Expansion Announcement: Prophecy of Ro

The following is a press release from Sony Online Entertainment regarding the upcoming release of the newest EverQuest expansion, Prophecy of Ro: ======================================================== SONY ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES EVERQUEST® PROPHECY OF RO™ EXPANSION FOR EVERQUEST® Transform the Online World of Norrath Like Never Before SAN DIEGO, CA – January 3, 2006 – Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE), a worldwide leader in massively multiplayer online gaming, today announced EverQuest® Prophecy of Ro™, a new expansion for the incredibly popular PC Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG), EverQuest®. EverQuest Prophecy of Ro is scheduled to be available at retail and for digital download from Sony Online Entertainment in February for the suggested price of U.S. $29.99. “EverQuest Prophecy of Ro will give players the opportunity to interact with and transform the online world of Norrath like never before,” said Chris Sturr, Sr. Brand Manager, Sony Online Entertainment. “In addition to a variety of new features, EverQuest Prophecy of Ro continues the fascinating storyline as new and old players alike explore, battle and adventure through EverQuest on more than 30 new missions encountering new creatures and environments throughout the journey.” Players will be able to interact with the world thanks to three new features. The first, spheres of influence, can be used to thwart your enemies or aid allies. The second feature is a trap system that will let players deceive opponents with player-set traps. And for the first time in EverQuest, players will be able to destroy objects in the world; doors can be bashed in, walls can be toppled and towers can be destroyed, leading to a new level of interactivity within the game and opening up a new realm of design. About EverQuest Prophecy of Ro The gods have returned and the mortal realm shifts with their influence. But a new presence walks among the gods, a malevolent force released into godhood by the follies of mortals. Unbound by the laws of the pantheon, it leaves corruption in its wake and threatens to bring the entire pantheon crumbling down. The only hope for Norrath hangs on the very mortals who have unleashed this upheaval. EverQuest Prophecy of Ro includes the following features: -Player-set Traps: Control your battles before they even begin by deceiving your opponents with a new arsenal of player-set traps! -Spheres of Influence: Transform the world of Norrath by creating magical spheres of influence to thwart your enemies or aid your allies. These artifacts will create a localized area where the rules of the game can change. -Destructible Objects: Interact with and destroy pieces of the game world leading to a new level of interactivity within the game. Chop down doors, tumble walls, and destroy encampments! -Buff Filters: Decide which buffs you would rather auto-decline with the new buff filtering system! -8 New Bank Spaces -New Missions: Battle your way through over 30 new missions. -New Creatures, New Environments and New Encounters: More than 25 unique creatures, 7 Zones, and 6 Small Instances. -New Spells, Tasks, Disciplines and Trade skills The new expansion will be downloadable via the EverQuest Station Store for U.S. $29.99 (plus tax where applicable). Retailers will be offering a boxed version that will carry a suggested retail price of $29.99, as well as a special in-game item, a Warhorse mount, for players to enjoy. Additionally, a reduced price of $26.99 will be available to consumers who pre-order and purchase the digital download version direct from Sony Online Entertainment. I am going to wait 4 months and get this expansion when I buy the Super Golden Platinum Quartz edition of EQ that will include all the previous expansions and this one for only $18.95 US. :)
It's All Good!

I love to see new expansions coming out, I own all of them and have played in about half of them lol. As long as they are still putting out new content it means EQ isn't going anywhere. Ya I am not in an "uber" guild so most of the high end content I never get to see, only what trickles its way into the bazaar. I'm ok with that because there's usually something I like about each expansion, and the things I don't like I don't worry about, because another expansion will most likely be making its way to my computer soon lol.

I also agree with Rakazy here ...... a 9th toon slot would be GREAT!!
Let me Break it Down

I know that $30 may be a lot to some people to pay, but I look at it this way... My life used to be filled with going out and parting with friends and spending money frivilously. I would drop $30 in an outing easily (drinks, going out to eat, movies etc.). I look at this game as a form of entertainment, and entertainment has a price. If I spent the amount of money on going out as I did spending money on EQ, I would probably have 1 outing every 2 months. With EQ you can play for hours and hours a week, now that's cheap entertainment when you break it down.

