Perfect World Genie System Gets Overhaul
A recent Perfect World International patch has made numerous changes to the Genie system. Each Genie, while equipped, will now gain 10% of the total experience you earn while killing monsters or handing in quests. Also, the amount of skills a Genie is able to learn is now determined by the amount of Lucky Points your Genies have instead of the number of Magic Points you put into them.
Many Genie skills have been changed in the patch, and you can view the long list after the jump. Not all skill changes are currently reflected accurately in the game, but this should be fixed in a future patch.

New Genie System
EXP Gaining with Genie has been changed so that Genies can now gain EXP while you kill monsters or hand in quests. Each Genie, while equipped, will gain 10% of the total XP gained. This is in addition to the EXP your character gains (Your character will not gain 10% less EXP). When your Genie reaches the same level as your character, and the Genie reaches 99% of its current level, the 10% EXP gain will be disabled. The old method of infusing EXP or Spirit, or the EXP cubes still remain.
Note: Genie EXP gains are still subject to EXP Infuse ratio rules.
Genie Skill Slots
Previously the amount of Genie Skills a genie was able to learn was determined by the number of Magic Points put into your Genie. The new system determines the number of skills your Genies can learn by the amount of Lucky Points your Genies have. The following table is used to determine how many skill slots your Genie can have.
- Lucky Points 0-50: 4 Skill Slots
- Lucky Points 51-70: 5 Skill Slots
- Lucky Points 71-80: 6 Skill Slots
- Lucky Points 81-90: 7 Skill Slots
- Lucky Points 91 or more: 8 Skill Slots
Genies that have more skills than the maximum amount allowed after this change will have the excess skills grayed out and unavailable. You will need to unlearn skills until the amount is appropriate to the maximum skill allowed.
Due to these changes and the following list of Genie Skill changes, the Watcher of the Earth will offer free Stone of Refreshment and Origination Orders to re-spec your Genie. Please note that this quest is only available once per character.
- Character Level + Amount of Origination Orders:
- Level 20-39 = 20 Origination Orders
- Level 40-59 = 40 Origination Orders
- Level 60-79 = 60 Origination Orders
- Level 80+ = 80 Origination Orders
All levels above 20 will receive 1 Stone of Refreshment.
List of Genie Skill changes
LEVEL 1 SKILLS
Adrenaline Surge - Genie Strength and Dexterity points now reduce the Energy cost by 1 per 5 points. The effect will now always have the same duration, based on skill level.
Qi Manipulation - Genie Strength points now increase the amount of Chi drained by 10 per point. The effect will now always last for 15 seconds.
Blinding Sand - Now only affects one target. Accuracy and casting speed are now reduced by the same amount. Genie Strength and Dexterity points now increase the reduction value by 1% per 8 points. The effect will now always last for 8 seconds.
Healing Ripple of Rebirth - Energy cost reduced by 10. Genie Strength and Dexterity points now increase the amount of health and chi regenerated by 1% per 5 points. The effect will now always last for 9 seconds.
Cauterize - Energy cost reduced by 10. Base success rate reduced slightly. Genie Strength and Dexterity points now increase the success rate by 1% per 4 points (up from 10 points).
Blood Clot - Genie Strength and Dexterity points now reduce the energy cost by 1 per 5 points. The effect will now always have the same duration, based on skill level.
LEVEL 2 SKILLS
Blade of Supreme Heat - Energy cost and fire damage reduced slightly. Physical damage increased. Cooldown increased to 8 seconds. No longer reduces Metal resistance.
Spark - Base Fire Resistance reduction lowered. Genie Dexterity points now increase the damage by 6.7 per point and the Fire Resistance reduction by 0.7% per point. The effect wil now always last for 6 seconds.
Earthquake - Genie Dexterity points now increase the damage by 3.1 per point (old: 1% per point).
Aiding Ripple of Luck - Base duration reduced from 8 seconds to 5.
Solid Shield - Genie Dexterity points now increase the amount absorbed by 1% per 4 points (down from 10) and the duration by 1 second per 25 points (up from 20).
LEVEL 3 SKILLS
Wind Shield - Genie Dexterity points now also increase the damage reduction by 1% per 8 points.
Nullify Poison - Genie Strength and Dexterity points now reduce the energy cost by 1 per 5 points. The effect will now always have the same duration, based on skill level.
Sand Shield - Genie Strength and Dexterity points now reduce the energy cost by 1 per 5 points. The effect will now always have the same duration, based on skill level.
Leaf Dance - This skill has been completely redesigned. Now increases your cristrike rate by 2%. Genie Strength points increase the duration by 1 second per point.
