Tactics: Melee Classes Comparison Guide
Know you want to play a melee class in TERA but need help deciding which?
Comparison of Skills by Category
Blocking
Berserker:
-
“Weapon Block.” Blocks frontal attacks and provides 75% damage reduction so long as the skill is held. With a 1 second cool-down (CD) and a small Mana Points (MP) cost it will allow you to use it when reasonable but prevent you from spamming it non-stop between all other actions.
Lancer:
-
“Shield Block.” Same as above except it provides 90% damage reduction and also provides the effect to allies behind you.
Taunting
Berserker:
-
“Taunt.” 1.4s cast-time (CT), 30s CD, 4m range, builds aggro and with a chance to proc slow effect. This makes berserker off-tanking capable combined with its weapon blocking capability.
Lancer:
-
“Roar of Defiance.” 1s CT, 5s CD, 10m circular range and greatly builds aggro. With a quicker CT, shorter CD and longer range, lancer is definitely intended to be the primary defensive tank at the front lines and in the center of the action.
-
“Infuriate.” 1.3s CT, 300s CD, 10m range and forces enemies to attack you. This is looking to be the emergency panic button to take control of the situation when control has been lost.
Warrior:
-
“Will of Menace.” This is a toggle skill which raises the aggro level of attacks by 20% at the cost of draining 2 MP per 2s. Only one “Will” type skill may be used at a time. By dancing around an enemy mixing both evasion and attacks, they should be able to serve as an effective evasion style tank.
-
“Dual Sword Dance.” Your immediate surroundings are struck with consecutive attacks with the added bonus of gaining aggro levels. This skill can be used to draw the attention of mobs prior to evading, to help serve a warrior's evasion tanking role.