EQ has saved me thousands of dollars literally over the years, by not spending it at clubs, movies every week-end (instead of renting on video). I still go out, but not nearly as much since the EQ-crack got me hooked. Some people used to tease me about playing video games and not wanting to go get drunk with them, but in the end, they were broke and I wasn't. You choose the form of entertainment that suits you, if you don't like it, play WoW or Eve or whatever, I tried them and came back to EQ since EQ is always evolving.

Complaining about the constant expansions Sony is coming out with is a legitimate arguement, but what is the alternative? Play WoW until you get to 60, then get bored and come back? Play EQ2 and get bored then come back? EQ has always evolved, and other MMORPGs have started as a result of the success of EQ. Stick with the basics IMO, and stick to what you know. Other MMORPGs are easy to conquer and get boring in the end. EQ is never-ending, hence the name "EVERQUEST".

I 100% agree. If you go out to the movies on average lets say a ticket is $7, and thats for tops 3 hours of entertainment. Add popcorn and drinks and your at half the expansion cost for just 3 hours of movie watching. Ill be the first to admit im a EQ addict and i too get critisied by my alcohol drinking friends. But when you break it down i have seen them spend atleast $20 just so they can get plastered and wake up with a headache. I think ill pass on that and save money and chill at my computer.

While i am in a raiding guild we are still working on GoD progression and have barely touched OoW and DoN progession and we have yet to look into DoD raid content, but i will still get them for the other things that they offer. Id love to kick a door in and possibly snare/slow a mob with a trap on inc so theres less agro needed on innital attack.

The more they add to EQ imo the more interesting it becomes because of its complexity. It really is a huge puzzle that you need to solve: strats for encounters, best XP spots, new gear to advance your character (getting all necessary focus effects and what not), new AAs to make the puropse of your class ever changing and unique is my favorite part of EQ. If they stop adding things to it via expansions the game will die cause who really wants to stay in the same zones griding XP and seeing the same few drops off the same named.

As much as people think that they arent getting their moneys worth outta the expansions that they buy to be honest theres only one person to blame and thats themselves. They have the expansions so the fact that they have yet to go to them and experience in them is not SoE's fault for releaseing a new one. I personally wish i had done more DoD before PoR comes live in a few months and now that i know a new expansion is comming out ill prolly try to get into it more.

The day that EQ stops releaseing expansions is the day it stops becomeing EQ. Its called Ever-quest if you planned on it having an end then you must have a different definition of Ever then i do. The requency of expansions have sped up ill agree with that and that most players dont enter the newly released content untill 3-4 months after its release and by then they are popping out a new one. For those people i could understand the confusion and anger in feeling the "need" to get the next one before they have even tryed the previous one, but again it all depends on the player, their play time, and motivation. Obiviously new expanions arent for everyone but i personally plan on preordering and cancleing all my plans for release day so i can go adventuring. Theres nothing better to me in EQ then being one of the first to try something new thats what makes things fun and interesting, now i know ill never be in an endgame guild being the first though raid content so being one of the first ones in the grp content is the most enjoyment i get from EQ so i say let the expansions flow like water.

I agree with many of the posts above. SLOW DOWN Sony! I am a casual player but put in many many hours during a given week. I never ever sit bored in the game as there is always plenty to do. With expansions being thrown at us so quickly though the feeling is almost overwhelming.

I wish they'd give us time to enjoy the expansions we've paid for, and not only that, but while we're out there enjoying them, they need to take their time and put a GOOD expansion together.

Give me one amazing expansion every 12-18 months and charge 50 or 60 bucks for it instead of giving me crappy, thrown together ones every 4-6 months for 30 bucks a shot.

