Thank you everyone for your entries! It's definitely been a trip down memory lane reading so many wonderful stories. The contest has now ended and we'll be finalizing the list of all qualified names before randomly selecting winners in a blind drawing.

Winners will be announced by 11:59pm Pacific Time on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Winners will also be notified via Private Messaging (PMs) on ZAM that they have won. We will update this article and post a new one as well informing everyone of the results!

This holiday season, Sony Online Entertainment and ZAM want to share the holiday spirit with the community with an epic contest! It doesn't matter if you play EverQuest, EverQuest II or want to dive into EverQuest Next Landmark, there is something for all Norrathians here. We have one grand prize and three Station Cash prizes from SOE, as well as a bonus for ten lucky people from ZAM!

GRAND PRIZE: One winner will receive codes to the collector's editions of the most recent EverQuest and EverQuest II expansions, Call of the Forsaken and Tears of Veeshan (a $90 value each), as well as a code for the EverQuest Next Landmark Trailblazer Founder's Pack (a $100 value; total prize value of $280)

Ten more winners will each receive three months premium on ZAM

The comment should focus on your favorite location in Norrath, in any EverQuest franchise title. Why is it your favorite place? Did something fun happen to you or your guild there? Do you just love the environment or lore of the location? Are you new to Norrath, but want to talk about a location you are excited to visit in-game?
You can supplement your comment by linking to a video or picture of this location! It's not required and won't affect your entry into the contest, but it's a lot more fun to share!
Deadline for entries is 11:59pm Pacific Time on Friday, December 27, 2013... that means you have one week to enter!

Crushbone

The most fun zone in the game has to be Crushbone. My brother and I used to spend as much time as we could with every character in this zone. Back in the days of glorious trains, when you might be able to pick off a half health Emperor Crush at the zone line. My favorite part was how scary it was to train a mob and not die doing it. The little trick of jumping to get half a step ahead of the mob but to be careful not to jump too much and run out of stamina. Personally I always wished I could do more to help those poor slaves in the caves. I really hope to see Crushbone in Everquest Next and I hope for new rewarding systems in which I can diminish the glory of Crushbone and assassinate the traitor D'Vinn.

The forests of Feerott and the city of Ogguk was the first glimpse I got into the Everquest universe. My Ogre Beastlord Goggrak got her first glimpse at the lush and damp swamps and forests in 2004 questing her way through bats, snakes, spiders and wolves. It became the gateway to a new world and enabling her and me to fall in love with the wonderful world that is Everquest. It will always hold a special place in my heart as the place that started my Norrath journey! *Sigh* Nostalgia!

I am a total noob to EQ, but all my friends have played it while I watched, lol. But hey, I still know some things, and I have a favorite place I want to see, hopefully in EQN (if the lore allows it). Lower Guk ring any bells? My friend used to have a map printed out for the place because it was so hard to navigate through it. I watched as he fell through the floor, slipped around and got torn apart by enemies. He would rage so hard, lol!

Picking just one location to call my favorite is definitely tough, and if I'm being honest I'd say impossible. For ten years now I have loved roaming the different lands, and the adventures and fun along the way with friends and guildies have been so much fun. The shimmering citadel was very memorable, but for my taste, the most pleasing to the eye was Tunaria. I loved seeing the beautiful scenery surrounding the incredible buildings. It really made me feel like I was roaming the home of the elves. Lots of fun!

I loved the Plane of Storms. I recall that snowy wilderness covered in those terrifying snow badgers. Then we move on to the tundra like, mountainous region, where the snow is falling. I loved running through that level over and over again with my Berserker. The tiger race really caught my eye, and I played the Berserker more because of that than what the class was really about. Still, loved every second of this game.

My wife and I have been playing Everquest for just about as long as it has been available. It'd be hard to nail down any one specific location either of us could call our favorite, because we've made so many memories in so many places all across Norrath. Ak'anon of course holds a special place for Gnara and Gnarm Gimblegear, but I can't say it was our favorite place. Perhaps the Plane of Mischief, for it's whimsy or all of the Gates of Discord expansion for its pure hardcore single group content in its day. Still, I think we could rattle on many places where we spent countless hours with friends and each other, making our story in this world. Maybe a good answer is anywhere we have good friends and a strong challenge we find a grand time.

