well i'm in the main patcher it says that i have exactly 29 hours 56 minutes and some seconds till patch finished i think this means that my 80gig hardrive=full as hell so i think i'll sue verant now

they take months to prepare testing testing testing but at no point do they look to the past and learn from there past misstakes. they release a game that they know KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT everyone is going to go out and buy and install and try to get on before everyone else does so why WHY do they not prepare for this. it has happin every time they have done something major like this then WHY DO THEY NOT pRePARE for this so it does not happin. i mean come on they say and hour an hour leads to will be up shortly, being up shortly leads to the next day and a half then goes to two days now. i mean they created some mad graphics no doubt about that but how can you not know something like this is going to happin when it happins every single time you do something major like this. HELLO LEARN from your past will ya. i mean why would ya do a major patch day before the new release and then you can not even get the patch up and running in time.

solution if you have 300,000 people buying your product and you KNOW it is going to cuase problems with everyone trying to get on then you release not the full 300,000 but a small portion of it lets say 1/4 of it, the first week or two then another 1/4 next week or two and so on but what do i know i am but a gamer not a programer but then again that is what your sales people are for figureing out how to get the game out with out the hassle. one more thing you guys suck for telling us certain requirements then turn around and tell us hay you need to get a new computer all together or go out and pay extra for mem chips cuase hay we do not care about your money what so ever as long as we get ours

i have a 350 AMD
64 meg video card
128 mem i have to pay compaq 70$ for another 128 chip cuase for somereason my computer will not ecept any other mem chips beleive me when i say i tryed but compaq tech says i have to order theres for it to work. grrrrr

i already order the damm game have not opened it yet wandering if i will be able to play the beastlord or what

Just to let you know, Compaq is feeding you a line of sh*&.... I just updated mine with additional RAM and I sure as hell didn't buy it from them.... Make sure you have the correct type... your local Staples or OfficeMax should be able to tell you whick type.... Hope that helped....)

well you know i think the real reason this is happening is something called impotent monkeys programming patch code. i'd say whoever got in deserves a cookie but i think i'd rather take the box and shove it up their bum.

Well, today has been the single longest unsuccessful camp in my EQ history..time and time again I thought I may have my spawn but no, /sigh, twas only the place holder..."the patch" has failed to spawn yet again.

To make matters worse I purchased SoL from Amazon and they totally screwed my order...So my trip to the moon is delayed until they can get it together too (apparently Amazon is as competent as VI)...but maybe I'll have the patch before then with any luck. I'm not getting my hopes up though, seeing as how I've been clicking the EQ logo on my desktop for hours now. What's really frustrating is not that they had a problem, problems happen...But that it was an unforeseen problem. I know I ordered SoL as long ago as August, and I'm sure there were thousands more that ordered and reserved copies both before and after I did. Not to mention the subscribers not buying SoL and the new EQ subscribers SoL might attract. I'm sure they had some kind of idea of the magnitude of people that would be trying to patch today. And yet it was nearing the days end before they thought to bring on more servers to handle the load... Pretty poor planning and customer service in my opinion. I wasn't around for the first release of EQ but posted on the top of this forum it says that an almost identical problem happened then. Sadly, SOE and VI dont learn from past mistakes it seems. Well, I feel better knowing that I've ******* and moaned some, so I guess since my day is over I'll try again tomorrow, hopefully with better luck.

Totally unacceptable.

Verant was AWARE of the needs of their network and bandwith well before release. This is not their first release of a expansion, and they are still treating the customers like crap. They have us do mad upgrades to systems we have been using comfortable for the past 2 years of Live EQ, and now they can not even upgrade their bandwith for the first 24 hours of patches to the game on release day.

Very poor. Any other company would have been ripped a new one by now. Sony, this is even worse, you expect more from something that carries their name...

I just diligently stuck with it. I would hang on a file and I would cancel reboot and rerun the patcher. Each time I would get an extra file or two, some times it took up to 6 reboots to get one file, but I got it! So finally after about an hour of trying I got all the files. Now if you are like me and have a home LAN with other players, you can just copy the needed files from the computer that was able to download to the others that couldn't. That's what my roomies and I did. It worked great we all got on in the end. Good luck.

heh, you're right. I've been doing the patch thing over and over agin (while checking this out since im bored) i can get 3 or 4 files everytime i run it. Sometimes its good to be stubborn :)

Isnt the idea of Pre-order, is to get before those who didnt?
Why is it I pre-order SoL, and get a message this morning saying they shipped it, when i could have just gone to store and bought it and gotten it the day they opened it?
Any reasoning behind this? You would think if you pre-ordered you would get the jump on those who didn't.
Oh-well will be intresting....what happens first....SoL getting here or finish patching.

I have successfully patched and logged on... took some major doing, but the patcher seems to be letting me by w/out any other issues now. The files that need to be patched, however, are numerous. I have zipped all the timestamped files (which I am assuming are the ones which were updated) and they come out to about 30meg. If anyone has a better idea how to double check what the patcher has changed on the harddrive (maybe even writing the files down as they go... i dunno), and has a place for me to put them, I'd be more than happy to get this rolling.

Hum well lets see.... Guess that is ok all I get to see is _verquest.exe only half way beforee it just drops me and hangs... lets see some bmp file and then hangs then poof reset by peer oh hell I am going to bed - feelin like I wasted a perfectly good day!

I'm having the same damned problem. I've been at it fer about 3 hours now. I'm assuming it's not a hardware problem as I don't have Luclin (and am currently thinking of boycotting it), but just Verant being morons. Why did they have to mess with a perfectly good thing? BTW I tried the fix they posted on their main site and guess what, it got me absolutely nowhere. Man, the withdrawal from this game is gonna hurt if I can't play it.

are we REALLY supposed to believe that NO ONE at verant knew this was going to happen?here you have a brand new expansion pack going on sale,with tens of thousands of people going out and buying it on the same day.They were well aware that their patch server(s) would not be able to come even close to handling the load.So,if we assume that they knew well in advance,we can only come to the conclusion that it's something that they either a)could live with or b)they planned.
personally,i'm going with b.my guess is that they felt that if only a limited number of people could actually get their game patched,that they could control the flow of people into the game and the various zones.because,if you think about it,200,000 people all in luclin at the same time spread across like 10 zones would have been a disaster in itself.pretty smart thinking by verant.
