Legacy of the Ykesha Announced

Today began as any other post patch day for Everquest users. They fired up their PCs, logged into the patch program, and watched as they began to download the changes implimented the night before. But instead they found something else. Word of the newest Everquest expansion was released According to the patch message, the new expansion, entitled Legacy of the Ykesha will feature all the expected bonuses from a new release, new spells, new zones, new monsters and quests, as well as a few surprises such as extended bank space and a new item slot, "charms". However, all of that pales in comparison to the two shocking announcements regarding this expansion. First, this will be Everquest's first downloadable expansion, requiring no hardcopy cds, fully accessed through their own servers. Second, many of the rumors on the web have been confirmed, a new playable race will be added. For the first time Everquest players will be able to control Frogloks, not just kill them en mass. Frogloks will be the third playable race added after the original release. Iksars were made available in the first expansion, Ruins of Kunark, and the cat people of the Vah Shir first made their appearance as Player Characters in Shadows of Luclin. Legacy of the Ykesha has an expected "live" date of February 24th, 2003 and will have a preorder cost of $17.95 to activate the expansion on release. There was more to this patch but, really, who cares right? We all know what the big story was. But for convenience, the entire patch message is related below. Stay tuned for more patch related mayhem, and news of the newest frogtastic expansion as it becomes available. FROOOAAAAKKK
January 15, 2003 3:00 am ------------------------------ *** Announcing The Legacy of Ykesha *** The Legacy of Ykesha will be the first download-only extension for EverQuest. This product will not be available in stores. This extension will include some great new gameplay features, as well as new zones for characters ranging from level 35 up to level 60. Legacy of Ykesha Features include: A new playable race: Frogloks Enhanced Looking For Group Tool New Cartography System New Magic Item slot: Charms Armor Dyes Dozens of new creatures Expanded bank capacity New zones New spells For more information, please visit www.legacyofykesha.com *** Patch Information *** ** Gameplay/Features ** - With our last patch and the patch today, we've significantly reduced the amount of bandwidth that EverQuest needs to use, even in large raid or extremely-crowded-zone situations. - Fixed a problem with tints not properly updating when armor is removed. - Fixed a bug with character faces displaying incorrectly to other players when you zone in after them. - Fixed resurrection timer that was counting down against the 3 hour limit when player was not logged in. - Corrected a problem with health and movement updates being delayed. ** Spells ** - NPCs will now notice Druid and Shaman Percentage Heal spells in a manner similar to traditional healing spells. - Removed the chance for slow spells to be reversed from the 17 NPCs that had this ability. - Fixed a bug that was preventing Curses, Diseases, and Poisons from being removed. - Raised all recast times below 2.25 seconds up to 2.25 seconds. This is a change in the spell data as the first part of a two-part change needed to correct the "Recast time not met" problem. More information is available at the Developer's Corner at www.everquest.com. ** Alternate Advancement/Special Abilities ** - The range on the Bard Ability "Boastful Bellow" has been increased slightly. - Fixed a bug with Harm Touch that was not allowing it to increase the standard amount per level over level 60. ** User Interface ** - Fixed a bug with effects in the Songs window. They were not getting removed on the client when the bard was dispelled. - Introduced new Story window. The purpose of this window is to provide story updates in a readily available location. ALT-N toggles the window. You can select to have the window pop up when new story elements are added if you wish. - Item Links are once again creatable from Items and from other Item Links. Please do not attempt to "mine" the servers for undiscovered items. Links now have a built-in mechanism to prevent those who would go on fishing expeditions by sending up many bad links in an attempt to discover new items. These invalid links are logged, as are the accounts of those who create them. - Added an optional confirmation box before spending AA points. To turn on this confirmation box, please check the Options window. ** Miscellaneous ** - Sage Quests in Plane of Knowledge have been fixed. - The event to fight Bertoxxulous in the Crypt of Decay will reset 4 to 6 hours after the event is failed. It will respawn normally if the event is won. ** New/Changed Interface Files ** - EQUI_StoryWnd.xml (actually added with the Jan. 9th patch) - EQUI_OptionsWnd.xml

Have you seen the screenshots of what the dyable armor looks like?

Total Crap!

