A Buyer's Guide to League of Legends: Vayne!
With Vayne, the Night Hunter, players are in for some acrobatic demon hunting that'll be sure to turn some heads.
Most champions in League of Legends tend to fluctuate between those who excel in burst damage or those who excel in auto-attack damage. Vayne, however, is lucky in that she gets the best of both worlds. Condemn actually deals quite a bit of damage if Vayne can pin her opponent against the wall, while Tumble and Silver Bolts give her some great auto-attacking potential. Unfortunately, because of her high damage output, Vayne has a lot of difficulty in dealing with teams who make her a priority. While Tumble is fantastic in a one-on-one fight, especially against champions with skill shots (Morgana or Caitlynn, for example), Vayne becomes extremely reliant on her ultimate to get a stealth with Tumble so that she can survive in hectic team battles.
Vayne is really for players who loved Kog'maw's tank shredding abilities, but were turned off with his long-range sniping play style. Vayne is capable of the same level of damage of Kog'maw (if not more), but she requires a much more active player to get the best out of her. Because Vayne's Tumble is both an escape ability and an offensive ability, it's very easy to simply think of Tumble as being a spammable damage ability, but this almost always leads to a dead Vayne. If you want to stay alive longer than five seconds, you'll definitely need to time your entrance into the fray.
In terms of team setups, Vayne is like any other ranged DPS champion, in that she requires a strong supporting cast in order to really shine. In particular, Vayne is extremely weak to any team with a targetable stun, as a Vayne who isn't tumbling very quickly turns into a trapped one. Thus, Morgana or Kayle offer some great opportunities for Vayne to do her job without fear of dying in two seconds, while front-line tanks with stuns or taunts, like Udyr or Rammus, are great for protecting this squishy huntress. I'd certainly suggest Vayne for anyone who wants one of the strongest damage dealers in the game, but just make sure you've got the right team for it.