EQ2's launch was so long ago, but I still remember being excited to see this world, to explore everything, everywhere, and I still am. So how to pick just one place and based on what? The art, the music, the feel, the memories? Then to hold that choice to one simple comment. There is nothing simple about EQ2, yet EQ2 can be played simply and that is what I love about it.

You though are wanting a place. When anyone asks me about where to find original, stunning artwork that truly gives a feel to a particular location, complete with ambient sound, I always send them to the recesses under Qeynos. The detail, the color, the art, the whispers that echo... all it takes is just one wrong turn...

Of the three, the most beautiful has to be the Crypt of Betrayal. Subtle colors, the star painted ceilings, the sculptures, so much detail too often overlooked or forgotten.

This is the artwork I would love to see more of.

I began my multiplayer adventuring in text so EQ was a revelation!

I have met many amazing people in Norrath since then in both games, one of whom I fell for in a big way! We were both Druids so we would meet at the Butchersblock Druid ring and sit together just outside looking across the ocean and chat for hours. It was the most romantic place! It was also my first very unfortunate mistell.. But that's another story!

These days my home is EQ2 and I have a very casual play style, when I don't feel like hunting, I like to head out to common lands, and climb the tall rock in the centre of the lake, can see far away and watch the animals roaming around. It's so peaceful, therapeutic!

So totally honest, I've only dabbled in Everquest a few times. Certainly not enough to pick a favorite location. I'd like to find one, as I am searching for a new MMO home. I am highly intrigued by Everquest Next Landmarks, since I do enjoy games that allow me to build my own spaces. So am very excited about some the stuff I am seeing coming out of Landmarks!

My husband got me to play Everquest 2 when we were just dating and I fell in love with not only him but gaming too!! He played Everquest and we had a blast playing Everquest 2 together. I remember when I really started to like the game I was mid level questing in Nektolus Forest and the whole dark and eerie woods feels was so awesome! I always loved questing there. I loved almost every zone in this game but for me Nektolus Forest is just one of those places that when you go back to it, you get the feelings of a time before.

Years ago when I played Everquest my friends and I decided to make a group of just gnomes.
We went to Qeynos, blocked off the lifts and protested that we were the Gnomish Bandit Brigade.
Having 6 gnomes running around yelling about being bandits garnered enough attention that the GM came down for pictures. We asked for titles but he wouldn't give in. That's why Qeynos is one of my favorite zones and one of my more memorable EQ moments.

I have two favorite places: Dragonscale Hills and Shards Landing but if I have to choose would choose Dragonscale Hills. The area is beautiful, from the castle tower to the zone-in. Green meadows and trees, river, etc. I have been playing EQ for 12+ years and at the age of 75, I am happier in meadows and sunshine. I do love the game and hope I can continue playing for many years. Thank you.

By far my favorite location in both eq1 and eq2 is Ak'anon. One of my very first characters was a gnome mage and I remember Hearing the ticking and seeing all of the gears. It was pure gnome and pure magic.

In eq2 the Klak'anon descendant is amazing. It captures the feeling and the wonder that is gnomish engineering.

This is exactly what immersion should be like.

There are so many locations that I love... I enjoy betraying to Haven just to listen to the music, I love the look and feel of the Shimmering Citadel, and it can be soothing to wander around Greater Faydark. However, my top location would probably have to be the Conservatory. No one really goes there anymore, but it's a gorgeous zone and it's so screenshottable! Plus, it's got an aquatic dragon in it, and you don't see many aquatic dragons.

If there was a zone in EQ2 that I could call my favorite, it would be Frostfell on the Naggy server! Frostfell is the very 1st zone that caught the attention of my lovely wife. As my guildies and I were laying the smack down on some Q's, my wife was enchanted by the holiday spirit and wanted to give EQ2 a try. We made a Warden(her) and Bruiser(me) combo and after a few hours, some MC armor and an AA run she had PvP down like a champ. Frostfell was so magical that it brought my wife over to the Gamer's Realm and has been there ever since. Even to this day she stills remember how much fun we had PvPing and chasing Q's all over the ice! Maybe you some of you guys know her? Chixxy would be her character, she ended up being one of the best healers on the server during our time.

