Gunbad Tunnels
"I's gots betta fings ta do den go ta Gunbad 'n scrap wif a buncha Gobbos! Youse tell Grumlok dat he can come down 'ere and kill me 'imself if 'e wants to. I ain't budgin'! "
-- The final words of Warlord Heava Sixtoes, as overheard by Grumlok
The Gunbad Tunnels consist of three wings, and are suitable for a group of 6 characters between 23rd and 27th level.
Entrance Location
The entrance to the Gunbad Tunnels is in the northwestern portion of the Badlands.Theme
Night Goblins, considered to be mad by most civilized peoples, infest the tunnels of Mount Gunbad like deranged parasites. In their delving, the Goblins have discovered many amazing funguses, yet they have also uncovered the remnants of the Mourkain Necromancers. In this sense, the Gunbad Tunnels have been made even more dangerous, and woe betide the adventurers who dare to enter the dark place.
"Da humies is comin'? Drink up dat fungus beer, boys, and do it right quick! We's gonna 'ave a party!"-- Coffa Flemspor, Night Goblin Shaman
Bastion Stair
Bastion Stair consists of three wings, and is suitable for a group of 6 characters between 33rd and 39th level.
Entrance Location
Any who wish to enter the Bastion Stair must risk madness and search for it within the Chaos Wastes.
"I seen it, clear as the nose on my face: a towering fortress that weren't of this world. The place reeks of doom. It's heavy on the air, and it ain't easy to breathe. As if that weren't enough, you can hear the distant cries of the dying as the Blood God's lackeys put 'em through unspeakable torments.
"I didn't go in, no. I'm not that brave. I'll take my chances out here with the Daemons and the Chaos storms and the madness, thanks."
-- Dolph Venwald, Empire Soldier
Theme
The Bastion Stair is a place of Chaos, stained with the blood of countless dead. It is the domain of Khorne, otherwise known as the Blood God and the Skull Lord. The winds that eddy forth from the Stair carry with them the stench of death and decay, a terrible reminder of the fate that awaits the unskilled or unwary.
There is rumored to be a corrupting rift within the Bastion Stair that is open to the realms of Chaos, but few have returned to put the legends to rest.
"We bring skulls and blood for you, oh Master. We lay our gifts at your bloodied feet. Gift us with death this day, for our only wish is to die in your service."-- A Prayer to Khorne
Warpblade Tunnels
The Warpblade Tunnels are suitable for a group of 6 level 40 characters.
Entrance Location
There are many entrances into the Warpblade Tunnels, and these can be found within the basements of the Blowhole Tavern and the Reikland Arms by inquisitive or foolish adventurers.
"You wanna know why I like cats, friend? Let me tell you a story.
"Once, maybe ten or twelve years back, I got soused with some of my chums. I don't know how we got down there, but I remember comin' to in the foulest tunnels I'd ever seen. My best mate, Thomas, was propped up in a corner, sort of wigglin' with his arm reachin' out into the shadows. I hawked some vomit-flavored spit onto the floor and called to him, 'Thom, what's that you got there?'
"He didn't answer me.
"Then I noticed that it weren't him that had somethin', it was somethin' that had him. Somethin' big and rat-like was eatin' his hand, like it was sausages on a stick.
"Run? I bloody well flew outta that place. Ever since then, I ain't touched a bottle o' liquor, and I ain't never lived without at least six cats for company."
-- Jonas Weiss, the so-called "Crazy Cat Man of Altdorf"
Theme
The Skaven that swarm beneath Altdorf are an infestation that goes largely unnoticed by the surface-dwellers. Not only do they hold sway in the city's sewers, they are also lords of the Warplade Tunnels -- a twisting and turning complex of caverns that stretch deep below the city and into areas best left unexplored. The members of the Warpblade clan squeak and chitter in the eldritch light cast by veins of Warpstone. They are wary and vigilant, and they do not suffer intruders to live.
"What is it, Thorqit? Is it a man-thing? Is it tasty-sweet?"
"A man-thing! It is! Yes-yes!"
"I want-want its legs!"
"You always take-get the legs, Beekik! Always-always!"
"That's because I'm bigger-stronger than you, Thorqit! You want-want the legs? Try to claim-take them!"
"No-no! I don't want-want them so badly-much! The arms will be juicy-tasty enough for me, as small-weak as I am!"
"Do not overlook-forget it, Thorqit! Now bring-carry the body!"-- Culinary discussion between Beekik and Thorqit of Clan Warpblade
Bloodwrought Enclave
The Bloodwrought Enclave is suitable for a group of 6 level 40 characters.
Entrance Location
The Bloodwrought Enclave can be found within the Undercroft of the Inevitable City. The screams of pain, shouts of battle, and clash of steel can be heard long before one approaches the Enclave's front entrance.
"It's as if that horrible place isn't horrible enough. They've got to cow tow to the blood-stained Skull Lord and his brutal worshippers for fear of losing his support. I hate to say it, but the Blood God isn't satisfied with the Bloodwrought enclave alone. No, he wants the whole of the City, and he means to take it from Tchar'zanek when the time is right."
-- Franz Joseph, Imperial Scholar
Theme
War never ends within the Bloodwrought Enclave. Barakus the Godslayer sees to this, for he has ever been a loyal servant of Khorne. Even when he was a mere mortal, Barakus thirsted for spilled blood like a ravening beast, and his hunger for battle was never truly sated. Now he is cursed to remain within the Enclave, eternally tormented and eternally at arms.
"Leave none alive who do not bend their knee to the Blood God!"
-- Barakus the Godslayer
