Introducing the Square Enix Security Token
Since late 2008, account security in the world of Vana'diel has become increasingly important to players. A security device similar to Blizzard's WoW Authenticator has come up for discussion several times since the idea was first mentioned at a Premier Site Summit. In December of 2008, Sage Sundi stated in an interview with Allakhazam that they were hoping to have the device available to players in 2009.
His words now ring true.
As a response to the security issues plaguing players, Square Enix has released info regarding the Square Enix Security Token, a hand-held device that players can optionally purchase in order to bolster account safety by using a constantly changing one-time password for logging in.