The designers are getting worse and worse. Soon you will see 10 year olds drawing the graphics. Actually 10 year olds could do a better job

I came back today from a several-week hiatus from EQ and was stunned to learn that there was already another expansion on the way! As someone who doesn't even have Velious yet (although I do have Luclin) all the expansions are actually a little daunting...I am going to have trouble affording just PoP let alone the new one and yet at the same time I hate to miss out.

That said, some of the new stuff does sound very interesting, the LFG window seems to have taken a cue from Dark Age of Camelot (one of the good features about that game), and what I'm really curious about is armor dyeing, because I'm a vain shallow bard and all about the customization. ;) Has anyone heard any news on how this will work, will it be for all armor or just tailored, etc? Mind you I look pretty snazzy in head to toe lambent but all the same being able to mix up some colors would be fun (provided it isn't ludicrously expensive like so much of the other good in-game stuff.)

So now I'm torn, to preorder or not to predorder? Will I get much use out of it at my level (highest char is 36 and I'd like to sort her out before I start a lot of new ones)? Will it be harder to find groups without it? Only time will tell I guess.

Everyone reading this post loves eq, if not you wouldn,t be reading this. Eq is by far one of the best games out there, it's the only one i play. The social aspect of the game is unrivaled in any other game and it is truly the Everquest community which makes this game special, not the graphics, not the re-used mobs (killing a rat at lvl. 1 and then seeing it again at lvl. 62 made me realize this), not the great content (the quests are quite unoriginal and at times plain boring) and not the service we get(have you ever tried getting help from a GM?). The game rests on its ability to bring people from all over the world together, through team-work, guild advice and plain having fun together. SOE has with the expansions made the social aspect non-applicable for some people, simply because they can't afford it. Making it so that a player has to buy the new expansion to use the LFG and guild management tool is unfair to the people who can't afford the game, and essentially it is breaking the foundation of the game itself - co-operative gameplay! i think that SOE should stop pumping out all these expansions just to make more money, and realize that the 10 dollars we spend a month should suffice for new FREE game material once in a while. Just my opinion

I am a harsh critic of Sony (or Verant) at times, but considering their expenses, I could understand perhaps a bit of a need for cash...

They have (how many) "servers" to run, and I guarantee you that each "server" is physically several servers, with zones split among them. Having servers demands top notch technicians who can learn, and understand the (most likely) propretiered platform. Likewise, these technicians either must know a bit about the coding of the game, or there must be coders available (to figure out why Great Divide keeps crashing, for example).

Next, they have their phone bill, electric bill, bandwidth bill (hopefully both satellite and T1 connections), and so on. I'm sure these come out to big numbers, but I'm sure their business model is good enough that it don't effect their bottom line all that much.

Consider the content providers. Whether they be top notch Hollywood coders with Porsches and playmate girlfriends, or poor overworked Joes who spend day after day in a cubicle typing away to improve code with lots of holes, a few facts remain. Decent coders have at least a master's in Computer Science, and people with a Master's degree don't come cheap. Especially when you need 60 of them so that you can constantly work on issues that arise with an aging system, work on new content, and work on tweaking old content. I am sure they work VERY hard.

Next, consider the fact that Sony has been, for the last year or so, constantly working on the development of EQ expansions, EQ2, Planetside, SWG, MIB Online, and more... This is the SAME part of Sony that is in charge of EQ, AKA Sony Online Entertainment (what? you really think it takes 60 coders to run and expand EQ? try 10)

About two years ago, I would have included the expense of customer service staff, but (with the exception of the technical support), I won't go there now.

Now consider the fact that Sony MUST get so much percentage from SOE, or SOE is no more... Point blank, regardless of what your opinion of the company is, they ARE a company. Money is not an option.

This is quickly changing from a quick post into an article, so let me get to the point... SOE has UBER expenses. Argue that if you want, but first consider how massive EQ is, and imagine if YOU had to support it.

I would like to see an expansion which is nothing but fixed bugs. The could call it Legacy of NoMoreCustomerWhining. I would pay $20 for this! Hell, I know it costs something to make it, so they deserve something back for the extra work. In this expansion, they could dig up a couple of zones mapped, but never used, which are laying on a dusty old hard drive somewhere, and include them (yes when zones, or levels, are mapped in a game company, MANY more are mapped than what will be used, and the best are picked out from among them... The rest are archived)

As far as entirely free content goes, it will happen, but just as they said when The Warrens was implemented, it will be rare.

