Gamescom: August 13th - 17th 

As it stands, Gamescom is becoming a second E3 each year. And hey, we're not complaining! We love the spectacle of it all. In proper theatrics, all the major names have put together a hype video.

Let's kick it off with an official Gamescom 2014 trailer, a dramatic explanation of why the event matters and what to expect:

On July 17th, the Destiny public beta will kick off on the PlayStation 3 and 4, with the Xbox One and 360 systems following "soon after." Players who have pre-ordered from select retailers can redeem their code and prepare to jump into the action. If you haven't pre-ordered yet, hop over to the official site to find a retailer near you.

Fans of Forza and open-world racing, take note: Forza Horizon 2 is coming. The original Horizon, a well-received spin-off, has received a sequel coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360.

The Xbox One started rolling out one of its biggest updates yet on Tuesday, introducing improvements and new features. Not all changes are live yet, but it is all on schedule to be released this month. Here are some highlights:
