Another DC Universe film comes out tomorrow: Constantine, City of Demons
Is it a movie or a series? IMDB says five episodes, but the cover says movie. I mean, it's Matt Ryan so ultimately irrelevant and it'll be added to my collection.

Turns out it was a CW Seed online series, being released as a movie. Set in the Justice League Dark universe. Looks like it was 5 episodes about 7 minutes long each. The movie is those 5 episodes, plus some extra. Internet says it is a similar situation to the Vixen movie (which... I did not follow). But doesn't look to be longer than about an hour or so.

Edit:
Box says 90 minutes. Guess a lot more was added than just 5x7min episodes.

Edit2:
Solid movie. A couple good lines "Who the hell do you think I am? Benedict Bloody Cumberbatch?, a significant amount of gore. Though the pacing in the middle was rushed. Ancient Aztec Death-God is used to kill all the demons without even introducing them. Largely unimportant to the overall arc, but still a bit disappointing. Ended well though. Worth a watch.

Flash? 10 minutes in and Nora is creeping me out. I've only seen her actress in one thing that I know of. And it was Black Sails. And I haven't heard her talk in anything but that. This high pitched girly voice may be her real voice(dunno)? But it feels so fake, done to make a 34 year old sound like a little girl.

Also: Not sure if this was posted yet or not.
Harvey Birdman: Attorney General

A special, airing this weekend. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like it's a whole new series/season. Just a one time thing.

More Edit:
Read this morning about the possibility of James Gunn moving on to DC after Disney didn't care for his little boy jokes. Suicide Squad 2. Seems the perfect place for DC to try his style of writing and directing. Though I'm not sure how much it would improve the DCU live action film venture as a whole.

Suicide Squad 2 is probably the right place in DC for Gunn to go, seeing as how the first movie was just an Earth-bound GoTG1 anyway. Dave Bautista is already tweeting about wanting to join, which is a really great example of loyalty. He'd make a pretty neat Bane.

Ralph was great in the Flash season premiere, but ultimately irrelevant to the goings-on. He really should be shifted over to Legends of Tomorrow. As far as the rest of the episode, pretty standard "Allen ruins the timeline" introduction. The Henshin-a-Go-Go with the ring outfit was amusing, but that cowl still looks funny huge. I think it's to protect his hair so they don't have to keep messing with it between scenes? Or he's going to time travel and mess with Fred Flintstone.

Now, Black Lightning? That was a premiere worth watching. Definitely the VIP of the CW cape shows. Smiley: thumbsup Hope they never crossover with the rest, though one of the daughters will probably find her way onto the Waverider eventually.

Ruby Rose (and a lot of photoshop) as Batwoman.

Pet Cemetery trailer. I don't like cats, and the trailer certainly doesn't change my opinion of them, which obviously is the point. I like Lithgow, but he's no Herman Munster. I like the trailer. The creepy kids are a nice touch.

Apparently Venom did well enough that there's talk that Morbius will start filming soon, and rumor is that Kraven will be loosely based on "Kraven's Last Hunt," which both without Spider-Man and it being a first movie it's basically like starting your franchise with Superman Dies and without Doomsday.

I caught up on Black Lightning. I'm not as interested in the father/daughter relationship and family drama side of things. Attack on the Albino at the end was more interesting. I thought that his female bodyguard / henchmen would turn out to be not dead after though. Some sort of healing meta. Kind of dull if they just drop her like that.

Haven't finished Gifted.

I did watch South Park, because it's only 20 minutes or so. Mr Hanky blamed Ambien for racist/homophobic tweets.

That was amusing all of one time, but true to form South Park just kind drove that joke into the ground.

Aladdin teaser. Familiar chords, Agrabah, and what I can only assume is Iago. No sign of Will Smith, which is probably the teaser's most saving grace.

I'm not sure how I feel about Fresh Prince Genie. But I guess the issue is the voice I'm hearing in my head. Even the animated TV series, which I enjoyed as a kid, I recall the voice actor sounding close enough to Williams. Like the actor who does Po in the Kung Fu Panda series who does a good Jack Black.

I got around to seeing Venom. It wasn't bad, but it felt like a very rushed origin story in the last half. And the CGI for the last fight felt like I was watching a Tool stop-motion animation music video.

The only thing I watched last night was the Harvey Birdman special. And it was... dull. It was just too "word for word" satire. Funny enough but they didn't even try to make it clever. Nothing subtle at all about it.

I took my parents and grandmother out to dinner last night, my mom says "David Tennant has a comedy on HBO tonight!". In my mind I'm thinking "Tennant does stand-up?" Only to find out that David Tennant and Jennifer Garner have a comedy show that started last night on HBO called "Camping". I pressed Record just cause Tennant. I haven't watched it, but the trailer didn't look all that interesting. Who knows, maybe the two will work together. But they are definitely not what comes to mind when I think "Half hour comedy series on HBO".

