RIFT: F2P for Owners Starts....Now!
Trion extends free-to-play weekend permanently for current owners of the fantasy MMO
As spotted by our eagle-eyed friend Shawn Schuster over at Massively, owners of RIFT got a pleasant surprise when the past F2P weekend was effectively extended until the end of time.
Announced by Elrar, the friendly neighborhood community manager, all current owners of RIFT have free-to-play until it launches for everyone next week, June 12.
This seems like a shrewd move--or, for the less cynical, a rather nice thing to do--on Trion's part as they prepare their fanbase for the move to F2P, and the undoubted influx of new and returning players next week.
For those players who don't own RIFT already, you can jump into RIFT Lite--free access to the first 20 levels of the game--to get started before F2P fully launches, as your character will be carried over when the full, sub-free service goes live.
To help you along your way, make absolutely sure to visit our sister-site Rifthead for all the great tools and resources you will ever need. You can even access that free too!
