While this seems to be another high end expansion I have to say it kinda looks neat. I have been playing eq2 and it sounds like alot of this expansion involves things that happened 500 years before eq2.

There is actually a zone in EQ2 called Mines of Meldrath . He is a ghost and you have to fight a bunch of his clockwork inventions and eventually he posses one of them and you get to fight him.

$40 is way too much though IMO, although I guess it doesn't really matter since I don't play the game anymore anyways.

LOL seriously? I love eq, but I play eq2 mainly because of the graphics! The last huge graphics update for all eq1 races was back in what....2002? I have to say the new werewolves look cool, as well as kobolds. If they added the option for shadows, the game would look that much better!

heh Well I was being a bit sarcastic there, The graphics shown all seem to be mobs found in other zones, and nothing new.

And tbh, EQ1 does have a shadows option, it just doesn't run to smoothly on most machine's I've played on.

I don't tend to complain about new content but I really would have liked to see a lot more new model's being as this is the once a year expansion now..?

Feelings

Maybe the wrong place to post an ever growing frustration but here goes....Great now we get to see power-leveled level 80's running around in level 50 zones showing off how powerful they are! I went into Crystal Caverns with my level 20 mage to find it almost totally cleaned out by a level 70. When they did start respawning the level 70 SK went so far as to even pull off the one I was fighting. In the OCC that followed they told me it was their camp first....the whole freaking zone! Bad manners...yes...Bad player...yes...Power crazy....priceless! I think they should have kept the level cap at 75 and just sent in some more aa's at a higher cost to keep us busy. Why add new zones when the dust on the trail of old zones lies undisturbed? Why not rewrite some of the old zones to look at who goes in to give them a challange at their level? Oh well I am off to find another camp and I think I will just keep my money in my pocket this time to pay for gas instead of a game.
Incentive for Retail Distribution?

Has there been any discussion of an incentive for buying at retail like there has been in the past? (E.g. Roboboar)

If you look at an old eq map that used to come with the games, it has loping plains marked on it.

Stop the belly aching about a new expansion coming out that is mainly for high lvl and raiding guilds. You are not the only person that plays eq and SONY has to try to keep everyone interested. If I remember right, TSS did come with a new class and newbie zones. If revamps cause lag, get a better computer! Technology is always getting better so keep up! There is no reason for people who have good comps to suffer cause their game has inferior graphics. Sony has to keep up with competition. I use to feel the same way as you until I joined a guild that is all about raiding these high lvl zones and we are going in order. It is really fun and you get your money's worth out of the game. Seriously no reason to play if you do not take advantage of that the game is truely offering. However, I would like a little more time to explore these expansions since I work like 50+ hours a week and can not spend the endless hours that some do on this game. Maybe I should start playing the lottery, maybe I will get lucky.

No, he's not the only one to feel this way. I'm in a mid level raiding guild, and I still love new expansions, if nothing else, getting level 80 will make some stuff easier for you solo only players, and especially for groupable encounters. If you're not max level, well then, you should either have max aa's, max tradeskills, or something to show for your time in game, hell I don't care if you monster mission your way to max level, there is no excuse not to be there unless you just haven't tried, so these expansions "should" help everyone. For those of you that sit around PoK, chat with friends, and maybe go group stuff in Sol C every now and then, quit complaining, you're few and far between, and go out and get max level FFS.

Would be nice to be able to run a 50 something toon solo anywhere really. honestly where can you actually solo at 50ish?? It'd also be nice to see some good content for those of us who aren't 75, and in uber raiding guilds.... just a thought
why?

yet another attempt to run ppl from the game...my guild stays in the old world zones and we love them just the way they are...im sure revamps are soon to come...which means endless hours of lag...and at 40 bucks a month...on top of the 15 bucks a month we pay for the basic...and they way the implemented LoN just before the release of the new expansion...im glad they seem to feel the need to focus on making all these new zones when they dont hapve the population to keep the other zones habitated...great job sony...shove EQ down our throats...bankrupt everyone and see who plays ur games then!

*on a personal note, i am not this bitter...it is just aggravating to see how they shove expansion after expansion down our throats when they wont fix the issues that im sure are too many to count...

I run 3 accounts and yes I will have a lot of fun. $40 is reasonable. I went out last night instead of raiding. Had a few drinks and great food and it cost me $60.

The real cost of eq for me is when I take time of work in the Fabled season. I make $50 an hour so that really bites when I take 2 hours off in the evening to kill the Fabled Emporor in SSRA.

Remember its only $40 for a whole year and you only pay for the expansion once per account.

$40 bucks for all expansions including SoF, thats nothing anymore, when EACH expansion used to cost you 20-30 bucks a piece...

But all I want is the new expansion. I don't need all the prior ones since I already purchased them.

You are saying there is only going to be a $40 for everything option? Not a $20 for just this one choice?

It's nice for those that want to catch up, but a rip-off to ask us to pay for them again.

You're paying $40 a YEAR for EQ expansions now, not $60 from when they released 2 $30 expansions.
