Posted on the EQ Live Site: All servers will be down at 3am on Tuesday, Feb. 10th 2004 All servers will be coming down at 3am pst (-8 UTC) on Tuesday, February 10th, 2004 in preparation for the release of the Gates of Discord Expansion. Estimated Downtime is 9 hours. - The SOE Operations Team

Yea! Sony is a bunch of idiots, buying out one of the most addictive online products. Offering a service, nearly 24-7... Shesh, what idiots they are for making several Million Dollars a month off of people. Really should not be knocking the product you support. If it's such a hassle for you... THEN DONT PLAY OR PAY

Formula for downtime

Here is the formula SOE uses to figure out downtime:

Date of the update * number of coffee breaks wanted / number of techs working on the update + the last digit of the phone number to tech support - number of "patch fixes" needed in the following 24 hours / number of times they need to put the hampster back on the wheel during the update = estimated time.

In this example, it would work out this way: 10 * 6 / 2 + 8 - 2 / 4 = 9
