In the ever-present attempt to render Campaign more agreeable to the player palate, the September version update will play host to a veritable smorgasbord of additions and tweaks, adjustments and tunings! And now is as good a time as any to let the players in on some of what we've got in store.

Beastman Confederate Stronghold Notorious Monsters

In a turn of events that bodes only ill, a new class of beastman elite will be garrisoned at each of the strongholds located in La Vaule [S], Beadeaux [S], and Castle Oztroja [S]. Each group is comprised of a total of eight notorious monsters, their very presence mocking the Allied Forces' efforts from behind well-defended walls.

Defeating these new NMs will result in a marked decrease in the defensive capabilities(*1 ) of the strongholds under beastman control. In addition, they may drop treasure items which can be used by players to increase the defenses of the Allied Forces' own strongholds. Thus, their significance in the outcome of the war can hardly be overlooked.

Further, amassing a collection of eight Key Items by felling all of a stronghold's NMs will grant players the opportunity to enter a battlefield (*2 ) where even more dangerous foes await...

*1: Defensive capabilities refers specifically to a total of eight Campaign-related factors, such as funds, tactics, reconnaissance, etc. These statistics can be checked by either talking to the proper Campaign NPCs in any of the three nations, or from the Region Info option under the Main Menu.

*2: Only one of the members entering the battlefield is required to be in possession of the eight Key Items.

Influence Over Areas

It has been noted that the trend on many servers since the implementation of Campaign has been for the Allied Forces to fall well behind the Beastman Confederate in terms of influence over areas, with the disparity being quite difficult to overcome once in place. Therefore, the coming version update will usher in several changes that will make it easier to win influence, with the goal of increasing the likelihood of areas changing hands as the war rages on.

Another area of the Campaign system which will see further enhancement in September is that of freelances. To take just one example, players can look forward to a new wandering scholar NPC who, once recruited, will take up residence in your nation's capital and aid the war effort by readily dispensing invaluable information.

Campaign Battle Performance Assessments

The judging of player performances in Campaign battles at the hands of Campaign Arbiters will see several adjustments. These changes will focus primarily on the use of enhancing magic and songs, though there will also be adjustments to the methods of calculation, as well as limits placed upon single assessments.

Simplification of Campaign Evaluation Standards

The requirements needed for each medal become more and more stringent as a player progresses in rank. However, recent trends indicate that as the conditions necessary in the upper ranks become more demanding, considerably more time is demanded of players to either maintain their current rank, or to advance via further promotion. The end result is an inability for players to enjoy the ease of participation and simple battle system as originally intended.

In response to this, players can expect the standards of Campaign evaluations to be simplified in order to make the entire process more agreeable and accessible.

New Campaign Ops

New Campaign Ops focusing on the wartime training of physicians are also in development. Successful completion of these Ops will ultimately serve to ease the strategic defense of the Allied Forces' areas, and hold the Beastman Confederate at bay.

good heavens get a life. did your pappy slap you and you decided to take it out on /bards who arent hurting you one little bit?

/bard arent lazy. its s very useful way to get some quick experience between rl work.

i find it amazing that so many people are so self righteous when its not even their concern. /bard hurts no one. and who says the singing doent help in campaign? i know for darned sure the mpking helps no one but psychotics get off.

get a little empathy and intelligence going and try to understand what is happening. not what you think is happening.
is this enough?