If they did this the content would be better, there would be less bugs, and we could enjoy the expansions we've paid for instead of being herded on into the newest "flavor of the week" zones every couple months and missing the best parts of each expansion.

Allowing solo missions and instanced stuff. Unless you are in a one of the uber guild dudes going for dat uber l33t man, woahhhhh, you have to give your left nut to get a group if you arent a cleric or warrior.

Eliminate powerlevelling. At this moment there are THREE GROUPS OF PEOPLE being powerlevelled in Dulak. A level 70 runs around aggroing 20-30 mobs and pulling them and lets them beat on the low level until they're below 50% health then nukes the hell out of them. You cant even get groups in these zones because of it and if you could the uber guild loot whores are monopolizing the entire freakin zone. Getting to high levels is just to damn easy.
RE: How about...
# Jan 05 2006 at 5:33 PM Rating: Default
If its so easy to get to high lvls why are you complaining about it being hard to get XP in dulak cause of Plers. I could be wrong but i dont see to many lvl 70's pling other lvl 70's. So i guess getting to high lvls isnt so easy if your not there yet huh? And on a similar note why are you complaining that people that are capable of lvling their own alts are doing so, isnt it their right since they have obiviously put in the time to get to high lvls so they are able to do more things. Eliminating power lvling wont change much of anything aslong as there are still twinks. The only way to stop PLing and twinking is to rewrite the way EQ works and the whole system of obtaining gear.

Those that put in the time and effort to get themselfes to high lvls have imo deserved the right to not have to go though hell lvls again just because they want to try another class out. The ability to PL takes 2 accounts in thus 2 times as much money. Dont be pissed at ppl that can PL just because your not in one of their groups and because its hard for you, because i assure you those that are doing the PLing have put in their time at the comp doing the same thing your doing and dealing with the same matters you are. If they didnt have to deal with ppl of higher lvl helping their lower lvl friends then they were around from the beginning and had it much harder then you have it now.

And as for it being hard to get a grp unless your a cleric or warrior, heres one plan that works 99% of the time. Send tells to people and be the grp leader, have some initative if your just sitting there looking at the lfg screen and waiting for someone to pick you then yes it will be harder to get a grp, but if you start sending tells to those that are also sitting lfg staring at the screen most of the time they dont care who invites them or how "l33t" and "uber" you are they are just as happy to get a grp as you are if someone invites you. Take some initative and form a grp it doesnt take all that long or all that much effort.

I would like to see a set of locked out zones (no one past a certain level) put in place to guarantee a zone is not being monopolized by a PLer or farmer.

It could be a set of old zones (but then you have to move quest stuff out of the place or you create lowbie baz market for items...hmm)or a string of new zones. If it is new zones then no one can complain that an favourite place was taken away.

Actually, just put instanced versions of Crushbone, etc. in. Make the Crushbone a level 16-24 task.

Monster Missions were/are Sony's approved Power Level.
Everyones ranted enough ...

I'm just going to be upset if i spent 12 aa points on a horse I couldn't afford if some level 20 punk can get one as a gift for forking over the same money we all will. It would be even more of an insult if the warhorse is even remotely comparable to the aa horse. /sigh At least its not another whimsical scepter of lagging graphics.

Every time Sony releases a new expansion, we get a flood of people ******** and moaning about the same damn things, EVERY time! You aint gotta play the game! You aint gotta buy the expansions! I've played the game for a few years now and I haven't seen fraction of all the zones in the game. SO WHAT!? I'm having fun. And the last time I checked, my friends are all having fun as well. And isn't that what playing a game is supposed to be? And all you whiners goin on about how you only get to play a few hours a week. DoDH went a LONG way to opening the game up for you, just the way you've been screaming for since PoP! And yet here you all are, back on your soap boxes, acting like Sony doesn't listen to you and that unless a person plays 24/7, there's nothing to do in EQ. It aint Sony's fault if you're not taking advantage of what is available to you. I can play for a half hour or all day, whatever I have time for, and enjoy the time and see an actual increase in my charcter's life. The game HAS to continue to evolve! It's 6 years old for cryin out loud! Yeah there are bugs, it's a damn computer game! ANYTHING to do with computers is gonna have bugs. But if you'll take a moment to look around from the top of your soapbox, there isn't another game out there that even compares to the huge world of EQ, in lore, gameplay, or in ingenuity. And that's why it continues to live.