I will always remember The Gates of Ahket Aken Raid in Everquest 2. Not for the lore or the dungeon itself but more for the loot. I got a pair of pants for my Fury and the design was not showing for the other players but for me it was properly displayed. Many, many years ago when I first began playing Ever Quest I joined a guild called Lust for Blood. My guild always invaded the Greater Faydark area and challenged anyone and everyone for duels and some role play. In and around this zone I made allot of friends and "enemies." It was a great time, now when I pass through Greater Fay, I always stop to look around and try to pick out locations of long passed battles. Quite a few good memories for me there.

I've only played EQ and EQ2 for a total shorter than half a day. I didn't get into MMOs until they both felt very outdated, though I did try EQ waaay back before WoW came out, I didn't have the money at the time to play what I thought was, an awesome experience. I was level 14 and killing crabs, and then I died waaaaay out in a body of water and couldn't manage to get back to my corpse. EQNext though, man, if anything is going to be progressive for MMOs, this is it. This game has features that are unbelievable, and the destructible environment, smart mobs, class system, building capabilities, I mean, just WOW. It's like fusing Minecraft with many of the best elements of other MMOs, and adding innovation on top of it. I've been obsessively pouring over details of this game, and cannot wait for it to come out. I will be playing it, hands down!

My best memory is playing in Blackburrow. I leveled so many characters there! Remember rerolling?
Met a lot of people in that zone, even joined my first guild. Was a long time ago, still remember staring at spell book while medding. Still enjoy the game today too!!!

I would get so excited logging in to everquest 1 - my first time was in lesser faydark - and the music would start and swell out and I just couldn't wait to see what it was going to be like. wandering the forests and elvin tree city were so much fun. I miss those days as a newb wander the low level zones.

My favorite zone is the Plane of Fear from EQ1. I completed the Whistling Fists quest there as a Iksar monk. I ended the zone solo with invis, ran over to the corner of the zone near the building on fire. I was shaking the entire time. Eventually I saw Cazic Thule was alive, I was frantically messaging other players in the zone to please allow me to turn in the quest item before they raided him. I ran to the middle of the zone wall with invis on, but got aggroed by some mobs with see invis. I managed to stay alive with some potions and feign death. Re-invised with a potion and ran down the path to where I hoped Cazic Thule would be waiting. I feign deathed right where I hoped i would path by and had to wait for him to walk up to me. He walked past me and finally when his back was to me, I turned on sneak, walked up to him turned off invis and quickly turned in my items! I got the Whistling fists and managed to gate potion myself out of the zone without getting aggroed again which would have resulted in CT death touching me! It was truly the most intense and gratifying game experience I've ever had. It took me such a long time to get all of the items I needed for that quest and the turn in was super risky!

I remember back when I first started playing EQ, it was sometime in 2000 or 2001, I started with a Human Warrior. I logged in one day and saw a Euridite Mage killing guards in Freeport. I remember just sitting there watching him in awe. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen, lol. I was only level 11 at the time and I was having difficulties killing mobs my level and lower. I couldn't believe he was just sitting there letting his earth pet do all the work. He would get up every once in a while and fire a spell at the guard, then sit back down and meditate. It seemed like it was just so easy for him. He noticed me watching and told me that I could loot the weapons and kite shields; he only needed the helms to turn in for faction. I made an easy 200 plat in one day. I felt so rich, lol. After he was done, I created a Dark Elf Mage and my goal in EQ life was to get to a high enough level so I could solo the guards in Freeport. It took a while, but when I finally was able to solo those guards, I felt like I accomplished the impossible.

When I think of Everquest, I am always reminded of my first encounter with that Mage. Freeport may be a boring place to most, and it has changed quite a bit since the early days, but to me, Freeport holds some of the best memories of EQ.

While I might never have gotten into a lot of the higher areas. My favorite place of Norrath would just have to be Qeynos. Not only cause it is Sony EQ backwards but more importantly because of a resident that lived outside the city. Flippy Darkpaw was always interesting to me and was a random character that you don't see very often in games anymore. He would always spew on how humans ruined his family and then would charge the gates. Came to a time where I tried to help him and died to guards trying to kill the poor gnoll. Always a good time, and was a part of a few player events where we stormed Qeynos in an attempt to regain Flippy's honor.

EQ was just too good in the day.
