Hearthstone Turning Heads After BlizzCon
New Warcraft game pleases both casual and expert gamer crowds.
Blizzcon 2013 had new titles in store this year and a new addition into the Warcraft realm asks players to toss aside their cannons, catapults, cat o'nine tails, cleavers, clubs, crossbows, cudgels, cutlasses and whatever other weapons that begin with a "C" in favor of a different kind of weapon. The card.
Sheath your swords because the players are here to battle with minions and spells! Some of ZAM's own gamers worked hard to get an interview out of some of the Hearthstone devs, and we've got the video to prove it. Check it out for deets, beets! (ugh)
The future looks bright for Blizzard's trading card gem, as the game is incredibly easy to pick up and play immediately. There aren't libraries of text to read, it's easily addictive, and it appeals to both casual gamers and the MLG crowd as well. Twitch.tv has seen a massive influx of gamers playing Hearthstone, and the game's popularity is expected to skyrocket this holiday season.
There are some controversial hurdles to clear, however: an online trading card game may take some magic (cough) in order to sway die-hard TCG followers to conversion due to the "DRM scare." Purchasing cards doesn't grant a player anything physical but rather the ability to use whatever cards purchased. With the Diablo III economy fiasco causing a shutdown of the monetized auction house, Blizzard needs to tread lightly with introducing a similar feature, especially since Hearthstone is still in beta.
We're excited to see the game have an official launch! Stay tuned for more Hearthstone tidbits.