I hear a lot of people complaining that Sony is only out there to get your money. That they're only in this for the "phat lewt." Well, you know what?
You are all right.
Sony is a corporation. It's sole purpose for existing is to make products to make money to hire more people to make even more products to make even more money. It's a machine that runs off of capitalist oil. It's the world we live in. Accept that fact.
Legacy of Ykesha brings to light that many people have lost sight of this fact. People go on and on about how we have been charged to much already to play a game that, no matter how much we complain, we still play and we still pay. People complain that Galaxies is coming out and we must "warn others of SOE's horrible treatment of [the consumer]," while this is nothing more than (subconsciencely, perhaps) a plea that SOE not abandon us, lose track of us EQ players while "playing a war on both fronts" for our hard earned cash. And even if we are lost in a sea of new games, new experiences, and new ways to ignore the outside world in general, Sony will still have hands in our pockets. That's their job.
So unless any of you out there are gonna stand up, be brave, and quit EQ to get Sony's hands out of your pockets, go right ahead. I'd like to see ya try.

There's always PS2.

*chuckles*

Well, Verant was camping the AC (American Credit) in OOT (Outstanding Over Time), when Sony decided to come group with them.

At first, things went well. Sony implemented a few changes, and ADDs (All Debit Deductions) were handled in a professional manner.

Verant was getting bored with this camp, so suggested they see what they can do in CS (Customer Service), but Sony said "No Way!" If Verant left the AC camp, then Sony would take it!

Verant explained that if Sony were going to stay in the group, they would need KEI (Keeping Exact market Intelligence). Sony laughed. Their GEBs were all they really needed (Golden Executive Boards).

Verant left the group, but stuck around to keep Sony healed... They've been holding the camp for a long time now, and Verant would like to get back in there to correct a few mistakes, but Sony won't let them... Can you help?
Guild Management Function
# Jan 21 2003 at 11:45 PM Rating: Default
Has anyone been on the test server and or knows anything about the Guild Management Function being released with Ykesha ???

RE: Guild Management Function
# Jan 27 2003 at 9:04 AM Rating: Decent
I have not, but can take a stb at what it may be, considering all likely and feasible functions of the tool.

(1) A window will list all members of your guild by level, class, race, and what zone they are in.
(2) Either guildmates who are offline will not be displayed, or guildmates who are online will be highlighted.
(3) Using the tool, a guildleader could send a tell to a particular individual (a'la friends list), promote an individual to officer, or remove them from the guild.

?4? Perhaps it will be possible to use the window to begin a guild war (has one of these EVER happened off the PvP servers? If so, I would love to read about it)

?5? Perhaps averages for the guild may be visible (a'la raid window)

?6? Perhaps the ammount of time each member has been in the guild will be noted

?7? Perhaps a feature allowing you to keep track of raid points in game (a'la pen and paper)

Anyway, I am only guessing, but what more could a guild window offer than these things? If (1) - (3) are not there, then I don't see how you could call it a guild management window to begin with. As far as ?4? - ?7? go, just some things I think would be cool 8)

Hey All:

My bud is beginning to feel like James Bond, but I thought this was worthy to post.

Apparently the decision to offer LOY on CD was in DIRECT response to customer complaints over download times. This is why there is no set price or date yet, they are pushing it into production.

SOE has us tied and bound with EQ. Protesting isn't going to accomplish much. BUT with the new Galaxies game coming out, we CAN make use of our dissatisfaction. Spread the word that how SOE treats its customers, and warn everyone to stay away from Galaxies until SOE gets its act together in EQ.

We all have some issue with the company (for me it's system demands-at this time I can't afford to upgrade my system, so many zones lag huge, and cost-many of you are correct in claiming that the fees we pay($100+ for 6 months in Canada due to the exchange) should cover more than fixed bugs and the occasional new zone).

Let SOE know your beef, but protest with the NEW products...they already have us trapped in the old.

I, personally, barely have enough time to advance in EQ. Starting another MMORPG is out of the question, for the moment. Maybe once I have maxed out my character in levels and AA, which is my overall final goal (though I am sure I will still be playing after that).

