EverQuest Next Devs Get Friendly with Friend Lists

We're back again with another rousing EverQuest Next Round Table with Omeed Dariani and Terry Michaels! The matter at hand today is "Should friends lists be account-based or character-based?" The crux of the issue is convenience vs. privacy, with community members favoring some kind of blend between the two. We would agree that a simple account-based friends list would be a mistake, so it’s great to hear that Sony Online Entertainment looks to be avoiding that route.

EverQuest Next Landmark: Developer Diary #1

Following their streak of open development, the devs at Sony Online Entertainment have released its first developer diary for EverQuest Next Landmark. In "Break It, Take It, Make It", Senior Producer Terry Michaels and Creative Director Jeff Butler briefly discuss items and how they'll be managed. There are two key takeaways from this dev diary:

EverQuest Next Landmark Will Have Combat

Courtesy of Forbes.com, we have a very intriguing tale about the future of EverQuest Next Landmark. It turns out the game, featuring amazing creation tools, will also include combat – a move that further blurs the line between EQN and EQN Landmark. What's even more perplexing is that it will use the same "weapons, item drops, monsters, and...emergent AI" as EverQuest Next.

EverQuest Next Devs Talk Contested Content

Can't get enough EverQuest Next discussion? Great, because we're back again with another Round Table Response! This time Omeed Dariani sits down with Dave Georgeson, the lengthily-titled "Director of Development for the EverQuest Franchise". Among the various questions they've asked, today they posed "Contested content: yea or nay?"

EverQuest Next Landmark Timelapse #4

I'm as excited as the next person for EverQuest Next, but it's hard to believe the amazing promises from Sony Online Entertainment. Will EverQuest Next Landmark really work as well as they claim? From the latest timelapse, we've got more evidence that their claims are spot-on. Impressive!

EverQuest Next Devs Talk Ninjas and Guns

Omeed Dariani, Brand Manager for EverQuest Next, is back again with another Round Table Response. This time he brought in Senior Game Designer Michael Mann to discuss the poll question "How do you feel about modern concepts like guns and Ninjas in EverQuest Next?"

EverQuest Next to Allow All Race/Class Combos

EverQuest Next team members Jeff Butler, Terry Michaels, and Omeed Dariani recently sat down to discuss a Round Table poll question: "Should all races have access to play all classes?"

EverQuest Next September Producer's Letter

With convention season coming to a close, the Senior Producer of Everquest Next, Terry Michaels, comes center stage with details regarding the upcoming Everquest Next: Landmark. During the initial reveal of EQ Next it was hinted that Landmark would be an "extension" of sorts to the main game, where players would be free to roam the world and begin building terrain and structures from the ground up.

In this latest EQ Next Producer's Letter video, Terry talks a little about what details fans can expect to be unveiled in the coming months leading up to the EQ Next: Landmark beta.
