Cryptic Studios is pretty busy these days. Champions Online is going free-to-play on Jan. 25 and Star Trek Online is gearing up for it's first anniversary on Feb. 2. Cryptic is celebrating these milestones by offering 20% off the lifetime subscriptions for both games for a limited time.

From January 25 at 6 a.m. PST to Feb. 4 at 10 a.m., players can purchase a lifetime subscription for $239.99 for either Star Trek Online or Champions Online. In addition to no longer paying subscription fees, each lifetime sub also includes a handful of other special features, such as in-game items and forum perks.

You may be wondering why Cryptic is offering a discounted lifetime subscription for Champions Online, a game that will soon be free-to-play. Lifetime subscribers will receive all of the benefits of Gold members, including custom archetypes.

New Cryptic Site Hints at Top Secret Project

Cryptic Studios recently launched a new version of its company website, and it hints that Cryptic is currently working on at least one top secret project. Here are the details from the site's in development page:

"In addition to developing Neverwinter and supporting both Champions Online and Star Trek Online with new content, Cryptic Studios is working on at least one top secret project for Atari.

We're very excited about what we're working on. Like Neverwinter, our Top Secret work represents our continued commitment to diversify and reach beyond the boundaries of traditional MMORPG gaming. We can't wait to show you more!"

Cryptic hasn't supplied any other information on the game aside from that blurb, so we'll just have to wait and see what project (or projects) the company has up its sleeve. As for Neverwinter, the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons game still carries a 2011 release date on the official site.