Maybe they had PoP and LoY in the works before they ever took their vote, and had to finish what they started before they could move on to a new project 8)

Maybe not...
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 18 2003 at 4:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have paid way to much to play a game that I already continue to pay for each month to have some rediculous expansion force me to have to fork out even more cash just to keep up with the changing Norrath. Lets face it. the average player cant even hunt 1/3 of the entire game (provided you have all the current expansions) within any reasonable amount of time and they are already expanding it even further? Come on SOE, there so much content here already how bout you focus on making the current game better before adding any more. if you bought EQ at the first addition you paid like 19.99 for it then the monthly fee. Then you had to dish out another 30.00 to get kunark with the original game. Then it was another 19.99 for velious which by the way was very limited in sales by itself and therefore you may have had to drop 30+ dollars to just get all of them. Before you could even finish exploreing 1/2 these places here comes Luclin. But waith thats not all you finally invested like well over 120.00 and bam POP. Folks,I agree with SOE being progressive, however this expansion should be free like jaggepine. Oh yeah and lets not forget the price hike too. Were paying a lot of cash already to play this game and you cant keep up unless you buy all the expansions. They know this. If you going to have to pay it better be an expansion that has more content like POP or Luclin. Instead here you are paying just about as much as a regular expansion and for what? If you dont count the extra race,(which I shouldnt have to actually pay for anyhow) all your really getting is a few upgrades to what we alread have and a few more zones you never will get to explore anyhow in any reasonable amount of time provided you are still learing to hunt the existing ones. i'm all for adding to the game but the price hike should cover this relitively stupid expansion as it is. not to mention If you love this game and invested a fortune in already heres another slap in the face EQ 2. SOE you poeple suck. You are turing an adventure in enjoyment into a financial headache. I for one am pissed that they would have the nerve to treat us this way. I am quite offended at the pure disregard for the dedicated poeple that want this current game improved and clearly HAVE PAID FOR IT ENOUGH ALREADY.

RE: lamest expansion yet
# Jan 18 2003 at 11:47 AM Rating: Decent
hmm nice posting system it posts your message before your even done typing it lol nice work allah anyway this expansion is LAME on several levels
1)Frogloks are ugly there stats suck like iksars do they are historicaly weak and the absolute LAST thing we needed was another stupid race with lame stats and zero real world uses (like BL) how man end game guilds lfBL ? ZERO
2) yes there are MANY MANY more important issues than making another expansion thats (optional) like any expansion was ever *optional* you must have them to interact correctly with the rest of the players or fall behind and never succeed in EQ
3) lets look at some of the issues that dont warant there time to fix A) to many people KS on twink servers like mine (bertox) needs revamping B) Guides and GM's have little to no way of *verifing* bugs there fore they (soe) can now ignore those problems since they dont leagaly see them C)EQ takes WAY to much time for the average person to play and enjoy as the LFG problem* D)broken quests, spells, items, graphics that dont work, broken npc's,mobs like the one that drops *sword of sad expliotation* that we get blamed for because they didnt feel like finishing it but stuck it there anyway expecting people not to try to get to it.
3) when i first started playing EQ it was said we'd get constantly upgraded content , and yes in the begining we did get this on downloads that did NOT cost us anything, but they quickly learned they could extorte the money from us since were all *hooked* so hence no more content free since jaggedpine wich turned out bad the zone is now hardly used at all on my server , lame
4)each expansion is a marketing ploy again SOE (side note SOE does and has owned EQ for many months now so VI doesnt exist anymore)they add content that we all MUST have to continue to play efeciinently with all our friends these *optional* upgrades are realy required*
5)so 5 *optional* expansions and 1 free upgrade and 1 price hike later we now got a game with massive issues on a daily basis NO customer service whatsoever and no real corections ever made that make things *better* for us the user *consumer*
6) and yet after all this we canot sell our hard work or even give it away because we've paid SOE/VI all this time for nothing so they hold all the cards wich is the way the made it from ground zero they knew what they were doing , *if you build it they will come, and come blindly*
7) this is absurd this expansion is a slap in the face *again* by a company with no comitment to its consumers no responsibilty to (all the poor smucks that have killed them selves lost family and friends or jobs becuase of a game that was once the greatest thing since sliced bread) and they don't care the coders *might* care but as its been said they have no power they just want to feed there familes lol

so do i like or want this expansion NO will i buy it ? like i have a choice ? of course i will , do i hope things will get better one day ? for sure, do i realy expect that to happen? when hell freezes over =)

thats my take on this LAME expansion , is there ALOT more than ive touched on here ? A WHOLE LOT MORE , but my fingers hurt and im gonna get flamed lol and im at work so im not gonna go farther lol

anyway if you agree with my assesment then do 2 things /feedback in game and tell them what you want *realisticly* as a player and post on sony's boards ,and btw if that dont work u can always call the newspaper or TV to destroy SOE's rep first hand like that TV show did heh

