It will be interesting to see just how they make Blue Mages different from Rdm. Obviously this "fighter mage" will be similar but perhaps Blue Mages will be more offensive and won't have the heals and buffs that a rdm would have. Only time will tell, I suppose. Perhaps rather than nerfing blm, they can add Blue Mages to give Blm more competition. Another thing I'd like to see would be something like a Dwarf race. I always liked those guys in other games but it probably would never happen in FFXI.
anyone think that BLU spells might be similar to NIN, in that you need the scroll for spell, but tools to use it? or even items BLU can use when main, such as BST jug pets and pet food... cause thatd prevent alot of high lvls from going out and learning 1000 needles or Sickle Slash on /1blu
The new areas will most probably connected to norg, I mean listen to half the freaks there, they either say something like "Yarr" or "Yeaargh" so, pirates :P
And it can't be just hit and survive, I think SE would want BLU's to be gettin the supportive techniques mobs use also, such as crab's stoneskin/defence boost, so you can't be hit by that can you? I'm guessing you need to use a magic, or a JA, like Kimahri in FFX and lancet, how he used that to be able to get enemy abilities and unleash when his overdrive meter was full.
Ive always wanted them to add more excitement into the game, like random HNMs that pop in common areas. The cities attacked by beastmen. I would love to have a random Horn go off in jueno signaling a dragon attack, and then have a huge dragon take out all of the people that sit infront of the lower jueno ah. They could make it with no exp loss, just something fun. Why dont things attack the airships? If the nation lets the bstmen control the zone, actually add harder bstmen. Not saying the games easy, but it seems that the hardest part about the game itself is making gil, and finding a party?!?! am i wrong? Make staying alive harder.
Oh and definetly goes through norg. Maybe out of the tenshodo too.
Persoanlly, I think it will be another melee job, but it won't be a damage dealer through its physical damage. Instead, it will be doing its damage with monster abilities. Above you can see that those Blue Mages are using Spider web and some fire breath move (I think its from the hound family but can't remember the name of the ability.) I expect a Blue Mage will be able to learn an ability from all of the different monster families. Possibly more than one ability from certain families such as the Dhalmel's having that curing themselves and their surrounding friends, and the extreme defense down move. I expect this job to be somewhat of a replacement of a Red Mage, in the fact that it will be doing a lot of moves that enfeeble the enemy - although I'm probably wrong.
However, there were great moves that were used in Final Fantasy V that only the Blue Mage job could learn, for example back then, Aero wasn't a Black Mage spell, instead a Blue Mage would learn it. This fact is what will support my suspisions above wrong. A famous Blue Mage spell, one of the most famous I would think, is 1000 Needles. Imagine a Blue Mage as a damage dealer in the place of a Black Mage (possilby) and this is one of the final attacks used to finish the monster off. They also learned abilities like Flare, and Ultima in past games. These little facts will make the wondering of what this job will be capable of in Final Fantasy XI.
Some abilities that I think will be in the game are as follows: Hare Family: Dust Cloud Bird Family: That gust move Big Bird Family: The even bigger gust move that is AoE Worm Family: Sand Spin Crab Family: Defense Bonus (not Stoneskin) Damslfly Family: Cursed Sphere Scorpion Family: Cold Breath move Fish Family: Splash Breath and/or Aqua Ball
And thats just to name a few.
P.S. I wonder how good this job is gonna be in Ballista...
IT IS a Blue Mage. Blue Mages learn abilities from the enemies. And as someone previously quoted:
Quote:
"Employing the legendary arts of Aht Urhgan, these formidable fighter-mages employ elegantly curved blades for close combat, while decimating their enemies from afar with fell magic mastered from their opponents."
You should know if you have played other Final Fantasy titles.
this looks awsome i wonder if there going to add the new smn's like i heard might just be rumor tho. that job we all see might not even blu mage might be that job thats like a blm but alot stronger i forget get them name sorry, it has supose to be unerground for long time and even the blm fear it. o well guess well find out soon enough^^
If you look at the first pic good, it looks like an Arabian Knight from Aladian or something. same with the 5th pic, it looks like something over in arabia or were ever Aladian takes place. ( spelling on Aladian is 100% wrong lmao )
so this job will specialize mostly in daggers or swords. maybe they will make a new weapon but doubt it. i would think this would cross thf and black mage making it kinda like red mage.
doubt it will have shadows like ninja but could. Aladian was like a self person, so maybe instead of having warcry or rampart, it will have things like berserk and such.
NOONE knows but SE. This could even be the new tank. using spells to take hate, dual wield daggers or swords.
"Employing the legendary arts of Aht Urhgan, these formidable fighter-mages employ elegantly curved blades for close combat, while decimating their enemies from afar with fell magic mastered from their opponents."
It is just like a RDM, except they will have a "better" excuse for fighting and its "enemy skills" not regular magic. Its just so frusterating to see them do this, yet not correct Red Mage at all. What was all the JSE for with +accuracy on it?
I'd say give it about a month into it, and watch the melee jobs start ******** about a mage fighting.
Sata sickle slash would be killer. Probably would'nt work though... >_> It would depend if the moves were treated like job abilities or magic.
Some dude in my LS said that he heard that there would be 2 new jobs in the upcoming expansion: blue mage and calculator. I don't know if this is BS or what, but calculator would be nice, if you were good. It would be nice to have another all-purpose class like rdm around -- helping reduce time looking for a whm. Think FF Tactics for Playstation...
I would assume you have to be certain levels before you were capable of learning certain abilities.. You might just learn them by experiencing them, but what would they do for BLU's 2hr? I hope they don't make it so the 2hr is required to learn new abilities.. That would be pretty lame. >.> Then again, I don't think they'd do that because the 2hr would be useless after they'd learned everything.
Another idea.. I bet BLU would be a really good sub-job for BST. :)
Blue Mage sounds little more than a modified Red Mage. Sure they use enemy skills, but they won't be nearly as powerful as the enemy who cast it (they'll omit the big ones from the spell roster, you can be sure of that). They'll be able to slow enemies, blind them, maybe even attack them with magic... hey that sounds familar.
I don't think they would put another RDM style job into the game. So how are they making it different? They are probably making them so they are supposed to melee. The problem I have with RDM is I want to cast and melee, but its either not accepted (close minded people who are selfish), or its not the appropriate party/enemy. I think SE knows that a lot of RDM feel this way (why I like Necro/Warrior builds for other games like GW and Diablo II).
It seems to me Blue Mage would be SE's solution to this. How? Maybe by putting a timer for spells instead of MP. That way, there is no detrimental effect for casting, and there is no resting involved. I speculate that a cutlass or sabre line of weapons will become available to them.
However, this is just speculation on my part, though it would seem to fit the bill. There seem to be too many jobs that do the same exact thing now, so I hope Blue Mage is vastly different.
My theory is that you will have to learn the abilities by being hit and surviving.. not learn the spells via scrolls or items or what not.. Those methods = very uber lame.. The only true way to learn Blue Magic is to be hit and survive.. thats why that method was used like 5x more than the item usage or "eating" way.. FF5 Blue Mage and Strago rawk.. I'm gonna prolly get this job right away and figure everything out by myself.. **** shouts lol
That or possibly having to "absorb it" via a spell you get at like level 10. It might even have conditions like the enemy has to be below 30% health. I hope thats not the case though.
Here's some food for thought. Has anybody watched the high res videos from microsoft of FFXI for the Xbox-360? And has those people watched the video for the expansion from the SE site. What I've noticed is that stuff from the expansion are shown in the 360 video, so I think that the expansion will be launching around Nov this year. What are some of your thoughts on this everyone?
