Let me express what many of you are feeling right now: Arrrrrrrrrgh! Let me in! Let me in! I want my Kitty! *breathe* OK. According to Sony, they are aware of the problems and are working on them, including bringing on more patching servers. Why they didn't think of this before, since this is almost identical to what happened at the original release is beyond me, but I'm sure they want you to play their game as much as you want to play it. Feel free to use this forum to try to help each other get into the game or to just console each other while you wait.

Think about it all you want, it will not do any good. I e-mailed them 3 hours before they decided to bring more patch servers up, telling them they should of already done exactly that. These guys are supposed to have some "knowledge" about computers? then they ought to know erm duhhh if we have 40K customers that generally log in during "prime time" @ X MB/full SoL patch and their server can only handle?????? one thing (as i explained to the nimrods) DO THE MATH VERANT/SONY!!!!!!!! how can you not do the math????

well i been at it as long as anyone today and gets me no were.i still havnt got to start the first file,wish i knew why everyone els at least gets half file downloads.

i knew i should have checked this site out much earlier today...

ok to save me from reading through all 10 million of these posts, can anyone tell me if they're having this problem...(btw i know the problem is with the patch program, but i havent seen my particular problem on here yet)

i run the patch program and get that little tiny box that says patching...everquest.exe. the progress bar gets most of the way across and i get an error message saying that it cant run the patch because the files are "either in use or the user does not have permission to run patch". something like that.

the ONE time that i DID get to the actual patch screen, i got a message that said "cannot parse xml file". what in god's name is that all about?

i'm not looking for an explanation, just want to know if anyone else has had these same messages pop up. thanks )

Ok first problem, your everquest.exe needs updated (which ya can download at sony's EQ page (just make sure ya find the one for 12/4 not the 12/3) secondly your "cannot parse xml file" is easy, you changed yer download options turning the downloads you needed off and the ones you dont need on, find the file in your EQ directory (only one thats xml), it opens in IE, your going to want to hit "view" then select "sourse" and make sure that the original EQ client is set to true, and set SoL to false if you are not going to be running SoL, Kunark/Veliouse/Optional are your call if your character is in one of them places then yeah your going to want them to say true (just in case there is a patch out there for them), close the file and save, then close the IE page it poped up in, but thats not going to help you until they actually get the additional patch servers up, and there is the chance (i certainly would hope) that they will overide your selected options, seeing as how if they dont overide them, then alot of people who changed their settings will still be unable to log on.

Yes, I was getting this message. Then i went into the everquest folder.. sorted the files by date from the most recent to the least. I then deleted the eqnews.txt and the eq_missing_files.log file. Then I re-ran the patcher, and it successfully downloaded the new files. Then I was able to log in. I am not going to recommend deleting any other files than these.. but if it hangs on a particular file before giving that message.. well. Also, if you are running under 2k or XP, make sure you don't have another EQ process running.

Do you honestly think that Verant gives 2 ***** if you can play or not right now? They don't. Do you really think this came as a big surprise to them and they have people running around trying to come up with a "fix"? LOL, please. This situation is a bandwidth/hardware anomaly for them and they're riding it out.

The kind of equipment we're talking about that's required to support this massive and sudden load of players trying to log in is *VERY* expensive. You're kidding yourselves if you think Sony is going to shell out that kind of cash for one day's worth of load. It's unprecendented how hammered their gear is right now. Yeah lets buy a half million dollars worth of equipment so we can make sure everyone gets in on the first day. Until the next expansion on the day it's released, the servers and network won't even see a fraction of the load they're seeing right now. Once people say **** it and stop trying to play, resources will free and eventually we'll all be able to patch.

So, until that time comes, roll a j, watch some sportscenter, do whatever it is you do, and quit acting like children who just got their toy taken away. We're all in the same boat. Don't **** in it.

I got the "everquest.exe_delta" too. I just left the computer alone. It looked like it locked up (even said "not responding" in the task manager), but after a minute or so it started up again. Overall, it took about 3-5 minutes to get to the patch screen and about 25-30 minutes for the patch. Just be patient.

Also, I did notice a big jump in zoning time, almost to the point where I thought I went LD.

Alright... I'm now at the point where I'm looking at my cat, visioning her in Vah Shir clothing... Auto-Attacking my parents... Thinking my Math book is a spell book... Thinking that the GOT MILK sticker on my notbook is saying got SOW... Counting the stripes on the Tiger Vah Shir on the cover of the box... Wondering just who the hell that chick who appears on every cover is... looking at the map over and over... and of course looking outside and thinking I see a little Gnoll which is really my dog... in other words "FOR GOD'S GOOD NAME VERANT! *sigh* 13 hours after the patch was supposed to be finished and NO EQ!! Tried the patch program from sony, fat lotta good that did. I love sitting at my comp staring at the patcher doing nothing. Verant needs to pull their heads outta their ***** and get their crap in a row.

there where three entities: Veriant, sony and the customers
they found a bottle one day and rubbed it
"poof" a genie appears and says I can give only three wishes
so veriant goes first and wishes for lots of money
poof the genie plants the idea of eq in all their tiny brains
sony saw this brillant strategy and decided their wish was to take as much as veriant had
poof they got the company and their employees at verient and 3/4 the revenue
the customer was about to make his wish when sony and variant chimned in together saying we wish ....
sorry you'll have to upgrade and download the patch for the rest of this joke.

There is a message about this at the everquest site. Something about using the wrong version of directX. It is on the main page at the eqlive site.

Ok i cant even get past the checkin for new files.... crap ive downloaded the alternate EQ.exe and the directx 8.1. So what should i try now? Just wait?

Well, i waited till 4pm to try and DL the Patch, first 3 attempts frizzled, need to work in my DL skill i guess *sigh* ..... then on the 4th attempt, i see im conntected and DL'n *Yeah*

Starting to see files DL'n.... more *yeah*, then i get a msg at the bottom about time remaining on DL, hmmmm... 8mins and some change aint so bad, ill eat and come back, *munch* *munch*

/em come back to his puter to see that the ET of DL is now 8hrs and 34mins, hmmmmmmm

o well, like the rest of us Evercrack addicts, ill sit by my " pipe * and patiently awaiting my next hit of the Evercack Pipe, with Dreams of my new graphics which i cant enjoy, cause my puter can handle them and its X~Mas time of year and i lack the finacial means to upgrade *sigh*

It takes forever for the patch box to leave then the SoL screen comes up then..then..then...........Nothing? It's like getting ready for a big event that never happens...sigh. Wake me when it's done?
