MvP (MLG vs Proleague) Day One

A round up of all the Starcraft II action from the first day of battle

Series II Naniwa P versus Jaedong Z

Game I

Naniwa takes on Jaedong on the Protoss favoured field of Entombed Valley in the first map of their series.

Naniwa opened with a less than conventional stargate opening on Entombed that he tried to hide behind his mineral line, but a scouting overlord from Jaedong spots this and has spores ready and waiting.

Naniwa takes map control killing many roaches to force Jaedong into hive tech.

The sixteen minute mark is when Naniwa moves towards Jaedong’s fourth with a two colossus and stalker army timing.

Jaedong takes the opportunity to deny the fourth of Naniwa with a zergling run-by, but from here on in it's Naniwa forcing Jaedong to be starved for bases.

Naniwa keeps abusing the Zerg's immobility with warp prism zealot harass, forcing Jaedong to never establish a fifth base while taking down key tech structures such as both spires.

While taking the fight to Jaedong’s base, Naniwa forces engagement with the main army killing as many brood lords as possible and -- due to the lack of gas income for Jaedong -- he isn’t able to keep up with the Protoss’ production forcing him to GG.

Game II
Ohana was the battleground this time around, as Jaedong returns to his fabled roots.
Naniwa starts of the proceedings with a cannon rush at the third expansion, the bane of all Zerg players lives.
Jaedong easy replies with queens and Zerglings as Naniwa throws half a dozen cannons at the third to no prevail.
It then seems that Naniwa gets over cautious when taking his third base himself, teching into +2 ground attack and blink with seven gateways [the common signs of a blink push], but then proceeds to take down the rocks and make his third nexus.
Behind this, Jaedong has been returning to his Brood War roots of Mutalisks.
A fast swarm of Mutas find a way into Naniwa’s base and kill a total of twelve probes and six sentries.
This then prompts Jaedong into mass macro mode, he keeps up the mutalisk harrass whilst producing non-stop Zerglings and Mutalisks. With the lack of sentries and a high blink stalker count to counter the Mutalisks, Jaedong moves into Naniwa’s natural, surrounding everything while focusing the single colossus down and simply swarming Naniwa for the victory.