I'm gonna get flamed for this, but I dont care. I'm tired of all you complainers who act like 7 years olds, continually stomping your feet and screaming that Sony doesn't care about you, "all they care about is making money." Since when is it a sin to want to make money? The ultimate reason why EVERYONE has a job is to make money. And there's nothing wrong with that! Be glad Sony wants to make money! If it didn't, this game would have been thrown into the graveyard a long time ago. No expansions, no support, no community, nothing. Dead. As for me and my buddies, we'll continue to laugh at all you idiots, and keep on playing and having a great time!

LONG LIVE EQ!

You are the one flaming people Winchester. Insults actually make you look like you are 7 years old. Unless what you really want is to draw attention.

What you can see here is criticism. I doubt you understand it, but people is concerned about the game and offers their opinion. Hopefully someone from SOE reads this forum and gets some feedback from the players. Thats why I post.

As I see it, it is very hard for relatively new player to enjoy the game. The game population has decreased and it concentrates on the newest expansions. Theres the new fancy zone every once in a while, you work on it, and when you are starting to enjoy, another expansion arrives and drives all people away to the next fancy zone.

If sony wants to keep this pace it is all good. BUT, I suggest refactoring the old zones so they are not left obsolete, I suggest improving the soloing capabilities of players, I suggest to create new expansions that integrate with the old world..

Do you have any suggestions Winchester? Or any other insult instead?
RE: Amazing
# Jan 06 2006 at 12:00 PM Rating: Decent
Old world content is instantly revitilized and valid if it becomes part of a newer quest. For example, If I want the newest uber sword "Great Blade of Kobold Cutting" and I have to do a task that requires a few of the named drops from the warrens, a Paineel quest (maybe azzurs hat) and a drop from the Hole... then I have just given people a reason to go to these places.

Such quests would not have to all be level 70 aimed (and should not be). Some of the old quests were way harder (and remain so because of the idea that time-sink = challenge) than the reward was worth.

Something as simple as handing the sreaming mace to a dwarf in Thurgadin and recieving an upgraded version worthy of level 16-30 in the modern game.
RE: Amazing
# Jan 05 2006 at 5:14 PM Rating: Default
I agree with you 100%.
People who use labels like "whiners" don't even understand that THEY are whining, not the ones they're complaining about.
People who complain here, try to let SOE know that they aren't pleased,or offer actual suggestions(like fix the bugs already in-game before adding new content which will add new bugs).
But,the fact is,SOE ignores us,because all they care about is making lots of money. Yes,a business is supposed to make money, but they're also supposed to respect their customers feelings/thoughts.
SOE keeps coming out with expansions because this will introduce the game to many new kids/adults who have never played before. People who are ignorant to the problems that SOE ignores. So,if 500 people quit, there will be 2000+ joining because of the expansion.

The very least SOE could do is delete all the broken content that's been in the game for years. If they have no intention of fixing it,that is. I wonder how much space on my HD would be free'd-up if they did LOL
RE: Amazing
# Jan 07 2006 at 2:29 PM Rating: Decent
None--- only space EQ takes up is the actual world content of zones. Your HD does no storing of Graphics , Models , or even dialogues. (asisde form the UI and hotkey info that each player creates on his/her own)
I am a veteran EQ addict who has both high and low toons. I am a casual player that plays 5-7 days a week. I have 3 accounts as well. (one is strictly a mule account since I like tradeskills and stockpiling is a necessity) I DO NOT Box my toons daily. I play to enjoy the game and it really upset me when I see the EQ population dropping leaving EQ with Raid hungry Boxing Farmers. Ever enter a zone LFG or simply looking for n hours worth of exp before you went to work or bed only to find no one there or worse yet someone boxing 4 or 5 toons and --not wanting you to join them-- <--- That IMO is whats ruining EQ. Sure could also do a solo task or maybe a MM but both aren't as easy and just like majority of quests, arent worth the time and effort. Aside from the bragging rights.
EQ is dying and Sony is to blame. The numbers in the above post are reversed-- 2000 ppl leaving EQ with maybe 500 new joining. And expansions arent put out to attract new players. They are out to try and salvage the old ones. They are coming out Faster and Faster because Sony is trying to halt people before they leave by offering something *New*.

