generate enmity from using the raaz special attack Sweeping Gouge.
- The issue wherein it would take an unintentionally long time for Inguza manipulators to become transparent when using the ninjutsu Tonko.
- The issue wherein players were unable to use the beastmaster ability Gauge when summoning an alter ego.
- The issue wherein the ranges for the Trion alter ego abilities Red Lotus Blade and Savage Blade were different than intended.
- The issue with alter egos of Mihli Aliapoh countering wherein they would not perform the appropriate animation and the corresponding log would not appear.
- The issue wherein the players could not acquire a cipher of Prince Trion by examining the “Door:Prince Royal's Rm” in Chateau d'Oraguille while undertaking the quest “Under Oath.”

- Alter egos cast enfeebling magic related to resistances that enemies possess.
- Alter egos’ skill levels do not increase commensurately with the item levels of equipment players have equipped.
- Alter egos do not heal under certain conditions.
- The blue cursor that displays when using the placeholderin macros does not display for alter egos.
- Players cannot use the placeholderin Monstrosity.
- Players lose the following boons when zoning in to a different area while in belligerency during a bout of Monstrosity.
