Guild Wars 2: Legendary Journey

In a new blog post released today, ArenaNet overviews a few more features coming with Guild Wars 2's first expansion, Heart of Thorns. The first is precursor crafting which will give easier access to one of the items required to make the special Legendary weapons. The other feature will also help players craft their Legendary by providing materials through the new map bonuses.

The Scrying Pool is a Guild Wars 2 column where I simply ask what if? Nothing is off the table as I dive into possible features and future content, looking at what currently exists in Guild Wars 2 before I answer my own what if question with how I think the feature and content could be implemented.

Heart of Thorns is coming to Guild Wars 2 as the game’s first expansion, so it only makes sense that the return of The Scrying Pool dives right into speculation about what this expansion is going to deliver.

Guild Wars 2: Desert Borderlands

ArenaNet is at EGX Rezzed in London this weekend showing off the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns demo. While this is the same demo that they showed at PAX East last weekend, ArenaNet will be showing off the new World vs World desert Borderlands map during a panel on Saturday, March 14. Starting at 8am Pacific, the panel will go over all of the core features of the expansion before giving an in-depth tour of the new map. For those who can't make it to Rezzed, the panel will be streamed on the EGX Twitch channel.

Guild Wars 2: PAX East 2015 Interview

ArenaNet is at PAX East this weekend showing off the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns demo. For more information about the demo, check out The Scrying Pool for the demo impressions. You can also check out our interviews from PAX South and our recent studio visit.

With a couple interviews already, it only made sense that our own Ann Hosler would track down the ArenaNet developers at PAX East for another interview. Luckily, she had already leveled her tracking abilities and found Jon Peters, Game Design Lead for Heart of Thorns, and Kristen Bornemann, Guild Wars 2 Development Director.

Last week I had the chance to visit the ArenaNet studios to get an early look at the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns demo that players will be able to play at PAX East this weekend and again at EGX Rezzed in London the following weekend. Alongside being able to play the demo, I had a chance to interview Jon Peters and John Corpening, which you can read right here on ZAM.

Guild Wars 2: Pre-PAX Interview

This weekend, ArenaNet will be at PAX East with the first demo build of the upcoming Guild Wars 2 expansion Heart of Thorns. Last week we had the chance to visit the ArenaNet studio to get an early look at the demo. While there, we were able to interview Jon Peters and John Corpening of ArenaNet.

Guild Wars 2: The Revenant

The Revenant is a new profession coming to Guild Wars 2 with the Heart of Thorns expansion. While ArenaNet revealed this new profession during their expansion announcement at PAX South, very little information was given on how the profession will play. That changed earlier today as ArenaNet released a blog post explaining some of the weapons, skills and some new mechanics for the Revenant as well as a few mechanics that will find their way into existing professions.

Guild Wars 2: Stronghold

Stronghold is a new PvP game mode coming to Guild Wars 2 in the Heart of Thorns expansion. Today, ArenaNet released a new blog post giving more details on what players will expect in the game mode and its initial map: The Battle of Champion's Dusk.

Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns Masteries

Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will not be raising the level cap, but will instead use a new progression system called Mastery. Mastery is an endgame progression solely for PvE content that intends to expand with the world, giving more meaning to its progression than simple stat boosts from gaining higher levels that other MMO expansions would give. In a new blog post released today, ArenaNet gave more information as to how this system will actually work.