PS. 8 Extra bank spaces is LONG overdue. So many tradeskills, so many items needed for numerous combines. NEVER enough space. Even using 3 accounts.

Wow. This is somethin special. The whiners are whining about......me now. Wait......let me get my violin out.

You people really need to get a day job.

My main point is that you're all weeping and wailing and gnashing your teeth about the same things you were cryin about when DoD, DoN, OoW, and all the rest were announced and released. And yet you continue to play; you continue to buy. I ask you, who's the one with the problem?

You're frame of mind would be a great subject in my Psych class.

I started playing eq mid 2005. I have explored as many zones as I could; but it gets increasingly difficult to find people to group with in old-world contents. Have you tried to finish any epic lately? Have you tried to get a raid going for Naggy? How easy can you find a guild interested in planar progression?

In my opinion they are breaking the game. I like eq but I can not buy a new expansion every five months when there is so much of the other expansions I can never see. Furthermore, there is no excitement or thrill in the old quests when you can just jump into the newest expansion MM-like adventure and get the same reward in 15 minutes no sweat.

Recent players such as me find that the train has already departured. I will consider playing a game from the beginning next time.

So not any new expansion for me, thanks.

Then your server must suck. On Saryrn there are lots of guilds doing PoP, and there are regular pick up raids for everything from Grummus to Solusek Ro, Rallos Zek and Mirthaniel Marr. There may even be pick ups for Fennin Ro.

I agree there are too many expansions, but IMO, it's far easier to progress through PoP now than it was 2 years ago...or even a year ago.

My biggest complaint about expansions is that they put on tiny, but useful, features that sell the expansion to people that don't need it at otherwise (Loy and this one have bank slots). Give that away and jsut sell the content. I'd eventually get the content anyway, but honestly, the only reason I bought Luclin, when it came out, was for the new graphics. I was just getting to Velious at that point...I can't remember why I bought Velious, but it wasn't for content, because I was too low.

RE: Bad for newbies
# Jan 06 2006 at 12:04 PM Rating: Decent
I think it would be interesting to find out how many servers do "suck". If LFG under level 65, pick or casual raiding, anyone in old content is the criteria for a good server...

I will post this question on the general forum, am curious what people will say.
Ahh who cares?
# Jan 04 2006 at 6:58 PM Rating: Decent
Why we all debate it is beyond me, it doesn't change their minds one bit, we're still going to buy it, just because we can and we all want the newest stuff.

Give me an expansion that just keeps mobs from running through walls, while I have to run around the wall to get to them. Or just let me run through that same wall.

New zones and new stuff is always nice, but why add new stuff to already broken stuff, put out a large patch or something, that fixes all the last 4 or 5 year issues that have problems, like they used to when EQ was new and fresh and they still actually cared about the game instead of the bottom line more.
WHY?!?
# Jan 04 2006 at 5:11 PM Rating: Decent
Can someone tell me why the box-set you buy has the "in-game-gift" and not the downloaded version?
RE: WHY?!?
# Jan 04 2006 at 7:20 PM Rating: Decent
The reason is this; Retail version's are counted as number of units actually sold, where downloaded version's are not. So if a game goes "platinum" it has sold xx number of units 'retail', the downloaded versions aren't counted. This of course is done because retail version's sold can be easily verified, where downloaded version's could be more easily faked by an un-reputable company.

