Just a few short minutes ago, I started the patch up (for the 50th time today) and the files started downloading. 3 bubs of yellow into the "download bar" the patcher froze. This is bad thing, but much better than before. 3 hours ago I couldn't even download a single file without "Internet connection error." Hopefully I'll be able to get them all come 1 or 2 in morning. My best advice, and I'm sure some reasonable people will agree, is to be patient.

guys this is almost funny. i stand here watching million of playing doing all they can think of on their computer to try to fix all those problems. you got to understand that there is no way that you can enter EQ right now. here are the 3 only situation that you can face:

1-you tryed to uninstall and re-install everquest, or you are still at the retail version

> when you try to log you go to the old patcher. it look for new files for a few seconds, then bring you a message that explain that you are not conected to the internet or that you have a I/O problem. Once in a while, it will partially work. It will find a server, and start to download the first patch. But while you are jumping of joy watching the blue bar go up, it will sudently stop at the middle of the arena file. (about 3% of the total patch). It will either stay frozen there, or will give you the usuall "not logged" message. Usually the next thing to do is to tear out your hairs while shouting obsenities and/or to trow your monitor trought the window. But dont worry, its the same for everyone. So no need to call your internet provider to complain like so much players did.

: you can fix this by either waiting untill the server are fixed and that you can download normally the patchs, or you can ask a friend to send you his full EQ instalation. But in the end it wont help. You will still be unable to download the Luclin patch corectly.


2- You are among the rare person that managed to download the full Luclin patch corectely. but when you try to log, you get a "no 3d device found".

>This simply mean that you have directX 8.0 installed. You need 8.1 to run Luclin. So download and install 8.1. But once you are done, you wont be able to download the patch corectly. So its kinda useless. But since you will need 8.1 anyway, go download it right away.

3- You manage to start the Luclin patch, but atthe middle of it, the scren freeze or send you back to window or give you the "not conected" message

note: the new everquest.exe file that verant told you to download is useless and wont fix any of those problems. The only thing that it could fix is if you were ALDREDY having problems with the patcher. if everything was working perfectly fine untill today, thisfile wont help you much. But it cant hurt, so take it anyway.

Im Running Windows98,Athlon 1600+ with 512DDR and a Geforce2 Mx400.

When I first Tried to log on I got "No 3d Device Found" So I check my DirectX and Found out I had 8.0a so I Downloaded 8.1 and that fixed the Problem.

Next Problem

The Damn Patcher Won't Connect!!!

I downloaded The new Eq.exe From Everquestlive.com
and that got me past the patcher connecting problem. Then when the new...slow...nice looking patcher came up it downloaded 1 file and looked like it croaked. So I pressed Cancel and download over and over and over...10 min later it started downloading again....Finally got in Game but the damn login Server was busy....God Why....While waiting for god to let me login I started up my 2nd Computer which is an old Amdk6 450 with 256ram and a crappy 64meg SIS card......On the 2nd computer the patcher kept freezing for some reason so I downloaded the Eq.exe again and it brought me to the new.....slow....nice looking patcher which just stopped at "Connecting to Patch Server"....In boredom I copyed the eq.exe from 1st computer two the 2nd one and it worked perfect downloading everything without a problem.
So my best guess is to keep trying Eq.exe over and over till it starts downloading.

I had all these problems and I havent even got Luclin yet....Hope this Helps ya!

First of all is anybody else having problems with installing the new expansion??? I got mine alright and guess what it dont work worth a damn even with Installshield program they put with it...it also has the new DirectX8 that everybody is screaming to have for this new F%$k up that verant did.
Secondly...4 hrs now of trying to download these frigging patches and I keep getting disconnected. I tried to get on to Everquest.com and guess what? They are also down as well...servers are up though since I have an RL friend who has been able to download all the patches and get on the game.
Is there a connection in being able to download the new expansion and the current patches going on??? Its a conspiracy damn it...give me my evercrack VERANT!!!