I don't know about anyone else, but the trend I am seeing on Bahamut (thnx to the lazy bums that play here) is that the Beastmen are being allowed to take over all areas so that there is minimal "work" involved with doing campaign, If you only have to report to main city then all you need is a retrace and bam there you are with a campaign battle beginning shortly, with no expenditure of AN. SE really needs to fix this, as well as the expiration on ranks. Just wtf they thinking when they thought to implement this as well as walking all over the place...I dont know. I do have a couple of ideas if I may ^^. Make ranking up worth something and allow players to retain thier rank, you can rank up in assault then never assault again for 4 years and come back to the same rank? Cmon! Once someone attains a certain rank unlock chocobos for them to use, cmon SE you can do it!! I believe in you, being able to admit you were wrong! ^^. In order to kill Allied note "leeching", SE can implement the following or a variation of it. 1) If a country controls two areas they can purchase Items from tier one items. 2) If a country controls four areas they can purchase from tier two Items, and so on, and If you only control Home city then you and your allied Notes are basically F&@%ed!. I don't know about anyone else but this expansion has so much promise to it and it is sad that the areas and thier servers are pretty much going to waste, the only time I see anyone headed to the expansion areas is to find the Sandworm NM & hopefully get Lambton^^ (go Kazoku!!) Ixion, or sadly to level an unpopular job through campaign. Hell another way to get people hot about new areas could be to put some sky gear as rewards for attaining a certain rank and or qualification? Such as: Your country completely controls all areas and you attain the top most rank? Maybe being able to purchase a rare/ex version of Kirin's Osode? or Byakko's Haidate? Now who wouldn't want some Haidate? This last expansion would fly off shelves with perks like that.

P.S. I want a raise SE ^^
is this enough?

I suggested that a while ago (and yes I am on the same server as you hehe). I agree with you though.... home nation battles causes no effort ...... they are long drawn out battles with no purpose except for a players experience points and thats really all they want except for AN. Windurst Waters (S) used to be filled with 100 people who would just stay there doing nothing. I bet you a number of them decided to go to Bastok Markets (S) since Windurst finally has wins.

But back to the point I did suggest the "no item for no regions" idea but then a post in a thread made me think to keep the preexisting items but create a better item that can take this effect. The chocobo seems like a nice idea but then who really needs a chocobo when you can just teleport for AN?
Sub Bard? GET LOST!

Seriously, I play a WHM (58). Therefore I do not really fight. My main goal is to keep the players that do chose to melee alive. I usually stinky exp when I do this. I do not like the fact that people the sub brd get exp without ever swinging a sword. I believe that this issue takes alot of creditability of some of the players away.

when you cant find a tank (because there's only two of those out of the multitude of jobs out there)

there's no other option but to /BRD it up.

Nice notice to do it more often before Square takes my EXP source away and as a result **** campaign even more from my job that I cant lvl up because people wont invite SCH's at my lvl.

If it helps, I never do it where people are around and/or near the Assesment NPC, that just causes lag, another thing we dont need.

I go far away, sing my songs, and when I have MP, GA protect/shel;l and/or cure people for more points/exp.

I hardly see anything wrong with the way I'm doing it, im still helping in the "campaign war to win back our territory" (as if anyone cared about that...

as for the people that just sing songs 14 times and trade in for exp and allied notes, the fact is they are STILL not doing anything that scrus over your precious campaign.

If they weren;t there to help, then you see them as leeches, but from another angle, if they were in a town for example, they STILL arent helping in campaign now are they?

At the very least I'M singing my songs, making sure the last two are the ballads for MP, and tossing stupid people who think they can solo everything their Cures that they badly need and Raising people that are dead because of their selfishness.

Quit ******** at the fact that you:

A. probably dont have BRD'd lvl'd high enough to macro in 10 songs on 2-3 macros for some free exp/notes.

or B. Assume that one "leecher" as you call them = one less spot for a true campaigner to come and actually help, because this isnt the case, this isn;t Beseiged where only X amt of people can enter, because ive never been to a campaign that told me I couldnt join, because NOT THAT MANY PEOPLE DO IT IN THE SAME FKKN AREA.
screwed campaign
# Aug 16 2008 at 1:05 AM Rating: Decent
yeah last update they screwed people who actually fight and handed the exp points to the lazy a-holes that stand there and buff themselves the whole time. About damn time they fixed it.

Srsly. I've trash talked them in say multiple times and they just keep spamming songs...sometimes long after a campaign fight ends. Wait...
Fail

The NM thing is pointless. 90% of ppl in campaign dont give a rats *** about getting areas back or defeating NMs etc all they care about is getting exp. Also if you have to kill these NMs in those bstman strongholds which no one I mean no one ever bothers to even do battle in then whats the point. The only thing that may get ppl to try this is if the NMs in the battlefield that you get with the 8 items drop amazing gear. We shall see how this goes.
Ha! Screw you /brd