Essence Penetration - This skill has been completely redesigned and renamed "Second Wind." Now instantly heals you for a small amount. Requisite Affinity Wood 1/Earth 1/Water 1. Minimum level 10. Genie Strength points increase the potency of the heal by 2% per point.
Soul of Fire - Genie Strength and Dexterity points now reduce the energy cost by 1 per 5 points. The effect will now always have the same duration, based on skill level.
LEVEL 4 SKILLS
Heart of Steel - Genie Strength and Dexterity points now reduce the energy cost by 1 per 5 points. The effect will now always have the same duration, based on skill level.
Extreme Poison - Energy cost reduced by 10. Genie Dexterity points now increase the duration by 1 second per 10 points.
Tai Chi - Energy cost reduced by 10. Base movement speed increase reduced. Genie Dexterity points now increase the speed effect by 1% per 4 points.
Impact - Energy cost reduced by 10. Genie Strength points now also increase the damage by 6.7 per point.
Yin Yang Seal - Energy cost reduced by 10. Genie Strength points now also increase the damage by 3.7 per point.
Celestial Sword - Now consumes all energy. Damage dealt is based on energy consumed. Stamina cost changed to 500. No longer does double damage to targets in melee range.
Acidic Ripple of Poison - Energy cost reduced by 10.
Whirlwind - Energy cost reduced by 10. Cooldown increased to 15 seconds. Genie Strength points now increase the damage by 4.3 per point, the slowing effect by 2% per 5 points, and the duration by 1 second per 30 points (old: increased the duration by 1 second per 40 points).
Remove Paralysis - Energy cost reduced by 10. Genie strength points now also increase the success rate by 1% per 4 points.
LEVEL 5 SKILLS
Wind Prison - Energy cost reduced by 10. Base success rate reduced. Genie Dexterity points now increase the success rate by 1% per 4 points (down from 5).
Fortify - Energy cost reduced by 10. Base duration reduced to 3 seconds (down from 5). Genie Dexterity points now increase the duration by 1 second per 30 points (down from 50).
Evil Ward - Genie Strength and Dexterity points now reduce the energy cost by 1 per 5 points. The effect will now always have the same duration, based on skill level.
Relentless Courage - Energy cost reduced by 15. Base values for all three effects reduced. Genie Dexterity points now increase the potency of all three effects by 1% per 20 points (old: only increased attack rate and channeling speed).
Piercing Flames - Energy cost reduced by 10. Now also usable by Barbarians. Success rate now based on the caster's accuracy. Genie Strength points now also increase the damage by 3.7 per point.
Lightning Chaser - Energy cost reduced by 14. Stamina cost increased by 25. Genie Strength points now increase the damage by 6.7 per point (old: 1% per point). Genie Dexterity points now also increase the interrupt chance by 1% per point.
Mantle Ripple of Death - Energy cost reduced by 10. The damage component of this spell has been removed. The chi reduction effect is no longer 100% at lower skill levels. Genie Strength points now increase the chi reduction by 1 per point and the duration by 1 second per 5 points.
Oxygen Bubble - Genie Strength points now reduce the energy cost by 1 per 5 points. Genie Dexterity points now reduce the energy cost by 1 per 80 points. The effect will now always have the same duration, based on skill level.
LEVEL 6 SKILLS
Air Strand - Energy cost reduced by 10. This skill now uses Genie Strength instead of Dexterity.
Will Surge - Genie Strength points now reduce the energy cost by 1 per 5 points. The effect will now always last for 7 seconds.
Frenzy - Every 10 Genie STR point decreases the energy cost by 1. Effect time is 8 seconds.
Life Drain - Reduced base energy cost to 60. Genie Dexterity determines the amount of damage and healing.
Earthblaze - Reduced base energy cost to 70. No longer provides a speed buff/de-buff. Genie Dexterity increases fire reduction and fire damage.
Mantle Ripple of Rage - Reduced base energy cost to 70. Skill level now determines the effect range while Genie Strength determines effect duration.
Stunning Blast - Reduced base energy cost to 70.
Holy Path – Now self cast only.
True Emptiness - Genie Strength determines damage, duration, and max shield absorption.
LEVEL 7 SKILLS
Rumbling Thunder - Reduced base energy cost to 75. Increased base Stamina cost to 500.
Poisonous Swarm - Reduced base energy cost to 70. Genie Dexterity determines HP reduction. Genie Strength determines MP and Chi reduction.
Earth Strand - Reduced base energy cost to 75. Increased base Stamina cost to 500. 100% damage success rate. Immobilize for 2 seconds.
Occult Ice - Reduced base energy cost to 80. Genie Strength determines chance to freeze rate.
