It looks like some Atlantica Online players have lost their holiday spirit. NDOORS Interactive was planning to give 5% of the gross revenue generated from the sales of a special edition item box to Child's Play, but the charity asked to withdraw from the event following negative complaints from players.
"While we recognize that not all of our players were negative towards the donation and/or box, it is regrettable that the actions of a few have prevented our players, as a whole, from donating to this cause," the Atlantica Online team said. You can read the full letter after the jump.
Child's Play is a charity founded by Penny Arcade's Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins that is dedicated to improving the lives of children in hospitals worldwide with toys and games. NDOORS encourages Atlantica Online players to donate directly to the cause since they had to shut down their fundraising efforts.
In addition, NDOORS is asking players to vote for another charity that will receive the donations. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is currently in the lead with 44% of the votes.
