I am aware of the notice of the 3 day maintance on the "Join Playonline" screen, but if i assume that they were talking about the "Joining" part of there operation being down til monday. Then we still should be able to get on soon. But if there is some where else that says the game is down til monday, plZ tell me where it says it.

From what I have heard, the registration/payment server will be down until monday. Whether they are doing this to give them time to fix the main server too I don't know.

SE NEEDS to pro rate this or give us something. I'm glad I didn't make my plant... ><

ATM that is all we have to go by. The facts are the update and the emergency update should be over and done, but POL is still down AND the official website is also now down. The "Join PlayOnline" button says the servers are down until Monday, so I assumed that meant everything. I could be wrong...I'd liketo be wrong! lol

I think there is a bigger issue. Their offical website is down too. What the hell is going on? I managed to get in after their 8hr update about 1hr of gaming yesterday before they shut down the servers again... at that point i was the only one on the Selbina - Mahura boat with about 15 pirates...

Well, i did get on last night but signed off cause they put that "BLUE" warning systems message into the game... WE are shutting down please log out safely blah blah blah. i do agree that SE should do prorating for the days lost or better yet... compensate us with GIL. i could use a few hundred thousand to help with the outragous prices >.< Sigh i guess i will go read.

SE is gonna need to start Pro-Rating the Money we are spending versus all this maintenance, (down one min.. up the next) and start refunding us players. WE DO PAY to play this game and getting smacked around by all this server issue stuff is annoying. I understand that SE needs to do Maintenance and such to keep the game running smooth.. and i am glad they do that so we all can have a "better game experience" <.< (hehe)
However... just like my Phone company, or Cable company experiences problems and i can't use my phone.. or watch cable for so many Hours/Days i Expect to be refunded a portion of my money. GRANTED it might not be much money.. but BLASTED i want every penny that belongs to me! It's only fair... the moment a player stops paying to play... that player would be "Kicked" so fast.. it'll make your head spin.

Well if the new notice on POL is correct this is going to turn into a 5 day update (now scheduled to end on freaking MONDAY) I think that pretty much covers EVERYONES play time! So we can all drop the US/EU/JP "stop updating during my playing time!" argument. :D

Edit: Oh and we can all kiss our harvests goodbye. Think of the poor PLANTS! Dying as we speak. /cry

while sueing isnt the answer, this down time is completely unnecesary and shows SE's lack of their ability to hold down their servers. we are currently in a 5 day maintenance, yes i said day. that is a lot of downtime, esp for those including me, who get most of their game time in the weekend because they have a life. so even if people want to sue they arent going to pursue it. although americans are known for stupid things for going to court for. even myself is rather pissed about the whole ordeal, after 3+ years of experience in handling their servers, all of a sudden, they have to take almost a week to gather together just the pol. rather sad if you ask me.

real intelligent, your going to sue, a multinational company over a lost day of play time that cost you $0.42..
please tell me that there are some mature people who play FFXI and can stand a little down time when actual maintinence is required.. would you rather them allow you to play on unstable servers and risk loosing your character which you put 100+ days into cultivating? i think you'd be a little bit upset if that were the case.. some people do nothing but complain no matter what is done to apease them..

While suing is probably not likely, I think we're missing the point. I am a software developer and I work with many, many servers across the country...somehow we're able to keep ours up 365 days a year. If our clients weren't provided 365 day access, they'd probably go elsewhere..unfortunately, we don't have that option as players.. to play this game, we have only 1 way to get in. I think SE might want to look into whats call a "project plan", and maybe a test environment to thouroughly test their changes before they move them to production? Yea, that may help.. just my 2 cents. Then again me posting here does actually no good..so, "we suck again!"

Yeah, we are now looking at a possible FIVE DAY period of downtime. Over a WEEKEND no less. If they refunded my money for these 5 days, (assuming it actually lasts that long,) it would actually pay for all of my mules for a whole month! We are now leaving the "It's only 20 cents stfu n00b!" area and moving into a $dollar$ figure that actually matters to some people like me. lol /em sighs dejectedly.

My post got too long and involved and, honestly, I don't think many people would even acknowledge the logic of it, so I'm going to just sum up my point:

We, as players, pay for a service (being able to play). If you don't like the service, why are you paying for it? No one is forcing you to do so.

Let me put it this way; I keep to my end of the agreement by paying my fee every month, why can't SE keep to their end of the agreement by providing a game I can actually play when I am at home?

I have to say, nearly all of the maintenence is performed during peak UK time (and peak times for other countries, I am aware, its just that I am from the UK) and it is starting to tick me off.... just slightly ^^

Where is this agreement you speak of? I don't recall seeing anything that said SE had to have the servers up during certain times or for specific amounts of time.

A few posts above mine, another player posted an excellent point. Would you prefer to play on an unstable server, or one one that has been properly maintainenced? Those are our choices. I prefer the stable server.

Ok... this totally !@#$ed up... I can tolerate 14 hour maintainences... but this is just WAY TOO MUCH!!! Yesterday couldnt get, so im like thats cool. I try to log in today again and cant thats cool... then i check the Server Maintainence Notice... oh boy... not gonna be finish until Oct. 24 Monday 0:00 PDT... Ok that's just way toooo much I didn't pay for having a 5-day maintainence!!!! The basic problem is that Square Enix is a bunch of hacks that have programed themselves into a corner time after time. Now i'm suprised if the game can run for more than 24 hours without catostrophic problems. They never take blame, but everyone knows where the blame should go. Certainly they can blame hackers or boogiemen, but when it comes down to it they are not even secondrate. They are working their way towards the basement when it comes to inconsistancy and costumer satisfaction. Goood luck getting ahold of them cuz they could careless to reply to emails. And at 5:50 est i've not been able to log on for a hour now. So i've played a total of 2 hours in the last 2 days. But of course they send some wicked gay SORRY FOR THE INCONVIENCE. Well Square Enix YOUR NOT WELCOME FOR THE INCONVIENCE!

Is this for real? When I click on the "Join Play online" button on POL to check on the update status it says, and I quote:
"Servers are currently down for maintenance. Please try again later. Estimated time of completion: Oct. 24, 2005, (MONDAY) 00:00 (PDT)

This is as of Friday at 4:34 pm, (Central US timezone)

Is that freakin CORRECT? It's gonna be down til midnight, Pacific daylight Time, on MONDAY? I know I can't log in now, and POL's website is even down atm, but please someone tell me i'm wrong about this! Did their servers explode or something? lol

Alright, so I can't help but notice all the flaming going on. And of course, in America, if a white guys hits a black guy it's automatically a race issue and a hate crime. So, in retrospect, people are complaining about server maintenance and it gets turned into a country issue. And I love seeing people claim they "know" everything. During NA prime time do you have your huge maitances
anyone else noticed that only time its during jp time is when its a serious server issue or something that needs immeadate attention then its only maybe 2 hours (only seen it once is the year ive been playing) and OMFG now im angry 10 hours to fix 3 little issues ...omg... i know tolerating this is part of the TOS but its getting to the point where the abuseing that as of this matiance im gunna track hours during NA prime time when i reach a month in total hours im gunna raise heck for a month credit on my account...VIVA LA RESITANCE
