The Scrying Pool: Claim the Hill

In each article of The Scrying Pool, I look at what is and what could be. After taking a look at what is present in Guild Wars 2 now, be that lore or game mechanics, I then ask What If? What if this happened in the lore or this feature was added in a future patch.

In Guild Wars 2, PvP is pretty limited. While there have been additional maps added since launch, there has only been the Conquest game mode.

Guild Wars 2: Fractured

Next week's content patch for Guild Wars 2, Fractured, brings the long awaited addition of new fractals to the Fractals of the Mists dungeon. During July's Cutthroat Politics content, players elected Captain Ellen Kiel over Evon Gnashblade to fill the vacant seat on the Lion's Arch Captain's Council. In order to garner the players' support, both candidates had promised the expansion of the dungeon, and next week Ellen Kiel's promise is fulfilled.

The Scrying Pool: Black Rawr Chest

In each article of The Scrying Pool, I look at what is and what could be. After taking a look at what is present in Guild Wars 2 now, be that lore or game mechanics, I then ask What If? What if this happened in the lore or this feature was added in a future patch.

The Black Lion Chest has always been a hot topic for the Guild Wars 2 cash shop, whether that topic be the general hate of anything RNG (random number generated, i.e. a computer randomly picking what you are going to get) or the addition of temporary items that were only available for a limited time through the chest. I never really liked the chest, and not for the RNG or to an extent the temporary items, but that the chest never really felt epic.

Guild Wars 2: The Nightmares Within Guide

The Nightmares Within, the latest content patch for Guild Wars 2, comes with 10 achievements plus the meta achievement. The meta achievement requires 10 achievements to unlock, which can be obtained through any combination of the Living World achievements plus the once daily Living World daily achievements.

Guild Wars 2: Invade the Nightmares Today

Later today the next patch for Guild Wars 2, The Nightmares Within, will go live. Last week, we gave an overview of what players can expect in the latest patch. With the new patch about to go live, we wanted to share a few screenshots to get you excited to see nightmares!

Guild Wars 2: WvW Midseason Report

In a blog post today, ArenaNet reminds players that Guild Wars 2's World vs World Season 1 is still going with the Midseason Report. The blog post makes a gentle nudge by reminding players of the rewards for finishing the season's meta achievement (the title Veteran of the Mists, a chest with rewards based on your world's performance and a Mini Dolyak), but the biggest news was the changes and reveal of the special Dolyak finishers for winning worlds.

Guild Wars 2: Edge of Mists Livestream Preview

Every Friday, ArenaNet hosts a live stream talking about some aspect of Guild Wars 2. This includes guides for different classes in many areas of the game, developer talks about designing content and giving sneak peeks at upcoming content. This week ArenaNet did the latter by showing off the new map coming to World vs World, Edge of the Mists.

The Scrying Pool: To Dye For

In each article of The Scrying Pool, I look at what is and what could be. After taking a look at what is present in Guild Wars 2 now, be that lore or game mechanics, I then ask What If? What if this happened in the lore or this feature was added in a future patch.

Since what feels like the beginning of time (or I guess since around launch) I have seen the idea of Legendary Dyes come up. It is not the idea of having legendary dyes that made each thread interesting, but that everyone who has started these threads seems to be of the same exact mindset of what a legendary dye is.

Guild Wars 2: The Nightmares Within

The Tower of Nightmares content patch for Guild Wars 2 introduced players to the Toxic Alliance formed between the reptilian Krait and the Nightmare Court. In The Nightmares Within release next week, players will be able to assault the tower to face new dangers and challenges.

The Scrying Pool: The Pointy End

In each article of The Scrying Pool, I look at what is and what could be. After taking a look at what is present in Guild Wars 2 now, be that lore or game mechanics, I then ask What If? What if this happened in the lore or this feature was added in a future patch.

In both The Scrying Pool: No Expansion!? and The Scrying Pool: Second Class I delved into how utility skills could be expanded within Guild Wars 2. A big reason for expanding the utility skills is to help create build diversity. With more skills there are more options for players when creating builds. While expanding the utility skills would help build diversity, it already is pretty decent in its current state.
