Concerning the Connectivity Issue

We understand some players are still experiencing connectivity issues when they are trying to log into FINAL FANTASY XI or while traveling through various areas in FINAL FANTASY XI.

Again, our team of technicians investigated and confirmed that our FINAL FANTASY XI servers are working properly, and our service is not experiencing any technical difficulties at this time. However we are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the issue and will make every effort to assist in remedying it.

If you are having connectivity issues, try connecting to FINAL FANTASY XI again at another time. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience you may be experiencing.

It happened to me to begin with (acquisition then d/c problems) on my main character. I then switched across my various mules (4) and none of them had any problems. Back to my main and d/c over and over (this was in Burburima Peninsula at OP..fortunately before the meter ran out on my last attempt I ran to the zone point and it transitioned me to Tahrongi..everything was fine after that). So if SE wants some information, try tracking the problem back to however your server accesses the database for character information. It is not an ISP problem if only one character was stuck while the rest work.

I was also in Whitegate when over half the town suddenly went d/c red soon after - fortunately I was one of the lucky ones that did not bite it in that run. I did find it amusing that when I petitioned a GM during my orginal problem with my main that they just sent me a message saying "its you, not us". Way to be customer friendly.

Overall I do feel that SE tries to help us while keeping the game in balance. Problem is that it is just not good business to tell your customers that they are the problem... especially right after you do a huge update and suddenly everyone across all servers and different ISP are having the same issue. Just because you have not found a problem does not mean it is not there. Cha-ching..my two cents just ran out.
fixed mine

well i'm pretty sure i've found a solution for myself. i'd been having the same problem that everyone has been having with the R0 in certain zones.what you need to do is put in a new MAC address onto your router. this is basically how you do it on windows XP. go to Start > Run and type in cmd then in the black window type ipconfig /all. now the MAC address will be the "Physical address". then what you need is your router's configuration tool. i have a linksys so it's found by typing the address to it in my browser. then you need to find where you can manually type the new MAC address you got from ipconfig. once you do that, reset your router, and hope for the best. i was having problems zoning into valkurm dunes, and i can play there now finally!
I haven't tried any other areas as of yet but the problem place that i was close to (valkurm) is fixed. good luck all :)
try this

Just so everyone knows, if you are experiencing this problem but u are able to get to your character you can still play. Everyone seems to have problems in different zones but what u need to do, if u are able to, get to your character to the nearest zone. I know as soon as u log on you start to disconnect, but most people can still walk around. Its very strange actually. You are sending your position to SE still so when u walk around, u are actually walking around on the game, and when you disconnect, when u log back on, u will be in the position u left off. Once u get to a zone, u need to disconnect again, then when u relog on, u will be in the other zone. And just hopefully this zone does work for you.

Its not the ideal situation, but i am having this problem so far in Port Jeuno and Tahrongi Canyon, thankfully places i very rarely go. So although its an annoyance, at least i can still play.
Got Stuck

Well everything was working fine for me, until a took the airship too bastok, appearently port bastok is one of the dead zones and now my character is trapped there until the issue is resolved. I can log on too my other mules without a problem however my main character is in the dead zone (Port Bastok) and cannot be brought out of it until SE get their sh*t right.
concerning connectivity problems

I have 10 characters in which 5 are doing the R0 thing. If there was a problem with my ISP or my router then would all 10 be doing the R0 thing? I logged into one who could stay in and got on my friend list and asked him if he would see where it says where one of the ones that can't stay in is at on his friend list. I logged in one that couldn't and sent him a tell twice. He received the two tells but when he answered them it came up with the little message about me not being in game or was changing areas. He said it said my account was logged in and all it said was Kerebrus Garuda. So if this is doing this then maybe SE does think we are logged into game and just not listening to what we are saying and I know they can see if we are in a game because my BF and I have ran a server before and we could go in as a GM and actually go to the spot where the player was at. If SE says there is no problem then SE is not gonna look for an solution to it. So i guess my 4 years of working on them is for nothing and it seems to me like SE cares no more. If not fixed soon I will be dropping my account and will find another game to play. So good luck to all.

I suppose its hard to say who to truly point the finger of blame at.

SE says their servers are properly functioning. ISP's say the same thing.
The problem is sporadic. That's all anyone knows. There is no single ISP, Network equipment, hardware setup that is singled out. Some xbox work, some do not; some ps2 work, some do not, some pc work, some do not.

I haven't had a problem yet (PC version, Comcast ISP, Michigan, Linksys WRT54G wireless router hardwire), but then again I've only been to Whitegate, Al Zahbi, Bhaflau Thickets, Al Zahdaal Undersea Ruins and Caedarva Mire since update.

Whomever the problem lies with, I hope it gets fixed for the sake of the thousands of players who are irritated to the point of possibly canceling.

Whether or not SE is the culprit of this, they should put forth a huge effort in determining the cause, as many of their subscribers are losing faith and will simply move to another game.

Hope you all are able to connect soon. Good luck

While I haven't personally had any problems, it does seem that many people are.

Is this a problem concerning just the PC version? I am playing on xbox360, and my friends who also play on 360 seems to have no problems as well.

Are there any PS2 users experiencing the same thing? Maybe we can at least narrow the conditions of the problem a little bit.

I totally understand how you guys feel though. Not having changed a single thing on the client side then a sudden arise of problems after a software update - anyone could see where the potential problem would probably be.

SE also said above they checked their servers and services and found no problems...are they ruling out the fact that it might be a bug in the actual update itself?

At least SE has been quick to address various problems lately, I wish everyone the best of luck.

Dear Guys and Gals at SE:

THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM ON OUR END!!!!!!! IT'S A PROBLEM ON YOURS!!!!! ACCEPT IT!!!!!! seriously, we have checked, re- checked, and re re checked all of our Internet connection, cable box, PC's, EVERYTHING and we are still having issues... I even called and harrased the ISP company we have and they say the same thing.... everything is working fine. Thousands of people( all over the world I might add) that are having these same problems didn't all come down with a case of bad ISP service(not possible since we ALL USE DIFFERENT CARRIERS!!).. it just isn't possible. On top of that, funny how all these problems started AFTER your wonderful update. If memory serves me correctly, there IS ALWAYS a problem after your lovely updates. Maybe its a problem with your network and ISP provider. Stop trying to blame us and fix whatever it is that YOU have broken. I don't pay for this game so that I can't play it.

router?
# Mar 12 2007 at 3:13 PM Rating: Default
so I'm getting these connectivity problems too ever since the update, but it's odd. I use a D-Link wireless router (wired for FF, wireless for laptop) and it has never, ever been a problem before. Now since the update, I stop communicating just before the character selection screen loads. Happens the same with both of my accounts, and on GF's account as well on her PC. If I bypass the router altogether, works fine. Is everyone out there having this problem using a router? or specifically a d-link router?

I even called FF to ask for help checking the settings for my router, and they esentially told me to talk to d-link, not them. Last thing they told me was to shut off the PC, leave it for ten minutes, try again and if it still doesn't work, call back. Yea, maybe if this was a 1-800 number, but I don't live in CA so.....no.
This version update is messed up.

Try again later lol. I've been trying for the past three days with no luck. It must be their servers because the problem is that I can't acquire server data. It worked perfectly fine before the update. At least they acknowledged the problem, that's worth something.
