Today marks the launch of Rift Update 1.2, and Trion Worlds is giving players a variety of ways to get into the game and explore the world of Telara. We've already told you about the new Ascend-a-Friend referral program, which lets players give out an unlimited number of 7-day free passes and earn some in-game rewards. But if you don't have any friends currently playing Rift, you can take advantage of the new 7-day free trial!

All you need to do is head over to the Rift free trial page to get your full week of free play time. Free trial players can upgrade to the full game anytime and keep their newly created characters.

Of course, you may want to help a fellow player out by getting your free trial through an Ascend-a-Friend link. A lot of players are going to want to earn the Swift Ember Steed, which requires three of their friends to purchase Rift. Many of our users are sharing links in the Ascend-a-Friend story comments and in this thread on our general forums.
