I dont care about the update. I hope square can fix some issues while the servers are down. But it is a little lame that updates are always during our peak hours. What can we do though? FFXI is made by JPs and maintained by JPs, so when they gotta fix stuff they do it at a convienient time for them. nuf said.
As far as all this nonsense about JPs not wanting to party with NA players, I think people are just worried that they wont be able to communicate with their party (or they get a jackass who cant play his job right). We really cant argue this issue because it is up to the individual player to decide wether he wants to party with someone who doesnt speak their language. Maybe square should add a little more auto-translator words so communication actually makes some sense (will they? doubtful). I have found myself in this type of situation many times. I am a bst, and the other day another JP bst was lvling in an area where pretty much only 1 bst can work in at a time. So I ask if he wants to party. He then asks me if i speak japanese. Well we never partied and we both suffered major xp loss/hr as a consiquence. I feel square should step in and hook us up with some useful phrases/words to make partying more possible!
Just my 2 cents.

[Maintenance Details]
The following issues have been addressed:
-There is an issue with certain items that were auctioned off from the auction houses before the maintenance. Some items' signitures may be displayed incorrectly. However, this does not affect the functionality of the item in any way.
-Players are able to purchase the key item "a map of Bibiki Bay" multiple times.
-Speaking with the NPC Marin in Bastok Markets causes the game to freeze, preventing players from continuing their adventures.
