FFXIV Hot Read Thursday
Check out the hottest topics from the past week of the FFXIV general forum.
Discussions in the forum are still centered around the state of Final Fantasy XIV, as will likely be the case for quite some time. However, last week's update previews from Square Enix helped to alleviate some of the doom and gloom on the forums... but not all of it! Despite the promises for improvement, several players are still criticizing several aspects of the game; some have even branded it "unplayable."
Well, I'm taking a break from playing the unplayable game to bring you this edition of Hot Read Thursday!
On with the links:
Do We Have a Goal in FFXIV...?
What are we expected to do in FFXIV without endgame, notorious monsters or ridable chocobos? The OP questions whether there are any virtual carrots worth chasing, and others contribute their thoughts on the matter. Some posters criticize the game for its lack of content, while others raise the point that perhaps FFXIV is a game best experienced slowly. I pondered this very issue myself while ranking up my gladiator, trying to craft my first piece of armor and talking to linkshell mates about forming a static. What is there to possibly aim for?
Outside looking in: Is FFXIV dead before it really started
Is Final Fantasy dying? A topic which was absolutely taboo in Final Fantasy XI is at the center of discussion in this Hot Read Thursday thread. The main issue here is how much bad press can one game handle, and has FFXIV crossed that threshold? Obviously, the answer is different depending on who you ask. If this game really is dead on arrival though, maybe someone should notify Square Enix... last I heard, they were planning on making tons of improvements. Why make so many improvements to a dead game? When will SE ever learn?!?
In stark contrast to those who have labelled FFXIV as a soulless grindfest devoid of any content, this OP states that she loves the game because it is casual, solo-friendly and allows players to be productive at their own pace. Clearly, the OP just isn't pushing herself hard enough to be the best she can be. Now's the time to be building that insurmountable advantage over PS3 players! Why are you tending to your family when there are still crafts to level?