Thunderstorm - Reduced base energy cost to 75. Genie Dexterity determines damage output.
Lawbreaker - Reduced base energy cost to 75. Genie Strength determines success rate.
Tree of Protection - Reduced base energy cost to 70. Increased base Stamina cost to 700. Requisite Affinity: Wood 3, Water 4. Genie Level Requisite and Spirit: 31 (2780), 36 (4000), 41 (5620), 46 (7780), 51 (10640), 56 (14480), 61 (19660), 66 (26600), 71 (36200), 76 (59000). Genie Strength determines Max HP increase. Genie Dexterity determines the amount of HP restored during the effect.
Badge of Courage - Reduced base energy cost to 75. Genie Dexterity determines success rate.
Earth Claw - Increased base stamina cost to 600. Increased cooldown to 30 seconds. Only useable on the ground. Deals 3x damage to ground units.
LEVEL 8 SKILLS
Electro Dance - Reduced base energy cost to 85. Genie Dexterity determines damage output.
Elemental Weakness - Reduced base energy cost to 85. Genie Dexterity determines the amount of Physical Defense increase and Elemental Resistance decrease.
Dust Storm - Reduced base energy cost to 85. Increased base Stamina cost to 500. Increased cooldown to 30 seconds. Genie Dexterity determines damage and slow percentage. Slow effect duration fixed at 5 seconds.
Battle Ripple Oblivion - Reduced Base energy cost to 85. Genie Dexterity determines Water resistance %.
Aquaflame Armor - Reduced base energy cost to 95. Genie Dexterity determines damage reduction and increase %.
Seal - Increased base stamina cost to 600. Increased cooldown to 60 seconds. Genie Dexterity determines chance to Silence.
Hollow Fist - Reduced base energy cost to 85. Increased base stamina cost to 700. Genie Strength determines Phys and Metal damage, and Bleed damage.
LEVEL 9 SKILLS
Balance - Reduced base energy cost to 108. Genie Strength determines effect time.
Alpha Male - Increased base stamina cost to 900. Genie Level determines reflect damage. Genie Strength determines effect duration.
Mage Star - Reduced base energy cost to 108. Genie Dexterity determines effect time.
Reflective Aura - Reduced base energy cost to 70. Genie Strength determines effect time.
LEVEL 10 SKILLS
Blazing Shield - Reduced base energy cost to 120. Increased base stamina cost to 999. Genie Strength determines chance of immune to Silence and Sleep. Genie Dexterity determines chance of immune to Slow and Stun. Reduced effect time by 50%.
Weakness - Reduced base energy cost to 115. Lowered the amount of attack speed lowered by 20%.
Aquaflame Shot - Reduced base energy cost to 115. Increased base stamina cost to 600. Removed Paralyze effect. Now has a chance to recover 20% of HP.
LEVEL 11 SKILLS
Frozen Domain - Reduced base energy cost to 125. Genie Dexterity determines damage and reduced attack/casting speed effect.
Dampen Magic Curse - Reduced base energy cost to 125.
Expel - Reduced base energy cost to 125.
LEVEL 12 SKILLS
Phoenix Dance - Reduced base energy cost to 135. Genie Dexterity determines damage and effect duration.
Absolute Domain - Reduced base energy cost to 135. Increased base stamina cost to 999.
Cloud Eruption - Reduced base energy cost to 130. Increased base stamina cost to 500. No longer effects the opponent's Chi.
LEVEL 13 SKILLS
Bramble Rage - Reduced base energy cost to 140. Increased cooldown to 60 seconds. No longer has a Chi reducing effect.
Dragonfire - Reduced base energy cost to 140. Genie Strength determines Physical damage and Reduced Defense effect duration. Genie Dexterity determines Fire Damage.
Inflame - Reduced base energy cost to 140. Genie Dexterity determines damage output, chance to confuse, and effect duration. Damage levels slightly increased.
LEVEL 14 SKILLS
Chi Siphon - Reduced base energy cost to 130. Lowered the amount of Chi reduced and removed the target's Chi increase effect.
Ice Blast - Reduced base energy cost to 160. Reduced the amount of Max HP lowered. Always lasts for 5 seconds.
Chaotic Spirit - Reduced base energy cost to 160. Genie Dexterity determines success rate. Lowered the base success rate.
Faith - Reduced base energy cost to 160. Genie Strength determines final energy cost. Increased base stamina cost to 500. Increased cooldown time to 60 seconds. Effect duration lasts 5 seconds.
Note: Not all skill changes are reflected accurately in-game. This should be fixed in a future maintenance
Bug Fixes/Changes
Untamed Spiritual Cultivation - Untamed players will now be able to once again receive their Spiritual Cultivation quests.
