Has this been a problem for anyone else? I have managed to log in one time out of 10 but when I am not getting in I have to unplug the computer it freezes so badly.

Well, I have been looking at this since the patch. <siigh> Is anyone been able to run with the GeForce 2 MX. I tried the other drivers on 3Dguru..no luck. This is no fun at all. Open to any sugestions. Thanks.

Got to love the $40ish you pay for a game that you have to UPGRADE DRIVERS UPON DELIVERY.

Got to love a game that makes you upgrade to the newest top of the line Hardware every few years. Yes you can get by with the crap ram/card (soon to be gforce3 cyber jocks)ect... But youll lagg like a pent II in velious on a saturday as you die from the Rygorr bashing you while you try to click zone into Crystal Caverns only to find out you have been PKed twice at your bind point before you got to say 'Hi' to your buddie who has been wondering why you have not returned his past 10 tells.

few years ago I scored the TOP OF THE LINE EQUIPMENT $4000 worth of RAM,Video,Sound ect... Only to find out its all CRAP!

I also have the LAG problem, so bad i can't really play, i can get into the game just fine, but the lag prevents me from being able to move or do much of anything:(

for all the ppl that can get in and have/had the horrible lag right when u get in do you know if this is here to stay? whould it help if i upgraded the computers mem.? i think i have round 512 now what whould help this? it kills me to see i have np probs and can get into the game but to much lag that ya cant play!

Ok, like i don't know if anyone else has this problem: I log onto EQ and get to the Character Select screen, and when I click "enter world (or whatever it says) it loads pretty regularly. But after like 30 seconds, the music stops, my char loads, but where i should see the basic graphics, all i get is a black YOU HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED. It's happened 3 times. Any ideas? If so PLEASE post them...Thanks! =)

Ok, any help that anyone can give would be much apreciated.

Here is my problem, it is similar to one of the ones listed below, i can log on and make it all to the character select screen, when my internet gets disconnected.


One other post had this same problem and how he fixed it, but i cannot find the driver that he downloaded to fix it...also he was on windows nt and i am on windows 98.

Does anyone know how to fix this? It must be my internet connection and something else using the same port or something? Please help, been trying to get on for days now!

First, let me say I honestly feel for all of you who still cannot get on line.

Maybe this will help some people. I hope so. After 3 days messing with my entire system (and upgrading to SB Prodigy, which I can honestly say is totally awesome) I have finally sorted out my own problems. Thanks Verant/Sony (not.)

OK, the fix. I will detail exactly what I did, in the hope others might find a solution of their own. (I know we all have different systems/configs)

My problem was one of disconnection. I could get as far as the character select screen but could not get in the game. My ISP just hung. I went through every check I could think of, and finally traced the source to I/O port #3. The problem was this;

DirectX 8.1 was using the same I/O channel as my Modem in FULL SCREEN MODE. To test it, i did the Directx.diag whilst actually logged on, as some earlier post mentioned. Step 1 and 2 were OK, but as soon as the full screen test came up, my ISP locked and I had to reboot. The same was true in DirectDraw tests.

Thus, it was a compatability/conflict issue with my 3d card (GeForce2 MX/MX400)using the Detonator 23.1.1 driver (as suggested by Verant, and on their matrix table) my Internet Connection and DirectX 8.1

Next, I tried to eliminate one of the 3 ingredients. I decided to start with the driver. I went to *** WWW.GURU3D.COM *** and downloaded the 20.8.1 driver for Win ME, installed it and re-ran the tests.

1st time lucky ! everything was fine, no ISP hanging and all tests were succesful. DirectX 8.1 was not to blame.

So, I launched EQ and there I was, 0% ping 0% connection, zero lag.

Conclusion; DirectX 8.1 + Geforce2 with Detonator (per Verants matrix) = pile of dog ****.

Ok, after the download screen, I hit play and get a log on screen that also ask for a server name.

I contacted support and they suggested that I delete four files, which I did. I still have the same problem and am waiting on a response. Just curiouse if anybody else has had the same problems and has found a solution. Plenty of ram, PIII and Raydion 7200 card.

You guys are buttons to be pressed to turn on and off. The "everyone is losing their items" post was designed to illicit a response as part of my graduate psychology final thesis. My theory/hypothesis went something like this: Most non-sufficient people are like buttons you can press to get a desired response. They are like the buttons in an elevator you would press to get to a desired floor. And like the elevator buttons, they require certain input, or stimulus to accomplish this. The subjects can be turn "ON" and "OFF". My "ON" stimulus was the "everyone is losing all their items" post and you guys responded accordingly. You knew it wasn't true, yet you expended time and effort to defend and/or validate your knowledge. If I saw a post such as that; I would have done a little investigating, of course. Upon learning it was false information, I would, logically, ignore the incident and move on. You didn't. And you responded to all the taunting bantor. You didn't realize that just because someone thinks and/or says something, that it doesn't make it true. So I pushed the ON button and you guys came ON.
My "OFF" stimulus was the "I can't believe you guys" post. I rationalized that it is rediculous to try and validate what you already know to be valid. I rationalized you should ignore the poster and move along. You guys did exactly that. You stopped posting, and probably forgot about it altogether. I pushed the OFF button and you guys turned OFF.
Alot more went into my theory, experiment and written conclution, but i will not bore you with it here. Suffice to say, I'll be getting the highest grade in my Psychology and Contemporary Technology course. Thank You for your participation!

ok, just read this from official sony online entertainment site--they have to do a mega patch that will last a week, and all servers will be down. not only that, but the patch wipes everything clean and everyone is gonna lose all their ******* items. they say they'll give everyone a leg-up kit based on your level. this is ********* man, i am soooo done. cancelling my account today!!!

ok havent seen this one yet.. ive got 4 computers here and it seems like only 1 of them wont run new SoL.. i can log on but instead of text im seeing big blocks of color.. if i were to type

blah blah blah i would see 3 uniform blocks of green.. it makes it tricky cause i cant go to options and change any settings cause i cant read anythin let alone figure out what im clicking on.. graphics are there but everything is white..

anyone have crap like this happenin?