Edit:
Camping is... Bad. Tennant can't save it. Tennant and Garner are a middle-aged, middle class, apparently liberal couple, she a post-surgery-induced-menopausal annoyance and he a spineless loser. There was not much if anything actually comedic about the whole thing in the "laughing" sense. I guess if you want to see a new-aged healer hippy Juliette Lewis nude for a few seconds you could watch the last minute of the pilot.

I was marathoning Kidding, with Jim Carey as a Mister Roger-esque character whose life is falling apart around him and saw a commercial for Camping. It didn't seem interesting so I was waiting for you before checking it out, and that settles that. Kidding though is mildly amusing, though I don't feel the urge to watch it live as it airs weekly.

I watched Constantine: The Legend Continues that aired after Arrow, which I didn't watch yet, and I've got to say it was edgy. As. Fukc. Which, for Constantine is the correct way. I never liked how much of a weenie they made him taking him from Dark Horse into the main DC books. I would have preferred live action simply because I really liked Matt Ryan in the role, but I'll take what I can get.

Legend Continues was what they called the City of Demons movie that came out last week when they aired it on TV, right? Was it the whole 90 minutes, or just the CW Seed parts? Part of me can't see CW showing the City of Demons movie full uncensored on TV.

I didn't record though. I knew it was airing but had heard it was just the movie, so I didn't look into it.

Edit:
More googling. So it says the CD Seed version was a bunch of short episodes. Either some on CW Seed with some more planned that got put into the movie, or all on CW Seed (That part wasn't clear). The CW TV "Legend Continues" version is all of that. With the "City of Demons" movie being that plus some 20 minutes of extra scenes not included.

More on Camping:
"Jokes" included:

"Guns are evil, why would we have a BB Gun in our camp to protect us from bears?" *Wakes up to noise in middle of night* *Shoots wildly into the camp in the darkness afraid of bears with BB Gun* *Shoots friend who is having sex*

Butch lesbian camp owner hitting on Garner.

Juilette Lewis being super annoying hippy girl.

Garner being left out of the goings on in her supposed "friends" lives. Finding out things she thinks are new that everyone already knew weeks ahead of her.

And google says there was another series with the same name... and same plot... different actors... back in 2016. Seems this is a situation like The Office where somewhere in the UK it's done first. IMDB gives favorable ratings to the 2016 listing.

Netflix is offering me another free month to come back, so I suppose that I'll give Daredevil a watch. I'll need to do that before the 26th though. RDR2 is actually getting released then and that's where my free time will be spent.

Castlevania Season 2 comes out next Friday too. First season was well done, if a bit short. It makes for a quick binge.

I was surprised to see Ducktales was actually still active. But watching it is difficult cause there is no apparent order to the episodes being aired on Disney's channels (box lists episode numbers, but they don't appear to be airing in those orders). I set my box to "record everything" and sorted thru. Seems there is a whole season and a half of stuff out there that I haven't seen. Watching them out of order is a bit off putting, but overall, especially in terms of old series being remade, this one seems top notch (Angry glance at TNMT). Saw an episode today that was about Golf... and it was great. (S1/E12 "The Missing Links of Moorshire")

Falling behind on my DVR since things are actually accumulating and I haven't adjusted my post-work schedule to accommodate them.

We've been enjoying DuckTales quite a bit. Kind of like how MLP started. It's trying to appeal to both the old viewers while also being interesting to new kid audiences. I haven't tried the new Turtles, mainly because even the stills look like disaster.

Three episodes into Daredevil, and it's great. Definitely want to binge through the rest as soon as possible. Also, dunno if mentioned, but apparently Iron Fist has been canceled, which comes as a shock to me because I was never looking at Netflix shows in general as actual shows so they being "canceled" sounds weird. I guess I just never really paid attention to their being "renewed." I just figured if they did well enough they got another batch of episodes, kind of like movies. Movies don't get canceled, their sequels just don't get made. Oh well, they'll probably roll him and Coleen into the other Netflix shows and wait a while before trying again. Or move it to the Disney Service.

Apparently the new Halloween is decent, so I might check that out. Though I'm already starting to need to dig through the DVR.

Paloma Faith, a UK pop singer who is pretty good to be honest, cast opposite Jack Bannon in what we all thought was a one-off joke in a Teen Titans GO movie, Pennyworth. Alfred is getting his own movie. Before Batman gets a solo. And before Superman gets a sequel. I read the perfect response to this situation somewhere: This is a ****** up timeline.

Binged Daredevil. Unfortunately, looks like Luke Cage followed Iron Fist and has been canceled as well, which is a shame since it's had about a season and a half worth of good episodes. The going theory is it's either Disney consolidating and bringing them over to their own streaming service, or what I'm hedging towards: That Netflix only wants X number of these shows per year, so they're putting Luke and Danny together for a true Heroes for Hire series, and opening up the schedule for yet another hero series.

