(1) Colbert is supposedly slated to replace Letterman on the Late Show. That's pretty cool and an easy transfer of Colbert's fans since the hours are the same. I assume Colbert will drop the faux-conservative schtick or at least I hope so since, while I enjoy it, I think he'd run a better general interest late-night show without it. Also be interesting to see how well he fares without the Daily Show lead-in.
(2) I just finished watching Black Sails on Starz (well, On Demand for me) which I enjoyed. But I also heard nothing about it when it originally aired so maybe everyone else hated it. I guess not everyone since it's getting a second season. Anyway, it's an "inspired by" sorta prequel to Treasure Island in that they use some characters, mix in some historical pirates from the era (Jack Rackham, Anne Bonny, etc) and try to make some effort towards authenticity by leaving out the shoulder parrots, peg legs and "Avast, ye scurvy seadogs!" lingo. I saw some lazy comparisons to Game of Thrones in the same way people call any open world game "like Skyrim" just because it has boobs, swords and politics* but I think it felt more like Rome with the sorta-historical aspect. Anyway, it's only eight episodes if you want to check it out.
*GoT, not Skyrim though I guess you can mod boobs into Skyrim for the same effect.