Chew on that awhile gang

Happy Hunting that 18hour spawn skipping rare mob that you need to get that one item to make you feel *uber* =)

Not everyone that plays Everquest is in America, or even in the United States, which is what I'm sure you meant. And I bet some of the people who play are communists. I don't see why you flame people for flaming, and then have to insult a bunch of people not even responsible for the post. As to people getting pissed about what others say, 1)look who's talking, 2) that also comes with the freedom of speech thing, being able to go off on people we disagree with. You say everyone is entitled to their opinion and in the same post tell them to stop expressing themselves. way to go, buddy, way to go. *sigh*

I notice you post anonymously, and flame my flaming the flame... Isn't it intelligent...

Just read the damn post and put up an intelligent reply, and I guess you didn't know that 99% of the world refers to the United States as America, and I meant NO disrespect to those who are outside the US... Unless they are communists, like you seem to be.

What I was referring to was the fact that every time someone says something negative about SOE, you have some moron posting stuff about as intelligent as "you are poopyhead! you not know nothing!" I get sick of it.

If you want to disagree with someone you have the right, but do so by bringing up points to couner the things they are saying, not by acting like a second grader. Use your frickin brains people, and by the way, if you are posting anonymously to flame, I have NO respect for you, because you aparently are not proud or confident enough in your opinion to say it with your name attached. You have to hide in a brown paper bag, so that people will not judge you for your actions. Grow up.

According to the big link on Alla's front page, EBGames will be offering LOY on CD after the Download Date.

Basically, what that means is to get the expansion cheep ($17.99), you need to download it. This makes sense, since Sony can save on the production of materials. Sony can then sell to retailers for the same price. (I'm sure this is why the price jumps on release day, as the agreement has to include a non-compete clause).

Now THIS is a model I can live with... Want it early and fast? Put up with the download and save yerself some cash. No highspeed? Pick up the CD. Yeah, costs a few bucks more but you are saving the money on your connection.

And I don't doubt there are a few people out there who will download it, then buy ANOTHER copy on CD in case of failure. If I ran 2 accounts, this is what I would do, update my main via DL then by the other on CD so I have a copy in case I need it.

As many have said, this has turned into a "bitz-fest". So let's get back to a discussion of the expansion.

First of all, I have seen several players saying that they can't wait to play a Froglock "whatever". But do we know just what classes will be allowed? No, we don't. So let's not put the cart before the horse.

Secondly, I've seen little about the new zones. So I present my possibilities:

There is a blocked tunnel in JaggedPine Forest. It is believed to lead to the Unkempt Woods.

There is a blocked tunnel in the east wall of the Stonebrunt Mountains. Will this lead to The Vasty Deep or perhaps the Barren Coast?

Will we finally be able to explore the sunken city in the middle of the Lake of Ill Omen?

How about The Loping Plains or the Hills of Shade in Faydwer? Or the Rujarkian Hills or Broken Skull Rock in Antonica?

And then there's Velious. Who knows what may be found there?

I'm looking forward to it, myself. And I've been playing for 3 and 1/2 years.

Has anyone read the lore in the New Tanaan Library on the Unkept Druids? If that tunnel does lead there (and I believe so too) it would be really cool for it to be in this expansion.

Another cool thing would be a little discover on Luclin...

On the oposite side of the zone from Shar Vahl in Shadeweaver's, there are some "Firefall" mobs (though there is not a zone i know of yet called "Firefall"), and past them there is a long lava tunnel which leads to a dead end.

I cast circle of winter on my group, and got a bard to play his fire resist song... We killed the named elemental there (the Firefall peeps weren't KOS to any of us), and we swam through.

The tunnel is long enough to imply that one day the wall will be removed, and a new (possibly under lava, like Kedge is under water) zone could be there...