EDIT; Also because retail giants like walmart and bestbuy want you to buy from them so they get their cut. They pressure the developers to give them a little something extra if possible so they come buy from us, instead of downloading it.

well this sounds like another money trap from sony, maybe they should take some of the money we all give them and pay someone to read these message boards to see how theyre fan base feels.

1. /gsay hey guys lets go get a task so we can knock down a door !!.. big whoop lame idea, now apply that to safe zones like pok pot bazaar etc and then it could be fun, ide like to see them do this ability to all zones then maybe it be worth while.

2. The spheres and traps sound neat, but when you limit to one specific class then it becomes not fun for everyone (not sure if they are limiting it to just rogues? ) but can you set traps in pvp or for other group members if they make you mad?

3. A new mount? i have actually bought people in my guild horses and drogs so i didnt have to look at them on those stupid mechanical pigs.

4. more bank slots are nice, but thats just that much longer your not out xp'ing or exploring from cleaning out those extra slots.

5. i think what they mean when they say more unique creatures, they mean : "new wolf" would count as a few cause they can make it a green con blue con, even, yellow red etc. or maybe a different colored one and call it a new model.

6. new environemts, maybe new but its annoying when invis drops and you get rounded by mobs when you have over 10k hp and stun resists, avoidance etc. mind you i am a caster.

7.new spells and discs are always fun.

8. i am so sick of tradeskills.

9. to bad everyone would just not buy this and maybe sony would get a hint. but theres always people who are willing to throw away real life money just to stay current. I say dont buy it and get others you know to do the same. its just kind of stupid that now someone high end could jump in the hole and say "hey look at me i survived a 20k fall"

10. balance the game, my thought is remove all stat caps, that way you can use your gear to its fullest, make everyone equal as to spells doing full damage like melee does ( in pvp), un-nerf all previous nerfs to all classes, if you dont want to die in a duel dont duel.

I've been playing since 1999 but dont have time to raid anymore. I havnt' seen most zones in DoN and almost nothing of DoDh - I really wish they'de slow down. or at least come out with expansions that dont ruin old expansions (how many people have you seen in LDoN's or doing GoD progression lately?). I want to see all content, but new expansions make old ones nto worth while (oow having random mob drops that are better than anything you'de find on a LDoN merchent). Give us a reason to do the old expansions again as well in a new expansion. Open up the game to us, not forcing us into a small corner of it... But they dont care, 30$ an account every 6months is the business approach, and they are a business.
Man I'm glad

Man I am glad I quit playing that abomination that has hijacked the name everquest. I find it amazing it is controlled by the same people who made eq2 which, despite what you may have heard, is a much better game. Trust me, if you play eq2 to level 30 you will like it. Then you won't have anything to complain about until 4 or 5 years from now when eq2 is dieing and soe is trying to bilk all the die hards that are left out of some $.
Trust me the last 2 or 3 expansions have been nothing more than sony squeezing the last $ they can out of all of you. They show no thought and couldn't have taken long to create. EQ1 is DEAD.

If you like EQ2 so much, why are you here posting for EQ? And complaining about EQs new expansion? I'm pretty sure this expansion is for EQ and not for EQ2. Some people just have to complain about something to be content, I guess. lol Guess I am in that category for complaining now... lmao

We are supposed to trust someone thats complaining about a new expansion for a game they don't even play anymore hahaha thats a good one...

Anyway, I am looking forward to this new expansion. Sounds pretty cool...Besides 30 bucks is not really much to spend on a game that I enjoy playing, I spend way more going to the movies for what 2 hours of entertainment. hehehe

There is no challenge in EQ2....sat on it for 4 months and got bored silly thinking that something MIGHT get good. Thanks...staying with EQ and loving it...have heard more complaints about EQ2 then about any expansions...looking forward to new one too...even at the cost of another $30...times 2...lol

This sort of post belongs under the Forums, perhaps under the title, "EQ1 is dead".