Then I caught Supergirl. Not so much worth the time. It's amazing how well Black Lightning does social commentary, and how badly Supergirl does with it.

Well, Supergirl is "White-splaining" social commentary. Though Supergirl'ss change of heart about racism just so she could be the "It doesn't happen to me so it must not exist" person was poor writing. I didn't watch last night's.

I watched Arrow. It wasn't bad but they really need to find a new villain.

Was caught up, until I didn't watch anything last night except the Simpson's Treehouse of Horror. I deleted Camping from my recording settings as it popped up asking me if I wanted to switch to record it last night. I chose to watch a rerun of Bob's Burgers instead. I might check out the second episode on Demand to give it one more shot... might.

Z Nation > Walking Dead. Not only the storylines more interesting, the characters are better. Even the ones that have been around since the start. I don't think I've seen a character on Z Nation and thought "Fucking Carl".

And then I played all of DuckTales I had missed when I found them online over the weekend.

The next Harry Potter movie is probably going to be my next theater viewing. I enjoy them, and my Mom loves them, so I usually take the parents out to the movies when they come out.

Walking Dead tries to be realistic, which limits what they can ultimately do and ends up becoming repetitious. Z Nation can make **** up on the fly and go as outlandish as they feel like and it can go in any number of directions. We know Rick is leaving the show in like two episodes (My bet: Walkified head on a pike), and I have no real emotional attachment to him. I don't feel like I'll stop watching just because he won't be around anymore. I can't say the same with Doc and 10k from Z Nation. I feel I'd quit watching without them.

In this years CW crossover John Wesley Shipp is going to be wearing his old 90s Flash costume, so that pretty much proves this years crossover is the best crossover ever. If they get him in both that and the Jay Garrett costume, well, I doubt any show will ever top that.

Bane in next season's Gotham. Looks like Dr Killemoff from the old Toxic Crusaders cartoon. Why does every live action Bane need to be so overdesigned? A cheap Luchador mask and you're set. Also apparently he stole his mom's coat from his mom's 90s closet.

I'm all caught up now on CW stuff. Time to burn thru my Iron Fist and Daredevil backlog on Netflix. And part of me wants to watch the Haunting of Hill House, a few friends from HS liked it. Also Castlevania season 2 is out today. Probably going to be a Netflix weekend for me.

Arrow: What ever makes people Meta in this universe must also make them gay. Oliver's son is gay too. Still not liking Felicity, and they still need to get a new villain. And enough of the time jumps. They brought the Island back now, but seemingly forward this time with William's future, instead of Oliver's past.

Black Lightning: I'm not 100% convinced that this show handles social commentary better than Supergirl. There is just less of it in general, and it's not random "social commentary of the week", instead being the same situation ongoing. I didn't feel the whole "Oh Captain, My Captain." scene with Jefferson and the students. New Principal is, of course, a white dick. I'm honestly surprised the head of the Green Light kid's research isn't a white man forcing her to do all these bad things. But I guess an old Uncle Tom isn't much better. I keep expecting Cyanide Syonide to come back. (Turns out her name isn't spelled like the poison)

Supergirl at least has the random cameos and quirkiness to balance it. Black Lightning has more of an Arrow-esque seriousness to it. I'm a bit on the fence at which I like better right now.

The new principle is definitely leading to some commentary, but I don't feel the scene with Jefferson and the students was one. It was just to show that the kids respected him, which I felt was fine and fit with the show.Supergirl's "white people don't know racism still exists" with Kara thinking the world is accepting of aliens and J'onn is like "Nuh uh" and then they go on 4chan and learn that they're not as accepted was just painful.

I like how on Arrow that villains that give Oliver trouble can't seem to kill Felicity when they're one on one. I mean, she defended herself with her iPad against the League of Assassins, and now she got jumped by Richard and only had a few cuts and bruises over it. She's got the same weenie shield that Wesley Crusher had on Next Generation.

NASA named some new constellations. Among the new connect-the-celestial-dots puzzles was Godzilla, Mjolnir, the TARDIS, and The Incredible Hulk, which Mark Ruffalo tweeted about stating "A star is born." Which ... the articles I'm reading is a reference to the Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper movie, but I think it's just a common phrase that relates to what Mark was commenting on.

I didn't mean to say that the "Oh Captain, My Captain." scene was part of the social commentary. It was just a thought that popped into my head. I just meant that as a whole "We respect you" scene, I wasn't feeling it.

Speaking of Arrow Villains not being able to kill Felicity. How did she and William get away from Diaz's attack in her apartment after she was knocked out and he had a gun pulled on her ready to shoot? I feel like I missed or just plain don't remember something important or deus ex-ing there.