Would be a tough zone to hunt in, but imagine the drops and xp bonus.. The risk vs Reward for fighting in lava would allow for(fairly) easy mobs with great rewards 8)

I will look again to see if there is anything there after the expansion is released, and if there is, I will email everything piece of info on it I get to the authors of this site.

I am 25 years old and have been playing video games ever since I got my Coleco-vision when I was five. Everquest is by far the best game I have ever played. I think that the makers of EQ do a great job with fixing things and adding content. I have never seen anyone else better. If you don't like EQ so much than quit playing. If I were in charge I would turn your account off for complaining so damn much.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 16 2003 at 7:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I happen to enjoy the game very much, sure it has some issues as do all things. But honestly people If its SO bad then quit playing..! I mean show your true opinion by NOT playing the game and giving your hardearned money to Sony/Verant. The choice is yours.. For now they still have my money and support.
Vernant+Sony Great new Race But you still need to SORT IT!

On and on and on there are so many bugs in the game now and every single pole that is taken about bugs probably comes out with please fix bugs in next installment as about 75percent. I think Vernant and Sony are pretty much idoits. They think not much of the players but about how much there gona get from selling this god damn good =) expansion to loads and loads of eq players. And Download? well it beats the 30dollar shipping fee for me but i still have Dial up...
ohh well just my opinion in a big world..

IDIOTS?

SURE there are issues to be worked out (some which SHOULD have been worked out before an expansion), but don't be harsh, man.. There is a fine line between constructive criticizm, analysis, and WHINING!

If you think there are bugs to work out, do as I did, list a couple, and ask others to do the same. What you are doing is whining, and what is needed is CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICIZM

On Quellious, if your not in a guild, and not 65, you better be shouting for group between 1:30AM and 8:00 AM becuase any time before that and there is a melee 1 level higher or a guild waiting for more. to put in 4 61-65 level zones which are the ONLY place you can exp because everything is light blue or green is rediculous because of the amount of people already 1 level higher then you shouting. If they would have made this an expansion for higher level people, they would still make 100% of the profit, just over time, the newbs on EQ have well over 100 zones and at any given time 10 zones to goto and have a chance of a group. but at 61+ you better be the only melee shouting or your not getting a group. I enjoy EQ in my spare time, i dont want to wait for a group for 2 hours, and only have 2 hours left. thats Loads of exp waisted sitting with LFG on. The other 12 zones or so you put in for 61-65 level people are out of reach for Many people until they have 4 days a wekk 5 hours a day to be in that guild able to do it. At 40-50 you can be in Many zones where there are no intension of loot. and if there is loot, it is twinck gear or sold because you have better. why not put out a few zones that have no loot, bosses, or quests. just a few zones intended to exp in? make it big enough to hold 60 people, and maybe, a indoor, and outdoor combination, IE Karnors for the outdoor, and then velks for indoor. maybe another outdoor zone like Dreadlands, and Overthere? some poeple dont have time for hobbies that require 5 hours a day 4 days a week to acomplish anything, they just want to log on and in 10 mins either solo or group.

Maybe its time to look at game content with the idea of TIME in mind? give us our time to play, instead of us sitting and wanting to play. im sure if ya asked us how you would have a thousands of responses of what we have as an idea and make something out of it? think outside the box

What I think you are seeing here is the same effect when you finally .

Before POP, when you hit 60 you were done. And, more people were constantly piling up with you. When the gates (POP) were released, everyone flooded into a relaively constricted area.

Over time, as people make their way to 65 and clear the quests to unlock the higher zones, the backlog should clear.

Something I just thought of...

A few people have been complaining about the frequency of the extensions/expansions recently.

I happen to play some RL roleplaying games as well (White wolf) and was ordering my stuff. I am spending $45 this month on new books, and realized I do about the same every month, whether I use them a lot or a little.

Having noticed that, the thought of shoving out an extra $18 every two months or so for something I use for many more hours (I play WW about 2x a month for 4 hours, we won't discuss how much time I spend on EQ) doesn't seem so bad. (The EQ monthly fees equal what I chip in for food for the other game, so that's a wash).

If we look at EQ in the light of other gamin products, Sony just seems to be moving in the direction of other titles (Magic does new sets 4x a year, HeroClix, YuGioh - D+D has new stuff every month).
