Unfortunately, when Anmar gets to Stonefield, the news is not good. Pickaxe was eaten by a mountain troll.

So these first two quests are very basic, but they serve to bring Anmar to a new questing area: the rocky, mountainous region of Stonefield.

Stonefield got its start centuries ago when the Eth sorcerer kings called up titans from the Plane of Earth to protect Stonefield’s sourcestone mines. But the titans did not bow to the sorcerers’’ commands. They waited, cold, patient, raising an army of mountain trolls and earth elementals. When the time was right, the army swept across Stonefield like a moving mountain, crushing everyone in their path.

The Eth fought back, though, and after years and years of fighting, they defeated the titans and trapped them under the hills. The superstitious say that every avalanche or fall of rock is the titans slamming against the doors of their prison, trying to get free.

Mountain trolls now wander the rainy, barren landscape. They have formed into two opposing factions, one that is happy to be free of the titans’ influence, and the other that seeks to rescue their one-time masters so they can make Stonefield their own. In the meantime, the trolls wander the blighted landscape, smashing rocks, and killing any who wander into their paths.

Granite Falls is the main town in the area. It was once a bustling mining town, chipping away at the sourcestone held in the hills. But the people have been chased away from their mines by the Endless Court. Without a way to make money, the miners have become wasters, unemployed, sitting all day drinking and complaining.  And with the illness now sweeping through their ranks, the people really could be forgiven for thinking they were cursed. Because even those that die do not find rest. Instead, they are brought back from the grave to swell the ranks of the Endless Court.