Still, if you like EQ2 so much, just stay there. Personally, I tried both, and found EQ2 to be lacking of art and style; it is so god-damned easy. My little brother still plays it, to great success, having maxed out a couple of characters now. Frankly, I can't understand how he can enjoy the more hack'n'slash style of game playing where grouping and soloing take on almost identical forms of MOB handling, but, still.. I suppose different things appeal to different people.

As for Sony's intentions? They want to keep EQ1 going and having us pay for it.. just like they do with EQ2, or any other product they make. Remember, they're out to make money, so don't romantize their love of a product.

I sincerely believe EQ1 will outlast EQ2; if you sense this, too, I'm sorry you've wasted the time on it.

All in all, Sony really needs to start advertising for EQ1.. not the lastest expansions, but for the game itself, and build up more of a fan base. The game's time consuming, and many old fans quit due to this and a new-found life, or other reasons, but there are many more out there who would love the game who've never tried it.

this makes me want to play WoW
Why?

Why does sony keep doing this? Its insane and they're wasting money. They need to wait about a year or 18 months to let people who dont sit in front of the computer 24-7 actually get through all the material that has been thrown out in this barrage of expansions. Sony i have one lil bit of info, CALM DOWN!! Really, slow down and create expansions that actually have good content and more of it. People will buy that. In my opinion knocking down walls and stuff isnt content id like to see. Bashing in doors is awesome but walls? Think just a bit longer Sony, or your foolish mistakes at throwing together expansions will be your undoing and all the EQ'ers in the world will be crawling up your ***! More thoughts later...

Nope not gonna buy, even though I despartly need the bank slots I probably wouldn't ever see the new zones. They could have releashed half of this crap as free.
Not happy about this, at all, here's why (is long:

First, I box four accounts, so this craptastic strategy of releasing an expansion every five months is not sitting well with me. You can say "you don't have to box" and you are right, but I also don't have to buy this expansion. I enjoy boxing, but wow, I don't enjoy $120 out the door every five months.

Second, we are getting played like stooges and used like tools. First SOE releases Titanium on the 11th, not even a full five months after their last expansion they release a pack that INCLUDES that expansion. Then one month later they release a new expansion. Anybody can do the math here, they release the pack to recapture some of the people that could not AFFORD to buy every damm expansion they release three times a year, and then see if they can sucker them into buying the next "great" expansion. Pure marketing.

Third, tell me what great upgrade this expansion has that a patch couldn't do? Eight more slots in my bank? They need my $30 for that? Seven new zones? Hooray, I haven't even camped all the zones in DoDh yet, let alone raided much there. And being able to destroy doors, towers, etc, WOWEEE some real genius thought up that. My shorts are getting soiled just DREAMING of it! They make an inanimate object targetable, give it hit points, and sell it to you (is different than say a chest in the Nok Nok fairy mission in what way?). The head developer must be making a fat paycheck, and really earning it (insert sarcasm here).

Fourth, what percent of ANY server would you say has even raided through GoD or OoW? Maybe an average of 10% per server, maybe. It takes a long time to flag a guild, gear a guild, and then break into the next big zone for farming. If you are to progress through all the old material you damm well better be doing it uber fast cause you have five months to finish the expansion before a new one is out and you have to reflag, farm more gear, blah blah blah.

I honestly get the same feeling about SOE as I would a cousin-in-law that comes over only when they want to ask you for money. You get pissed off about it because you know they are not earning it, but you still cough up the change. They just keep attacking my bank account, and it gets f@#king old real fast.

My solution is simple. I am not gonna buy it until they get the genius idea to release Everquest Uranium or Siliconium (or whatever cheezy title they give it), save myself some real life plats. Honestly, this expansion could have the greatest plot since PoP, but that same plot couldn't wait for another three or four months? Suck it Trebek!
Here we go again
