Ok I have a good story. It all started when I was going to get my jboots for my little monk. This was probably around 2003 or 2004. I hadn't been playing EQ very long. I couldn't carry that much money on my monk back then so I decided I needed to box my Druid to carry the money and for the SoW. Well the newb that I was, I didn't know how to box, so I had two computers in the house. One was In the dining room and the other was in the living room (only about 15 feet apart though). Well I proceeded to run them both to The Mountains of Rathe. Oh, did I forget to mention that I was a newb and didn't know about Auto-follow? You see where I'm going here, lol. It was a long run and I would run one toon for a bit and then go to the other computer and run the other toon a little bit. Well, it took about an hour to get there and find him. Then the fun began, lol. I would SoW the monk and run after him and by the time I got him "hailed" so he would stop, I would run over to the other computer and bring the druid over with the money to turn it in. For about the first 3 or 4 tries I was too slow and I would get there with the Druid and he would hall **** so I had to do it again and again and again until I got fast enough to get it finally. I tell You what, I sure felt like I earned it that day, lol :)

I made a Barbarian Warrior back in like 2000. Was my first toon and I will never forget being at the entrance to Blackburrow killing gnolls when this Iksar came flying by me and turned around and came back,Inspected me and the trade window came up and there was 50 plat in it.He told me to get some gear as I was about naked.

It blew my mind at the time.It was like hitting the EQ lottery.He then proceeded to run off about his business and I was just sitting there with my mouth dropped open.Back then ,at least to me, 50 plat was HUGE.I can't remember the guys name but I will NEVER forget that.

I made a Necromancer that is still my main but I still have my warrior who just hit 90 and out off all the good things people have done for me in EQ
that one will be the one I never forget.

LOL, I also remember hanging out in BB and people doing faction for Qeynos racking up thousands of copper and giving it away to all the noobs there (myself included he he). =D

My fav zone was Oasis of Marr. Love to train the specs to the dock and watch the slaughter WAHAHAHA.

Favorite memory: walking out of Crushbone with so much copper, I could barely move. The bad old days!

I remember the first time finally beating the Rathe Council after finding out it was bugged prior to. I remember those long walks in solb and lower guk naked at times just to get my body and loot what was on my body. Life was new life was grand meeting all those fresh faces and getting to know each other was amazing. That's one of the reasons I still play to this day is the people. :)

I started playing in July '06, a latecomer I was. It took me a couple lame attempts at characters before I decided I would be the rarest combination I could find (based on EQPlayers data) My gnome pally was born on Drinal and stubbornly worked through zones that made no sense to solo when guildies were doing things I wasn't high enough level to handle:) I didn't fall off Kelethin as a youngling, having heard many stories about how "everyone does it". I enjoy the questing, the tradeskilling (not as much as I used to) and even the grinding - especially that last bit before you ding. It takes sooo long, but once you hit it - it feels like it was worthwhile. I don't think I'll ever stop playing the game, as long as I've got any choice. It's home.

I got the game by chance when I went to Comp USA to look for a new sound card and the end cap caught my eye MISTAKE! I dint know it would control my life for 16 years lol
I remember making my first toon a DE SK and I couldn't think of a name to use so I did the random name and it came up as Slayan, Little did I know that that name would follow me to all other games that I have played as my main toon. But as other MMo's come out I always find my way back to EQ even after all these years.
Fond memories of newb log in Nek forest, getting owned by the Halflings there, feeling dread when you got to the bridge.
I remember getting in a group that wanted to go to North Ro and feeling lost just trying to get therir and when I did I dies to a spider and the great corpse run after getting a group mate permission to drag my corpse to safety.
Or sitting on the Oasis dock and having a high level stranger come by and giving me a Dark Reaver and a Executioner's Coif . I was the bomb after that
My favorite Expansion was Kunark and to this day still is, When I make a new toon I still find myself making my way their even with Hot Zones I love Kunark.
Breaking into Hate was fun NOT lol the giant port up group hug so a rat didn't wipe the raid.
Raiding SSRA and having to wait for a GM to show up to decide witch Guild would be able to take down the Emp
Being the only guild on the server on Giant faction in Velious so there wouldn't be anyone else taking the mobs in the ToV
So many fond memories, so many friends that I made in game that even though they don't play anymore we still stay in touch
Looking forward to 16 more years to look back on

Remember Sergent Slate in EC roaming. Also remember a uber Troll warrior in north freeport tanking a gaurd while banking back in 2002.

My first character dying over 15 times in a row to Equestrielle the Corrupted in LFay (before they nerfed her)...back when you had to go get your corpse or lose everything. A level 20 (15 after all the deaths) druid was just no match for her. But a nice high level enchanter took pity on me and helped drag all my corpses back to the zone in so I could get my gear and then gave me some older gear that she had in the bank.

No other game has ever brought me the lows and highs that Everquest has over the years.

EQ is like a first love, you can try other games but you keep coming back to the one that set the standard for fun, and epic action with friends and guildies!

I love all the tradeskills and quests.. of course!!

I remember the panic and adrenalin running through Maiden's Eye to Akheva Ruins or Umbral Plains! Just the first couple dozen times, though :)
