New Version Update Blankets Vana'diel!
The December version update for Final Fantasy XI has arrived! A veritable cornucopia of new content has been implemented for both the hardened warrior and the newest of players alike. The new Trust magic has been introduced, letting you call forth alter-egos of Vana'diel's most memorable of characters to battle alongside. More interested in battling as a feathered fiend? Well, the bird is the word when it comes to Monstrosity now, as that family and all the major notorious monsters associated have been added! For those wanting to take to battling familiar old faces, harder versions of the Ark Angels and Divine Might battles have also been implemented.
A host of other changes have also been added, such as the ability to teleport between home point crystals for a nominal fee, a significant increase to player and pet movement speed, further adjustments to Artifact armor, and much more!
For the full details of this update, be sure to check below the break, and while you're at it, let us know what you think of these changes over on the ZAM forums!

Read on for the details.A new system called "Records of Eminence" has been introduced.
- Records of Eminence
Records of Eminence is a system developed by the Adventurers' Mutual Aid Network, whereby adventurers can complete a mountain of objectives by themselves while they wait for their friends to arrive.
Partaking in the GloryTutorial
Adventurers will need to complete the tutorial before undertaking any objectives. To complete the tutorial, go to the Quests section of the Main Menu, select "Tutorial" under the "Objective List," then undertake "First Step Forward" under the "Basics" section and, finally, talk with one of the following NPCs.
Once players finish the tutorial, they will unlock a plethora of new objectives upon which to endeavor.
Rolandienne in Southern San d'Oria (G-10)
Isakoth in Batsok Markets (E-11)
Fhelm Jobeizat in Windurst Woods (J-10)
Eternal Flame in Western Adoulin (H-11)
- Undertaking and Completing Objectives
Adventurers may undertake a maximum of fifteen objectives simultaneously, and will be rewarded with both experience and "sparks of eminence" upon completing them. Repeatable objectives will be automatically undertaken once they have been completed.
* Completing an objective for the first time—and only the first time—will reward players with three times the normal amount of sparks.
- Unlocking Additional Objectives
While A.M.A.N. is hesitant to provide exact details, they note that fulfilling certain conditions allows adventurers to undertake new objectives.
- Sparks of Eminence
Sparks of eminence are a new type of currency that denotes the achievements adventurers have made while participating in Records of Eminence. They can be redeemed for a number of rewards at the NPCs previously mentioned.
- A.M.A.N. Vouchers
These slips of paper may be obtained by fulfilling limited-time challenges and Records of Eminence-related quests, and then exchanged at the above NPCs for various currencies or items.
- A.M.A.N. Vouchers
Limited-time Challenges
Certain objectives will only be available at specific times during the day. Adventurers who reside in the area corresponding to a challenge will automatically undertake it and be able to repeat the challenge even after completing it.
* A visual effect will appear in the middle of the screen and a message will display in the bar at the top of the screen to alert adventurers that a new challenge is underway.
* A.M.A.N. vouchers may only be obtained once per challenge period.
