Let me express what many of you are feeling right now: Arrrrrrrrrgh! Let me in! Let me in! I want my Kitty! *breathe* OK. According to Sony, they are aware of the problems and are working on them, including bringing on more patching servers. Why they didn't think of this before, since this is almost identical to what happened at the original release is beyond me, but I'm sure they want you to play their game as much as you want to play it. Feel free to use this forum to try to help each other get into the game or to just console each other while you wait.

I installed SoL, then when I ran the normal EQ icon I can only seem to get into the test server, which is locked.

That was as of 12/4/01 at 9:00 PM. God I hope it works tommorow

i try running the patch like normal,it comes up with everything ready to go,then when i click on play it tells me i hav an error"you have not downloaded file,EQGfx_Dx8.DLL"been tryin'
to fix the problem for 4 hours,any help out there PLZ

Well, I can get into the game just fine, but when I try to zone into the Nexus I get booted back to desktop.

Also, I can't seem to get the new models to turn on, I checked my ini file and they're all listed as TRUE, but none of them are showing up.

I gave up last night at went to bed because I got sick of waiting but decided to get up at 4am to patch and play, HA! Once I got the patcher to work, and it finished, it started up. But once I selected my character, it took about 5 minutes for my to get in to the game. I ran around OT for a few seconds, realized I had to leave for work and then camped. When it backed out to the character selection screen, I hit enter instead of escape and I waited for over 5 minutes for my character to get in to the game. I gave up, and hit the reset button on my PC. I hope they fix this crap, I don't want to wait 15 minutes to get in to the game.

I had the same problem. I went to the drivers download page on www.everquest.com and used thier version of the Geforce drivers even tho they were older drivers than mine. It worked . The graphics for the druids wolf form and the shamman pet is alot better now, and there are differnt colors to the different wolf forms. Regular wolf form is blackish grey form of the great wolf is whiteish grey and actually look cool now. The skeletons also look weird, but cool. more deatail was put into them. 1 other thing i did was download the prior patcher exe and started from there. After all that it went smooth.

I just posted a link to a page that would have helped you all taking a long time downloading-it downloads a program that alows ONLY the patches you dont already have so that you dont have to restart everytime you reboot!!!

how can u tell if pepper's patches are done ? how can u even tell if they are workin ? i tired all 3 at 1 time and it is just a blank screen that never gets done loading...someone PLEASE tell me whats up...plz

Well, after a hard day at work comming home thinking that now i can fiunally play eq guess if i was wrong... =P

I started out at 2 am trying to download... first things that happens... Whole comp refuses to play with me anylonger... says i dont have an internet connection on Update program to SoL at the same time as im surfing in the background...

Anyway.. i did it the hard way.. i refused to give up. I installed DirectX 8.1 swedish version but it didnt work. tried to owervrite it with english version and suddenly i get past the patching signature to "download" screen.. finally i thought at about 3 am... boy was i wrong...


Beginning download sky.s3d ..
And internatl IO errorr has caused... jada jada jada...

So i reboot and start it all upp again.. and i managed to get 1 file down.. just by restarting my comp and the eq program ... well.. about 60 restarts later i managed to log in to my char.. finally...

The download server was very crowded and i think this might have been the fault that many ppl ( including myself) tried to find what was wrong with the local comp.

Oh well.. if anyone feels like giving up, throwing your comp to "!#!#!¤ and then jump on it in berserker madness... dont.. you just have to restart the program and hope for best luck that you manage to get the file down...

And for you who dosnt think that there is a difference between direct x 8.0 and 8.1

listen to what they say.. i couldnt do "!#!¤ before i managed to get right directX on my comp..

Well, Thats all for me... if anyone has read this far i hope you thought you got something out of it...

Any truth about a GM in a guild giving out freebies (but only to his guild memebers) or what about the rumor about someone seeing a admin go from lvl 20 to 50 in one day? WHERES MY FRREBIES???

oh and you NEED dx 8.1 to run eq. Friend has windows 95 and well you can't use 8.1 with 95. WTF is up with that. Now she can't play!!!!!!!

Yo dude, they have said they are dropping support for 95 all along because mickeysoft... the operating system people were dropping it from DirectX

She can probably back the installation out and run anyways without the new models by setting the DirectX back to 7.0 in her box.

Check with the verant Techie's though

I haven't gotten SOL yet, but had to sit through the massive patch anyway, and now I can't get onto the regular non-SOL EQ. When I click my EQ icon it dumps me onto the new SOL screen and leaves me there. How do I get back to Norrath?! What's happened?

You can get the DX at Microsoft.com, or type in DirectX as a search word which will lead you to Microsoft/MSN .com...I just spent $50 at walmart to get a new graph card, al;though nada is wrong w/ the old-go to www.everquest.com and check out thier patches B 4 you become a dummy like me!

Don't feel like logging in, but here's an update: Just logged on to EQ, ALL servers are online at this time. Even the PVP and Firiona Vie (They were down earlier for a good while). A GM just came on and said that all servers are up and operational. As for the "3D Card not found" thing, this exact problem happened to my friend. He downloaded DirectX 8.1 and it fixed the problem after he installed it. Not DirectX 8, but 8.1. Well...besides the fact that my banded shoes are colored black now on two of my characters, everything seems cool.
